8、connection control for point-to-point connections in a B-ISDN. This amendment to Recommendation 4.2931 has been prepared to allow the creation of Recommendation 4.2961.2 to contain all the information on the encoding of the Broadband bearer capability information element in a manner that is consiste

9、nt with the second edition of Recommendation 1.37 1. This amendment is issued in conjunction with Recommendation 4.2961.2, which is designed to be compatible with implementations conforming to the first edition of Recommendation 1.371 and Recommendation Q.2931 (1995). Within Recommendation 4.2961.2,

10、 the changes from Recommendation 4.293 1 (1 995) are as follows: - octet 5a of the Broadband bearer capability information element was restructured to support ATM transfer capabilities (ATCs) specified in the second edition of Recommendation 1.371. This restructuring is backward compatible with the

11、first edition of Recommendation Q.293 1 (i.e. values of octet 5a defined in the first edition of Recommendation 4.2931 still have the same meaning). These values may be either those used on transmission and reception, those not generated by terminal equipment complying with Recommendation 4.296 1.2,

12、 or those that are reserved. Source Amendment 1 to ITU-T Recommendation 4.2931 was prepared by ITU-T Study Group 11 (1997-2000) and was approved under the WTSC Resolution No. 1 -procedure on the 5th of June 1997. 13、al Telecommunication Union) is the United Nations Specialized Agency in the field of telecommunications. The ITU Telecommunication Standardization Sector (IN-T) is a permanent organ of the ITU. The IT-T is responsible for studying technical, operating and tariff questions and issuing Recommendations

14、 on them with a view to standardizing telecommunications on a worldwide basis. The World Telecommunication Standardization Conference (WTSC), which meets every four years, establishes the topics for study by the IT-T Study Groups which, in their turn, produce Recommendations on these topics. The app

15、roval of Recommendations by the Members of the IT-T is covered by the procedure laid down in WTSC Resolution No. 1. In some areas of information technology which fall within ITU-Ts purview, the necessary standards are prepared on a collaborative basis with IS0 and IEC. NOTE In this Recommendation, t

16、he expression “Administration“ is used for conciseness to indicate both a telecommunication administration and a recognized operating agency.
