4、 system, Tube, Hose, Fuel hose and tubing. 1.0 APPLICATION This specification outlines the minimum requirements for non-metallic tubing to be used in fuel lines, fuel evaporative control systems, and related applications. This material is an alternate to Air Brake Tubing used in the fuel system as s
5、pecified in TMS-7006, but this material is limited to fuel systems. NOTE: Effective January 1, 2007, all product supplied to the requirements of this specification must comply with the requirements of the CEMS B-50 specification. 2.0 SCOPE This specification covers general requirements, property and
6、 performance requirements, and the quality control requirements for three types of non-metallic tubing. 2.1 Type A Non-reinforced, flexible tubing for use in the fuel system. 2.2 Type B Non-reinforced, semi-rigid tubing that is for use as a fuel tank drawtube. 2.3 Type CNon-reinforced, flexible tubi

12、tructed as follows: 4.1.1 Type A Construction Multi-layered extrusion consisting of inner and outer layers of polyamide (nylon 11 or 12) with an inner core of polyolefin. 4.1.2 Type B Construction Single wall polyamide (nylon 11 or 12) extrusion. 4.1.3 Type C Construction Multi-layered extrusion con
13、sisting of inner high temperature heat stabilized polyamide with an integrally bonded outer layer of TPE (thermoplastic elastomer) 4.2 Appearance The tubing shall be equivalent and comparable in surface finish and color to the original samples approved by Materials Engineering at the NAVISTAR Truck
14、Development and Technology Center (TDTC). Tubing supplied will be smooth and uniform, free from any visible defects, foreign matter, kinks, seams or any other condition that would impair the performance. 4.3 Color Tubing color formulation shall be consistent in hue and of uniform saturation. Type A
15、tubing shall have a black cover, unless otherwise specified, and the core tube shall be of a contrasting color. Type B tubing shall be solid black in color, unless otherwise specified. 4.4 Tolerances The following dimensions and tolerances shall be used unless the engineering print specifically dire

17、t the indicated requirements of SAE J844 (SAE J1394 for Metric Equivalents) Air Brake Tubing, and additional requirements as outlined in this specification. 4.5.1 Tube and Material Performance 4.5.1.1 Method: Test to methods indicated in Table 1. 4.5.1.2 Required: The tubing shall meet the requireme

20、ng with ASTM Fuel “B“ (Reference ASTM D 471) and age 100 hours at 24 3C. Determine volume change. 4.5.2.2 Required: 2.5% maximum volume change 4.5.3 Tensile and Elongation 4.5.3.1 Method: ASTM D 638 (Perform test on production lots of tubing; determine elongation and tensile strength from original t
21、ube area. Rate of pull shall be 50 mm per minute.) 4.5.3.2 Required: Type A - 18 MPa minimum tensile strength and 200% minimum elongation. Types B and C - 24 MPa minimum tensile strength and 200% minimum elongation. 4.5.4 Burst Strength 4.5.4.1 Method: Perform per SAE J844. 4.5.4.2 Required: The tub
22、ing shall meet the requirements in Table 2 of this specification. 4.5.5 Collapse Resistance (Minimum Bend Radius) 4.5.5.1 Method: Perform per SAE J844. 4.5.5.2 Required: The tubing shall meet the requirements in Table 2 of this specification. 4.5.6 Stiffness 4.5.6.1 Method: Stiffness after aging det
23、ermined in accordance with SAE J844. 4.5.6.2 Required: The tubing shall meet the requirements in Table 2 of this specification. 4.5.7 Vacuum Collapse 4.5.7.1 Method: Install part in the fixture in the same manner as installed on vehicle. Hold both ends rigidly with the tubing bent to the minimum ben
24、d radius. Measure the OD of the tubing at several points. Allow the assembly to heat soak at the test temperature listed below for two hours minimum. Apply a vacuum of 50 cm of Hg for five minutes. Measure the OD of the hose under vacuum. 4.5.7.1.1 Types A no micro-inch finish is specified. 5.1 Qual
25、ification Material and process submitted for approval to this specification shall include the following: 5.1.1 Report A detailed and signed report documenting testing to this specification prepared as per TMS-9543. The report will include actual test data and not merely test summaries. 5.1.2 Failure
26、 Modes Test samples or photographs showing failure modes for each destructive test. 5.1.3 Test Procedure The procedure used for preparing curing and assembling will be submitted for review. 5.1.4 Analysis A detailed analysis of the test results including assumptions made, unexpected results and an e
27、xplanation of any non-compliant results. 5.2 Key Control CharacteristicsRefer to NAVISTAR Engineering Design Standard A-16. 30、ed without permission from Corporate Technical Standards. 6.0 SOURCE APPROVAL AND QUALITY CONTROL 6.1 Supplier RequirementsAll suppliers to NAVISTAR are required to be registered to ISO 9001 Quality System Requirements. NAVISTAR will also accept TS-16949 registration as long as the supplier can also
31、 fulfill all AIAG PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) documentation and approval requirements. Suppliers must maintain their certification with an accredited registrar and must furnish copies of registration certificates to their Corporate Buyer upon request. 6.2 ApprovalParts supplied against c
32、ontracts or purchase orders citing this specification shall be equivalent in all respects to the samples that were approved by the purchaser. No changes in formulation or processing practices are permitted without approval. In the event that changes in material, properties, processing practices, con
33、struction, color, or labeling of the product are required, the supplier shall notify NAVISTAR Truck Development and Technology Center and Purchasing and Supplier Development of the proposed change(s). Test data indicating conformance to all requirements of this specification, test samples, and new o
34、r amended or updated Material Safety Data Sheet(s) (MSDS), in accordance with CFR Title 29, Part 1910, will be submitted with the change request. 6.3 Process ControlThe supplier shall either perform and report results of tests on specific lots of parts produced using ISO 9001 or TS-16949 guidelines,
35、 or provide statistical evidence of the lot having been produced in a state of statistical control and with a process capable of providing all required properties. The part supplier and the plant metallurgist and/or the quality control manager of the using NAVISTAR plant may determine testing and re
36、porting requirements on specific products 7.0 SHIPPING, PACKING AND IDENTIFICATION 7.1 Identification The tubing and fittings furnished to this specification shall comply with the identification requirements of any applicable regulatory standards and this specification. 7.1.1 Tube Identification Eac
37、h tube shall be labeled or marked on the outer cover along the entire length of tube at intervals of 292-317 mm with a maximum spacing of 150 mm between repeats. The markings shall be in a color contrasting to that of the tube cover color, in clearly legible block capital letters not less than 3 mm
38、high, except for sizes under 6.5 mm O.D. which shall be the maximum size possible, with the following minimum information: 7.1.1.1 Vendor Code: A four-or-five-digit code assigned by NAVISTAR to each vendor. Contact Corporate Technical Standards, NAVISTAR Truck Development and Technology Center, for
39、assignment of codes. 7.1.1.2 Tube Type: Identification by tube type. 7.1.1.3 Size: Nominal size, i.e., diameter in fractions of an inch or “dash” sizes, as required. 7.1.1.4 Date Code: A six-digit date code, with first two digits (01-12) representing the month, (01-31) representing the day, and the
40、last two digits (02) representing the year, is the preferred method. Other methods of date code may be used by agreement between the purchaser and supplier. 7.1.1.5 Certification: DOT certification symbol when applicable. 7.1.1.6 Application: Identify for fuel applications.
