6、ined in Recommendations X.1 1, X.2 2, X.3 3 and X.25 4; and the definition of data transmission messages, also called “complete packet sequences” 5; unanimously declares the following: (1) definition of segment: the measurement unit used for charging for the volume of information transmitted in a pa
7、cket-switched service is independent of the maximum packet length. It is called a segment and its length is 64 octets1; (2) operating rule: the quantity of chargeable data contained in each message is expressed as a number of segments and is rounded off to the next higher unit.
