4、r to use. 1.0 APPLICATION This specification covers plywood material used in school bus floor systems, seat supports, sleeper bunks and other applications. 1.1 Type 1 Standard School Bus flooring/underlayment B-C, exterior grade adhesive. 1.2 Type 2 Optional School Bus - Marine Grade plywood. 1.3 Ty

5、pe 3 Fungus-rot resistant plywood for School Bus floor Reserved. 1.4 Type 4 Sleeper bunk support Medium Density Overlay (MDO). 1.5 Type 5 School Bus seat support-base plywood 1.6 Type 6 Optional School Bus - Phenolic coated birch plywood. 1.7 Type 7 Veneered and treated medium density fiberboard (MD

6、F) variant for interior trim applications. 1.8 Type 8 An MDF similar to Type 7 but with no veneer. 1.9 Type 9 School Bus seat support-base oriented strand board (OSB) 1.10 Type 10 Sleeper bunk support phenolic coated birch plywood. 2.0 SCOPE This specification covers the general requirements, proper

7、ty and performance requirements, quality, quality control requirements, source approval and quality control. 2.1 Restricted Chemical Substances Effective January 1, 2007, all product supplied to the requirements of this specification must comply with the requirements of the MPAPS B-50 specification.

8、 3.0 REFERENCE DOCUMENTS Unless otherwise specified, the latest issue of all referenced standards shall apply. JUNE 2016 Page 2 of 6 4.0 REQUIREMENTS 4.1 Material Requirements Table 1 lists the material requirements. 4.1.1 Plywood: Type 1, 5, and 6 Plywood shall conform to NIST PS-1, B-C panel grade, exterior plywood. 4.1.2 Plywood: Type 2 Plyw

12、ood shall conform to NIST PS-1, B-B panel grade, exterior plywood. 4.1.3 MDF: Type 7 and 8 A proprietary exterior treated MDF type product. General requirements shall be the same as commercial MDF with further moisture and rot resistance. 4.1.4 OSB: Type 9 OSB shall conform to NIST PS-2. 4.1.5 Press

13、ure Treatment of Plywood: Type 3 Pressure treatment shall conform to requirements of AWPA Standard C1 and C9-Plywood. 4.1.6 Plywood Coating: Type 6 Phenolic film as moisture barrier on one side of panel. 4.1.7 Hardwood veneer: Type 7 The type and finish of the hardwood veneer shall be specified on t

14、he engineering print. The veneer shall be bonded with an exterior grade adhesive and comply with APA PS-1 requirements for ply adhesion. 4.2 Property and Performance Requirements All materials supplied to this specification shall meet the requirements shown in Table 1 as appropriate and in addition

15、shall meet requirements listed below. 4.2.1 Resistance to Mold Growth 4.2.1.1 Method: AATCC Method 30 (American Association of Textile Chemists and Colorists) 4.2.1.2 Shall not exhibit any objectionable odor or growth of mold. 4.2.2 Humidity Corrosion 4.2.2.1 Method: AWPA E12-94 4.2.2.2 Required: Re

16、port value. 4.2.3 Corrosion Testing 4.2.3.1 Method: SAE J2334 4.2.3.2 Required: Report value. 4.2.4 Flammability Material and parts supplied to this specification shall conform to and be certified by the supplier to meet the requirements of the latest issue of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard #

23、al value and test methods used in the Qualification Report. 5.0 QUALITY Workmanship and finish shall be such as to provide a base floor with clean surface, neatly trimmed edges, and made in conformance with good manufacturing practices. Material supplied shall be free from objectionable odor, be of

24、uniform quality, and shall match performance properties of pre-production approved material. Pre-production samples of material sufficient for complete test and evaluation should be submitted to Materials Engineering for approval. 26、ted for approval to this specification shall include the following: 6.0.1 Report: A detailed and signed report documenting testing to this specification prepared in accordance with MPAPS P-9543. The report will include actual test data and not merely test summaries. 6.0.2 Failure Modes: Test samples

27、 or photographs showing failure modes for each destructive test 6.0.3 Test Procedure: The procedures used for preparing and testing material. 6.0.4 Analysis: A detailed analysis of the test results including assumptions made, unexpected results and an explanation of any non-compliant results. 6.0.5

28、Material: Pre-production material sufficient for complete test and evaluation by Navistar. 6.1 Submission The material and test report shall be submitted to: Materials Engineering and Technology NAVISTAR, Inc. 10400 W. North Ave. Melrose Park, IL 60160 6.2 Appearance as applicable Engineering qualif

29、ication of sources is required in advance of production shipments. Suppliers shall submit samples for approval of finish, luster, color and appearance to the Navistar Industrial Design Group. Samples shall be accompanied by test data certifying that all requirements of the specification have been me

30、t. Upon approval, styling master samples denoting the minimum level of acceptable appearance quality shall be developed and retained by the supplier and the quality department of each using NAVISTAR facility. 6.3 Approval A report from Navistar will be issued approving material to this specification

31、. Approval is not formally granted until this report has been published. A change to this Specification listing the new approval may be delayed. The approval report serves as authorization for the use of that adhesive system prior to the changes to this specification. 6.4 Quality Control Plan A Qual

32、ity Control Plan for products supplied to the requirements of this specification will be established by mutual agreement between NAVISTAR and the supplier. Unless specific exception is noted, the following characteristics, where applicable*, shall be included in the plan as features for management b

Suppliers are required to assume all patent liability. 2016 by Navistar, Inc. JUNE 2016 Page 5 of 6 7.0 SOURCE APPROVAL AND QUALITY CONTROL 7.1 Supplier Requirements All supp

35、liers to NAVISTAR are required to be registered to ISO 9001 Quality System Requirements. NAVISTAR will also accept TS-16949 registration as long as the supplier can also fulfill all AIAG PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) documentation and approval requirements. Suppliers must maintain their ce

36、rtification with an accredited registrar and must furnish copies of registration certificates to their Corporate Buyer upon request. 7.2 Approval Parts supplied against contracts or purchase orders citing this specification shall be equivalent in all respects to those samples which were approved by

37、the purchaser. No changes in formulation or processing practices are permitted without approval. In the event that changes in material, properties, processing practices, construction, color, or labeling of the product are required, the supplier shall notify NAVISTAR Materials Engineering and Purchas

38、ing and Supplier Development of the proposed change(s). Test data indicating conformance to all requirements of this specification, test samples, and new or amended or updated Material Safety Data Sheet(s) (MSDS), in accordance with CFR Title 29, Part 1910 shall be submitted with the request for cha

39、nge. 7.3 Process Control The supplier shall either perform and report results of tests on specific lots of parts produced using ISO 9001 or TS-16949 guidelines, or provide statistical evidence of the lot having been produced in a state of statistical control and with a process capable of providing a

40、ll required properties. The part supplier and the quality control manager of the using NAVISTAR plant may determine testing and reporting requirements on specific products. 8.0 SHIPPING AND HANDLING Shipping and identification shall be in accordance with NAVISTAR Manufacturing Standard MS-D-13. Part
