8、 A.8 procedure on 29 May 2003. ii ITU-T Rec. J.165 (05/2003) FOREWORD The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) is the United Nations specialized agency in the field of telecommunications. The ITU Telecommunication Standardization Sector (ITU-T) is a permanent organ of ITU. ITU-T is responsibl
9、e for studying technical, operating and tariff questions and issuing Recommendations on them with a view to standardizing telecommunications on a worldwide basis. The World Telecommunication Standardization Assembly (WTSA), which meets every four years, establishes the topics for study by the ITU-T
10、study groups which, in turn, produce Recommendations on these topics. The approval of ITU-T Recommendations is covered by the procedure laid down in WTSA Resolution 1. In some areas of information technology which fall within ITU-Ts purview, the necessary standards are prepared on a collaborative ba
11、sis with ISO and IEC. NOTE In this Recommendation, the expression “Administration“ is used for conciseness to indicate both a telecommunication administration and a recognized operating agency. Compliance with this Recommendation is voluntary. However, the Recommendation may contain certain mandator
12、y provisions (to ensure e.g. interoperability or applicability) and compliance with the Recommendation is achieved when all of these mandatory provisions are met. The words “shall“ or some other obligatory language such as “must“ and the negative equivalents are used to express requirements. The use
13、 of such words does not suggest that compliance with the Recommendation is required of any party. INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY RIGHTS ITU draws attention to the possibility that the practice or implementation of this Recommendation may involve the use of a claimed Intellectual Property Right. ITU takes no
14、position concerning the evidence, validity or applicability of claimed Intellectual Property Rights, whether asserted by ITU members or others outside of the Recommendation development process. As of the date of approval of this Recommendation, ITU had not received notice of intellectual property, p

However, implementors are cautioned that this may not represent the latest information and are therefore strongly urged to consult the TSB patent database. ITU 2003 All rights reserved. 22、on J.165 IPCablecom Internet signalling transport protocol (ISTP) 1 Scope This recommendation addresses the protocol to implement ITU SS7 used for signalling interconnection in a distributed IPCablecom PSTN Gateway architecture. Specifically, it defines the messages and procedures for transporting S
23、S7 ISUP, and TCAP messages as defined by ITU specifications between the IPCablecom control functions (Media Gateway Controller and Call Management Server) and the SS7 Signalling Gateway. Areas beyond the scope of this Recommendation include: address layer management (SNMP), security, and measurement
24、s; these are covered in other IPCablecom Recommendations; implementation and vendor dependant issues, such as performance, functional distribution, network configuration, etc.; details about CMS, MGC, and other media communication applications. 2 References 2.1 Normative references The following ITU

It is technology specific. In Annex A/J.112 it is called the INA wh

Examples are the Media Gateway which pro

In particular the SS7 SG function translates variants ISUP an

41、AN Wide Area Network 4 Signalling protocols The signalling protocols used for interconnection in a distributed IPCablecom PSTN gateway architecture should be designed to support ITU-T Signalling System No. 7 (SS7). NOTE It is recognized that there are regional and country specific variants of ITU-T
42、SS7 in use today. If a Signalling Gateway interfaces with such non-ITU-T networks, the regional or country specific variant should 4 ITU-T Rec. J.165 (05/2003) be used in place of the ITU-T Recommendation. This Recommendation defines non-normative ISTP profiles which comply with conforming implement
43、ation of SS7 as implemented by regional carriers. 5 Overview and background motivation 5.1 Service goals Cable operators are interested in deploying high-speed data and multimedia communications services on cable television systems. It is necessary to have a series of interface Recommendations that
44、will permit the early definition, design, development, and deployment of packetized data-based services over cable systems on a uniform, consistent, open, non-proprietary, multi-vendor interoperable basis. The intended system enables Internet Protocol (IP)-based voice communications, video, and data
45、 services to be provided to the customer over an all-coaxial or hybrid-fibre/coax (HFC) cable access network by utilizing ITU-T Rec. J.112 as the basic foundation for data transport. This is shown in simplified form in Figure 1. J.165_F01ANNetwork sideinterfaceCablenetworkCM Customer premisesequipme

The intent is for operators to transfer IP traffic transparently between these interfaces, thereby providing the basic transport mechanism for data-based multimedia services. When providing voice and other multimedia services over the J.112 access network many issues need to b
48、e addressed for incoming and outgoing communications. These issues include but are not limited to: voice or other media content conversion; call control signalling; quality of service control; call control signalling interoperability with the existing public network; media interfaces to the existing
49、 public network; data transactions to public databases; routing mechanisms; billing; operations and maintenance; security; privacy. ITU-T Rec. J.165 (05/2003) 5 The IPCablecom project is addressing these issues through the development and publication of reference architecture and a series of corresponding interface specifications. This Recommendation, the IPCablecom Internet Signalling Transport Protocol (ISTP), addresses the issue of call control signalling interoperability with the existing
