SCOPE 1.1 This Standard Practice establishes requirements for cast copper alloy flanges and flanged fittings having dimens

18、ions, ratings, and materials not included in ASME B16.24. Specifically, this Standard Practice encompasses the following: 1.1.2 Solder joint flanges, when made of ASTM B62, Copper Alloy UNS No. C83600, ASTM B584, Copper Alloy UNS Nos. C83600, C83800, and C84400, for rating Class 125 and Class 150. 1

19、.1.3 Threaded flanges and blind flanges, when made of ASTM B584, Copper Alloy UNS Nos. C83600, C83800, and C84400 for rating Class 150 and Class 300. 1.1.4 Flanged fittings, when made of ASTM B584, Copper Alloy UNS Nos. C83600, C83800, and C84400 for rating Class 150. 2. REFERENCES 2.1 Standards and

20、 specifications normatively referenced in this Standard Practice are shown in Annex A for convenience of identifying edition number, date, and source of developer. 3. GENERAL REQUIREMENTS 3.1 The ratings listed are based upon good practice for alignment and assembly. Use of the ratings for flanged j

21、oints not conforming to such practice is the sole responsibility of the user. Requirements for alignment and assembly of joints and considerations of leakage due to forces and moments developed in the connected piping or equipment are not covered in this Standard Practice. 3.2 Guidelines for (SI) me

22、tric data conversion may be found in MSS SP-86. 4. PRESSURE-TEMPERATURE RATINGS 4.1 Flanges or flanged fittings conforming to this Standard Practice shall have pressure-temperature ratings that are the lower of Table 5 or 6, as applicable, or Table 7. All ratings are the maximum allowable non-shock

23、pressures at the tabulated service temperatures. 4.2 If the two flanges in a flanged joint do not have the same pressure-temperature rating because one or both is soldered, blind, threaded, or made of another material, the rating of the joint at any temperature is the lower of the two flange ratings

24、. 4.3 The temperature shown for a corresponding pressure rating is the temperature of the pressure-containing shell of the flange or flanged fitting. In general, this temperature is the same as that of the contained fluid. 4.4 Ratings in this document apply to flanged joints that conform to the limi

25、tations on bolting in Section 6.2 or gaskets in Section 8.2. 5. SIZE 5.1 The “size“ of the flanges in Table 1 corresponds to “standard water tube size“ as specified in the ASTM B88. 5.2 The “size“ of flanges and flanged fittings shown in Tables 2, 3, and 4 are identified by the corresponding “nomina

26、l pipe size“ (NPS). 5.3 Reducing fittings shall be designated by the size of the openings in their proper sequence as indicated in Figure 1. CAST COPPER ALLOY FLANGES AND FLANGED FITTINGS: CLASS 125, 150 AND 300 MSS STANDARD PRACTICE SP-106 2 6. MATERIALS 6.1 Castings Castings shall be produced to m

27、eet the requirements of ASTM B62, Copper Alloy UNS No. C83600, and ASTM B584, Copper Alloy UNS Nos. C83600, C83800, or C84400. When castings are produced to meet the requirements of ASTM B584, Copper Alloy UNS No. C83600, they are also required to meet the requirements of the ASME Boiler and Pressur

28、e Vessel Code. The certification of all testing is mandatory as is the testing of each lot number. 6.2 Bolting Bolting materials used with these flanges shall conform to one of the following paragraphs. 6.2.1 Steel Bolting Carbon steel bolting conforming to ASTM A307 shall not be used below -20 F, n

29、or above 400 F. Also see Section 8.1. 6.2.2 Non-ferrous Bolting The following non-ferrous materials may be used within the temperature limitation stated. Also see Section 8.1. DIMENSIONS 7.1 Class 125 and 150 Interchangeability Class 125 and Class 150 cast copper alloy flanges and flanged fittings are dimensionally interchangeable with ASME B16.1 Class 125 cast iron flanges, with

32、 ASME B16.5 Class 150 steel and alloy flanges, with ASME B16.24 Class 150 copper alloy flanges, and with ASME B16.42 Class 150 ductile iron flanges. 7.2 Class 300 Interchangeability Class 300 flanges are dimensionally interchangeable with ASME B16.1 Class 250 cast iron flanges, with ASME B16.5 Class

33、 300 steel and alloy flanges, with ASME B16.24 Class 300 copper alloy flanges, and ASME B16.42 Class 300 ductile iron flanges. 7.3 Flange Bolt Holes Flange bolt holes shall be in accordance with the dimensions shown in Tables 1, 2, and 3. 7.3.1 When flanges are integral with fittings, pairs of bolt

34、holes shall straddle the center line. 7.4 Fitting Configurations 7.4.1 Side-Outlet Fittings Side-outlet elbows and side-outlet tees shall have all openings on intersecting center lines. 7.4.2 Elbows The center-to-face dimensions for straight-size 90-degree elbows, 90-degree long-radius elbows, 45-de

35、gree elbows, and side-outlet 90-degree elbows are shown in Table 4. Use of 90-degree reducing elbows and reducing side-outlet 90-degree elbows shall have the same center-to-face dimensions as straight-size fittings shown in Table 4, corresponding to the size of the largest opening. Elbows ranging fr

36、om 1 degree to 45 degrees, inclusive, shall have the same center-to-face dimensions given for 45-degree elbows, and those over 45 degrees and up to 90 degrees, inclusive, shall have the same center-to-face dimensions given for 90-degree elbows. MSS STANDARD PRACTICE SP-106 3 The angle designation of

37、 an elbow is its deflection from straight-line flow and is the angle between the flange faces. 7.4.3 Tees, Crosses, and Laterals The center-to-face dimensions for straight-size tees (with or without side outlet), crosses, and laterals are shown in Table 4. Reducing tees (with or without side outlet)

38、, reducing crosses, and reducing laterals shall have the same center-to-face dimensions as straight-size fittings shown in Table 4, corresponding to the size of the largest opening. Tees, crosses, and laterals that reduce on the run only shall have the same center-to-face dimensions as straight-size

39、 fittings shown in Table 4, corresponding to the size of the largest opening. Tees reducing on both runs are generally known as bullhead tees and have the same center-to-face dimensions as straight-size fittings corresponding to the size of the outlet. 7.4.4 True Ys Center-to-face dimensions for str

40、aight-size true Ys are shown in Table 4. Reducing sizes are considered special and are not covered by this Standard Practice, but can be made upon agreement between the purchaser and manufacturer. 7.4.5 Reducers and Eccentric Reducers The face-to-face dimensions for all combinations of reducers and

41、eccentric reducers shall be the same as given in Table 4, for the larger opening. 7.4.6 Crosses and Lateral Reinforcement Crosses and lateral (Y-branches) both straight and reducing shall be reinforced where necessary to compensate for inherent weakness in the shape of these fittings. 7.5 Spot Facin

42、g All flanges covered by this Standard practice shall have bearing surfaces for bolting that are parallel to the flange face within 1 degree. Any back facing or spot facing required to accomplish parallelism shall not reduce the flange thickness, “B“ or “C“, below the dimensions given in Tables 1, 2

43、, and 3. The diameter of spot facing shall be in accordance with MSS SP-9. When cutting into the hub of a flange with back facing tools, the intersection shall have a radius of not less than 1/16 inch. 8. BOLTS, NUTS, AND GASKETS 8.1 For carbon steel and non-ferrous bolts smaller than three-quarter

44、inch, ASME B18.2.1 standard square heads or standard heavy hex heads and ASME B18.2.2 standard heavy hex nuts are recommended. For carbon steel and non-ferrous bolts three-quarter inch and larger, ASME B18.2.1 standard hex heads or heavy hex heads and ASME B18.2.2 standard hex nuts or heavy hex nuts

45、 are recommended. All bolts and nuts shall be threaded in accordance with ASME B1.1 standard unified screw threads, coarse thread series, Class 2A and Class 2B. 8.2 Full-faced gaskets extending to the flange edge are required. Metallic gaskets shall not be used. If bolting material is carbon steel o

46、r non-ferrous, compressed-sheet gaskets less than 0.12 inches thick should not be used. 9. FLANGE CONNECTIONS 9.1 All solder joint connections shall be to the dimensions shown in Table 1. These dimensions are the same as solder joint dimensions shown in ASME B16.18. 9.2 The standard method of gaugin

47、g the diameter tolerances for female ends shall be by the use of plain plug gauges designed to hold the product within the limits established in Table 1. 9.3 When gauging the diameters of solder-cup ends using direct reading instruments, refer to Note (e) of Table 1. 9.4 All threaded flanges shall h

48、ave a taper pipe thread conforming to ASME B1.20.1. MSS STANDARD PRACTICE SP-106 4 9.5 All threads shall be countersunk a distance not less than one-half the pitch of the thread at an angle of approximately 45 degrees with the axis of the thread, and, for the purpose of easier entrance in making a j

49、oint and for protection of the thread, all external threads shall be chamfered at an angle of 30 to 45 degrees from the axis. Countersinking and chamfering shall be concentric with the threads. 9.6 The length of threads specified in all tables shall be measured to include the countersink or chamfer. 9.7 Tapered pipe threads (NPT) shall be checked by use of working plug gauges, either standard or limit types. Gauges shall be threaded-in hand tight. The reference point for gauging internal threads depends upon the chamfer diameter. When the internal chamfer-diameter exce
