12、plant-applied coal tar enamel external pipe coating systems. This standard is intended for use by corrosion-control personnel, design engineers, project managers, purchasing personnel, and construction engineers and managers. It is applicable to underground steel pipelines in the oil and gas gatheri

13、ng, distribution, and transmission industries. This standard was originally prepared in 1999 by NACE Task Group T-10D-2 on Coal Tar Enamel Coatings, a component of Unit Committee T-IOD on Protective Coating Systems. It was reaffirmed in 2004 by Specific Technology Group (STG) 03 on Protective Coatin

14、gs and Linings- Immersion/Buried. This standard is issued by NACE International under the auspices of STG 03. 18、ction 1: General 1 .I This standard establishes minimum requirements to ensure proper application and petformance of a plant- to ensure its long-term petformance. applied coal tar enamel system to the external sutfaces of pipe. 26、whitewash 4.1 Coating Material Supplier Information Section 4: Coating Material 4.1.1 Upon request, the coating material supplier shall furnish the following information for the purchaser and/or applicator in writing: (a) Directions for handling and storage of the coating material (b) Laboratory pet

27、formance test results of the basic physical properties of the coating materials (c) Certification of the physical properties of each batch of material (d) Material safety data sheets (MSDS) NACE International 1 RP0399-2004 4.2 Handling of Coating Materials 4.2.1 Coating material batches shall be ide

28、ntified by a batch coding system devised by the supplier. The batch code shall include a reference to the date of manufacture. Coating materials shall be shipped and stored according to recommendations from the supplier and so that contamination or adverse effects on the coating are avoided. 4.2.2 S

29、helf Life: Any batch of coating material that has exceeded the recommended shelf life may be rejected by the purchaser. 4.2.2.1 Any rejected coating material shall be immediately removed from the work site. At the option of the purchaser, any batch of coating material that has exceeded the recommend

30、ed shelf life may be tested to verify that it meets or exceeds the requirements as set forth herein or by other industry standards as agreed on by the purchaser and the applicator. The expense of such tests shall not be the responsibility of the purchaser. The purchaser shall not be under any obliga

31、tion to accept material that has exceeded its shelf life. 4.3 Coating Material Properties 4.3.1 It is the responsibility of the coating material supplier to petform the tests referenced in this section. The purchaser or applicator may also perform any or all of the referenced tests as part of a qual

32、ity assurance program. 4.3.2 The coating material shall meet the value limits for the properties listed in Appendix A. Section 5: Coating Performance 5.1 Recommended characteristics of an applied coating system are outlined in NACE Standard RPOI 69. 5.2 Recommended Coal Tar Enamel Properties 5.2.1 T

33、hermal Conductivity: 0.16 W/m-K (1.1 BTU/ft/h/F/in.) (ASTM“ E 1225) 5.2.6 Cathodic Disbondment: max. 8-mm (0.3-in.) 5.2.2 Electrical Resistance: 1 x IOl4 Ohm-cm (ASTM C 61 5.2.7 Adhesion: min. 2.4 MPa (350 psi) (ASTM D 5.2.3 Dielectric Strength: IO V/pm (250 V/mil) (ASTM D 495)4 5.2.4 Water Absorpti

35、scabs, slivers, and other damage. The applicator shall remove any remaining deleterious deposits from the sutface to be coated in accordance with SSPC“- SP l.1 6.3 The applicator shall visibly inspect the pipe for dents, informed of the damage within 24 hours. 6.4 The pipe shall be uniformly heated to remove mo

37、isture from the sutface. 6.4.1 Type 4 epoxy-based primer (see Appendix A) requires preheating of the pipe prior to application. 38、onal RP0399-2004 6.5 The sutface of the pipe shall be blast cleaned using grit or grishot to the sutface profile described in NACE No. 3/SSPC-SP 6” or SIS3 B-Sa 2 in ISO4 8501-1.12 The sutface temperature of the pipe shall be at least 3C (5F) above the dew point during blasting operations. 6.6 Surfa

39、ce profile shall be a minimum of 38 to 89 pm (1.5 to 3.5 mils) from peak to valley. 6.7 Bevels, lands, and internal coatings shall be protected from shogrit blasting and damage by impact, gouging, or any other contact. 6.8 Residual products from blasting shall be removed from the interior and exteri

40、or sutface of the pipe. 42、3 The primer shall be applied uniformly and be free of runs, sags, drips, bare spots, and other defects. 7.4 The primer shall be applied at a minimum dry-film thickness of 19 pm (0.76 mils) and should be a maximum of 76 pm (3.0 mils) (dry) thick as measured from the profile peaks. The dry-film thick

43、ness can be measured using magnetic pull-off coating thickness gauges. Magnetic flux or fixed-probe gauges must be calibrated to SSPC-PA 2.13 7.7 The coal tar enamel shall be applied by spraying, flooding, or pouring to maintain a uniform, continuous coating at the specified thickness. The thickness

44、 of the coating system shall be specified by the purchaser within the following parameters: 7.7.1 The minimum dry-film thickness of the coal tar enamel shall be 2.4 mm (94 mils). 7.7.2 The dry thickness of the coating system shall be from 3.0 to 3.6 mm (120 to 140 mils). 7.8 The innerwrap shall be a

45、pplied simultaneously with the coal tar enamel at a nominal lap of 1.3 cm (0.5 in.) and a minimum lap of 0.64 cm (0.25 in.). It shall be imbedded in the middle of the coal tar enamel. 7.5 The primer shall be completely dry prior to application of the coal tar enamel and reinforcing wraps. The surfac

46、e temperature of the primed pipe shall be at least 3C (5F) above the dew point prior to application of the coal tar enamel. 7.10 Unless otherwise specified, a spiral wrap of kraft 7.9 The outerwrap shall be mechanically applied at a nominal lap of 1.3 cm (0.5 in.) and a minimum lap of 0.64 cm (0.25
