Change Notice: Released as MPAPS; Added Restricted Chemical Substances requirement; Editorial Changes 1.0 APPLICATION This specification covers stainless steel clad aluminum bumpers used on International Trucks. NOTE: All new drawings must indicate material Type. All existing drawings

5、which do not indicate a material Type shall be Type 1. 2.0 SCOPE This specification covers construction, material, performance and finish requirements, dimensional tolerances, quality control and source approval, and packaging and shipping and identification requirements. 2.1 Restricted Chemical Sub

6、stances Effective January 1, 2007, all product supplied to the requirements of this specification must comply with the requirements of the MPAPS B-50 specification. 3.0 REFERENCE DOCUMENTS Unless otherwise specified, the latest issue of all referenced standards shall apply. April 2016 Page 2 of 5 4.0 REQUIREMENTS 4.1 Construction 4.1.1 Type 1 Type 1 bumpers shall be manufactured from a clad material consisting of approximately 32% by thickness of an outer facing of stainless steel (UNS S30100) metallurgically bonded to approximately 68% by thickness

10、of aluminum sheet (AA3003 or AA5052 ALCLAD). 4.1.1.1 The aluminum sheet (AA3003 or AA5052 ALCLAD) shall consist of UNS A93003 or a core of aluminum alloy, UNS A95052, clad on each face/side with approximately 6% by thickness of a 99% pure aluminum alloy such as UNS A91100. 4.1.1.2 The stainless stee

11、l face of the clad material will meet the chemical analysis limits of S30100 per SAE J405. 4.1.1.3 The aluminum core will meet the chemical analysis limits of A93003 or the core will meet A95052 as per SAE J454. The clad faces of the aluminum core will meet the chemical analysis limits of a 99% pure

12、 aluminum alloy. 4.1.1.4 Chemical composition will be determined using industry accepted chemical analysis techniques. 4.1.2 Type 2 Type 2 bumpers shall be manufactured from a clad material consisting of approximately 25% by thickness of an outer facing of stainless steel (UNS S30100) metallurgicall

13、y bonded to approximately 75% by thickness of aluminum sheet (AA3003 or AA5052 ALCLAD). 4.1.2.1 The aluminum sheet (AA3003 or AA5052 ALCLAD) shall consist of UNS A93003 or a core of aluminum alloy, UNS A95052, clad on each face/side with approximately 6% by thickness of a 99% pure aluminum alloy suc

14、h as UNS A91100. 4.1.2.2 The stainless steel face of the clad material will meet the chemical analysis limits of S30100 per SAE J405. 4.1.2.3 The aluminum core will meet the chemical analysis limits of A93003 or the core will meet A95052 as per SAE J454. The clad faces of the aluminum core will meet

15、 the chemical analysis limits of a 99% pure aluminum alloy. 4.1.2.4 Chemical composition will be determined using industry accepted chemical analysis techniques. 4.2 Performance Requirements 4.2.1 Mechanical Properties The clad material shall meet the indicated minimum tensile requirements when test

16、ed in accordance with ASTM A 370 using a standard rectangular (sheet-type) tension test specimen. 18、mum average value of three samples will be 30 lb/inch of width. 4.2.2.2 Bend Test A one-inch strip bent 180 flat with the stainless steel face on the outside will show no delamination after being straightened (returned) to a flat condition. 4.2.3 Corrosion Resistance 4.2.3.1 CASS Test There shall be

19、 no corrosion sites on the surface of the stainless steel face after 16 hours of CASS testing per ASTM B 368. Corrosion sites are identified by rust discoloration (“run-down”) or pitting. Corrosion from the sheared edges will be discounted. 4.2.3.2 Ferric Chloride Spot Test There shall be no pitting

20、 or etching visible to the unaided eye when viewed perpendicular to the surface after a 5-minute exposure to the following acid spot test. 4.2.3.2.1 Apply a single drop of acid solution to the cleaned stainless steel face of the clad material using a clean eyedropper. After five minutes, remove the

21、acid drop by rinsing in water and wiping with a soft cloth or paper towel. 4.2.3.2.2 The acid solution is prepared by dissolving 10g of ferric chloride (FeCl3 .6H20) and 5g sodium chloride (NaCl) and 2.5 ml of hydrochloric acid (HCl-concentrated) in 200 ml of distilled water. 4.3 Finish Requirements

22、 4.3.1 Clad Material (Flat Stock) Finish The stainless steel face of the clad material will be buffed and polished to a Number 8-Mirror Finish. The surface shall be clean and free of sharp creases, scuffs, and scratches that do not blend with the directionality of the finish. 4.3.1.1 The aluminum su

23、rface may contain imperfections as long as the imperfections do not adversely affect the stainless steel surface. 4.3.1.2 The material shall be furnished with a slit edge. Edge burrs shall not exceed 10% of the material thickness. 4.4 Dimensional Tolerances Bumpers supplied shall conform to the foll

24、owing dimensional tolerances: Thickness: Type 1 - specified value .006 in. Type 2 specified value .0075 in. Width: specified value + .062, -0 in. April 2016 Page 4 of 5 4.5 Certification Each shipment of bumpers shall be certified as meeting the following requi

26、rements: Mechanical Properties: T.S., Y.S., %E Spot and CASS Corrosion Tests Material Chemistries Conformance to Finish Standards 5.0 QUALITY The stainless steel surface of the bumper will be clean and free of dirt, oil, grease, and creases, scuffs and scratches that do not blend with the directiona

27、lity of the finish. Bumper finish will match or exceed established and agreed upon visual standard samples. 6.0 QUALIFICATION Engineering qualification of sources is required in advance of production shipments. Suppliers shall submit samples for approval of finish, luster, color and appearance to th

28、e Navistar Industrial Design Group. Samples shall be accompanied by test data certifying that all requirements of the specification have been met. Upon approval, styling master samples denoting the minimum level of acceptable appearance quality shall be developed and retained by the supplier and the

29、 quality department of each using NAVISTAR facility. 6.1 Quality Control Plan A Quality Control Plan for this product will be established by mutual agreement between International and the supplier. Unless specific exception is noted, the following characteristics, where applicable*, shall be include

30、d in the plan as features for management by statistical process control.* 1. Location of Bumper to Frame Mounting Holes. * Other Characteristics for inclusion in the control plan may be specified on the engineeringdrawing and/or purchase order. * See Engineering Design Standard A-16. 7.0 SOURCE APPR

31、OVAL AND QUALITY CONTROL 7.1 Supplier Requirements All suppliers to NAVISTAR are required to be registered to ISO 9001 Quality System Requirements. NAVISTAR will also accept TS-16949 registration as long as the supplier can also fulfill all AIAG PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) documentation

32、and approval requirements. Suppliers must maintain their certification with an accredited registrar and must furnish copies of registration certificates to their Corporate Buyer upon request. 7.2 Approval Parts supplied against contracts or purchase orders citing this specification shall be equivale

33、nt in all respects to those samples which were approved by the purchaser. In the event that changes in material, properties, processing practices, construction, color, or labeling of the product

35、are required, the supplier shall notify NAVISTAR Materials Engineering and Purchasing and Supplier Development of the proposed change(s). Test data indicating conformance to all requirements of this specification, test samples, and new or amended or updated Material Safety Data Sheet(s) (MSDS), in a

36、ccordance with CFR Title 29, Part 1910 shall be submitted with the request for change. 7.3 Process Control The supplier shall either, perform and report results of tests on specific lots of parts produced using ISO 9001 or TS-16949 guidelines, or provide statistical evidence of the lot having been p

37、roduced in a state of statistical control and with a process capable of providing all required properties. The part supplier and the quality control manager of the using NAVISTAR plant may determine testing and reporting requirements on specific products. 8.0 SHIPPING AND HANDLING Shipping and ident

38、ification shall be in accordance with NAVISTAR Manufacturing Standard MS-D-13. Parts shall be packaged so as to avoid any damage in shipment detrimental to the appearance of the part. 9.0 DESIGNATION ON DRAWINGS Example of note to use on drawings: Material Designation: TMS-1060, Type 1 or Type 2 The
