The ITU Telecommunication Standardization Sector (ITU-T) is a permanent organ of . lTU-T is responsible for studying technical, operating and tariff questions and issuing Recommendations on them with a view to standardizing telecommunications on a worldwide basis. The World Telecommunication S
8、tandardization Assembly (WTSA), which meets every four years, establishes the topics for study by the ITU-T study groups which, in turn, produce Recommendations on these topics. The approval of -T Recommendations is covered by the procedure laid down in WTSA Resolution 1. In some areas of informatio
9、n technology which fall within ITU-Ts purview, the necessary standards are prepared on a collaborative basis with IS0 and IEC. NOTE In this Recommendation, the expression “Administration“ is used for conciseness to indicate both a telecommunication administration and a recognized operating agency. I

14、oth manually and automatically established calls CORRIGENDUM 1 1) Clause 5 Add the following Note after paragraph 5 of clause 5 (Proposed line procedures) : 1.8 to 2.5 s after the answering modem is connected to the line (i.e. circuits 125 and 108 are ON), it sends a continuous answering tone for a
15、duration of not more than 4.0 s. If it is intended to disable network echo cancellers as well as echo suppressors, the answering modem shall transmit phase reversals (see Figure 3). NOTE - Experience in the field has indicated that, when connecting on circuits fitted with some network echo cancellers, there is a potential for failure to connect if the phase reversal option of answer tone is not used.
