Likewisethemeasuredpitchingmomentwasalwaysthecomponentofpitchingmomentaboutsaaxisthroughthecenterofgravityofthemodelnormaltotheplaneinwhichthemodelangleof attackwasvaried.Thetingnormal

Inotherwords,thedirectionsofthewing-normal-forcevectorschangedwithbothanglesofattackandbank,-whilethedirectionof thetotalnormal-forcevector

Theeffectsof smallstreamirregularities,knowntoexistintheAmes6-by 6-footsupersonicwindtunnel(reference.1),onthemeasuredaerodynamiccharacteristicshavebeenmifiimizedinthepresentinvestig-ation byvaryingthemodelincidenceinthehorizontalple ofthewindtunnel,therebyutilizingthemostfav
26、orableflowconditions.Thisprocedurelimitedtheadverseeffectsof streamirremlitiestohe.axialbuoyancyeffectonthemodelresultingfroma longitudinalpressegradientinthewindtunnel,an-da smalleffectiveangleofyawresultingfromtheflowangularityintheverticalplaneofthetindtwel (modelyawplsne). Themeasuredaxialforces
