The IT Telecommunication Standardiz
3、ation Sector (ITU-T) is a permanent organ of the ITU. Some 179 member countries, 84 telecom operating entities, 145 scientific and industrial organizations and 38 international organizations participate in IT-T which is the body which sets world telecommunications standards (Recommendations). The ap
4、proval of Recommendations by the Members of ITU-T is covered by the procedure laid down in WTSC Resolution No. 1 (Helsinki, 1993). In addition, the World Telecommunication Standardization Conference (WTSC), which meets every four years, approves Recommendations submitted to it and establishes the st
5、udy programme for the following period. In some areas of information technology which fall within ITU-Ts purview, the necessary standards are prepared on a collaborative basis with IS0 and EC. The text of ITU-T Recommendation X.581 was approved on 21st of November 1995. The identical text is also pu

20、 1988 X.500-Series of Recommendations. The PICS proforma presents in tabular form the mandatory and optional elements of the Directory Access Protocol. Introduction This Recommendation I International Standard, together with the others in the set, has been produced to facilitate the interconnection
21、of information processing systems to provide directory services. The set of all such systems, together with the directory information which they hold, can be viewed as an integrated whole, called the Directory. The information held by the Directory, collectively known as the Directory Information Ba
22、se (DIB), is typically used to facilitate communication between, with or about objects such as application entities, people, terminals and distribution lists. The Directory plays a significant role in Open Systems Interconnection, whose aim is to allow, with a minimum of technical agreement outside
23、the interconnection standards, the interconnection of information processing systems: - from different manufacturers; - under different managements; - - of different technologies. of different levels of complexity; and To evaluate the conformance of a particular implementation, it is necessary to ha
24、ve a description of the capabilities and options which have been implemented. 26、Y: DIRECTORY ACCESS PROTOCOL - PROTOCOL IMPLEMENTATION CONFORMANCE STATEMENT (PICS) PROFORMA 1 Scope This Recommendation I International Standard provides the Protocol Implementation Conformance Statement (PICS) proforma for the Directory Access Protocol (DAP) specified in the 1988 CCIT Rec. XS-Seri
27、es I ISOIEC 9594:1990. This PICS proforma is in compliance with the relevant requirements, and in accordance with the relevant guidance given in ITU-T Rec. X.296 I ISO/IEC 9646-7. Detail of the use of this proforma is provided in this Recommendation I Intemational Standard. The supplier of an implem
28、entation which is claimed to conform to CCIT Rec. XSOO-Series I ISO/IEC 9594 is required to complete a copy of the PICS proforma provided in Annex A, and is required to provide the information necessary to identify both the supplier and the implementation. This PICS proforma applies to either a Dire
