5、 per SAE J1703/J1705 and TMS-6820. 2.0 SCOPE This specification covers general requirements, dimensional tolerances, property and performance requirements, designation on drawings, source approval and quality control, and approved sources. 2.1 Restricted Chemical Substances Effective January 1, 2007

10、BER 2014 Page 2 of 6 4.1 Hose Construction 4.1.1 1/8 Inch ID Hose: The tube shall consist of a ethylene-propylene-diene terpolymer (EPDM) or a suitable blend of butyl and EPDM, suitably reinforced with 2 braids of polyvinyl alcohol yarn separated by a butyl or chloroprene friction layer and covered
11、by an EPDM elastomer. 4.1.2 3/16 Inch ID Hose: The tube shall consist of a chloroprene elastomer suitably reinforced with 2 braids of rayon yarn separated by a chloroprene friction layer and covered by a chloroprene elastomer. 4.2 Fittings The fittings shall be permanently attached with brass or ste
12、el fluid connectors. 4.2.1 Brass Fittings: Unless otherwise specified, brass fittings will be made from Bar Stock, C36000, half hard, or from C37700 per CEMS C-3. 4.2.2 Steel Fittings: 4.2.2.1 Tube Nuts: Steel, Code 0-115, MPAPS A-0, Part II. Stainless steel fittings shall be made from 18-8 stainles
13、s steel per MPAPS A-37, and are passivated per MPAPS A-37, Type 5 finish. 4.2.2.2 Flareless ferrules: Steel, 1008, 1012, 1112, or 12L14 per MPAPS A-0, Part I, case hardened to Class 3 or Class 3A per MPAPS A-40. 4.2.2.3 Crimp hose fittings: Crimp hose fittings do not require case hardening. 4.2.2.4
14、Finish: Steel fittings will be plated with a zinc-alloy finish to provide corrosion protection comparable to the steel tubing finish. 4.3 Steel Tubes 4.3.1 Tubing: Tubing shall be brazed double-wall steel tubing conforming to SAE J527. For non- flared heavy single-walled tubing applications, the mat
15、erial must comply with requirements of SAE J524 or equivalent tubing approved by Engineering. 4.3.2 Tubing Finish: The outer surfaces of the steel tubing will be plated with zinc-alloy plating (e.g., ASTM B 840 zinc-cobalt, ASTM B 842 zinc-iron, or ASTM B 841 zinc-nickel), and must provide a minimum
16、 salt spray performance (ASTM B 117) of 120 hrs to white corrosion and 600 hr to red rust for straight tubes, and 480 hrs to red rust for post-bent tubes. Use of hexavalent chromate conversion coatings is prohibited, however trivalent chromate or chrome-free topcoats are allowed. Plating of internal
17、 surfaces is optional. 27、ours salt spray per ASTM B 117. 4.5.3.2 Required: No permanent corrosion damage that would result in not being able to service the assembly (i.e., must be able to disassemble the fitting) is allowed. 4.5.4 Moisture Ingression - SAE J1873 (Using DOT 3 Fluid) 4.5.4.1 Required: 3/16” ID - 5.0 % maximum
28、 4.5.4.2 Required: 1/8” ID - 5.0 % maximum 4.5.5 Extractables 4.5.5.1 Method Plug one end of three 12 inch hose sections (plugs shall be clean steel), fill with DOT 3 brake fluid, plug the other ends and place in a recirculating oven at 70C for 168 hours. Remove from oven and shake each sample vigor
29、ously for 30 seconds. Repeat oven exposure and shaking cycle twice. After the third cycle, remove hose sections from the oven and shake vigorously for 30 seconds and let hose sections cool to room temp. Analyze the brake fluid from each section using GC/MS and compare to fresh brake fluid. 4.5.5.2 R
30、equired Report observable changes (color, clarity, etc.). Perform analysis to determine the presence of oils and plasticizers. Contact Materials Engineering for appropriate methods and labs for this work. 4.6 Hose Protection 4.6.1 Method A The hose protection method must meet a modified ISO 6945 sta
31、ndard. The tool needs to be modified and designed to abrade parallel and tangential to the hose. The abrasion tool should also be given a 50-micron surface finish to simulate grit/sand/gravel and a force of 50 Newtons be applied vertically to the test sample. The test should run for 10,000 cycles. 4
32、.6.2 Method B The abrasion tool needs to be fixed to a section of conduit hose to simulate the abrasion between hose and conduit in the presence of grit/sand/gravel by using Grade 8 glass bead abrasion grit. A force of 20 Newtons needs to be applied vertically to the test sample. The test should run
33、 for 10,000 cycles. 4.6.3 Required - Both A and B Test Methods 4.6.3.1 Method A The material loss from Method A should not go through the protection method used. 4.6.3.2 Method B (required only if protection is not permanently mounted to the hose) The hose from Method B should not rub through the ou
34、ter layer. 5.0 QUALITY All hose supplied to this specification shall be clean and free of dirt, grease, and contamination. All rubber debris from cutting and processing will be removed. Internal release agents will be flushed from the hose. There shall be no fabric or flash exposed on the ID of the
35、hose. Tubing will have internal cleanliness conforming to 0.20 g/m2 of internal surface when determined by ASTM A 254, Section 8. All hose assemblies shall be capped after final cleaning and caps retained on hose until installation on the vehicle. 5.1 Qualification Materials submitted for approval t
36、o this specification shall include the following: 5.1.1 A detailed, signed test report documenting testing to this specification per MPAPS P-9543. 38、the test materials. 5.1.3 A complete description, including engineering prints and pictures of any non-standard test fixtures used. 5.1.4 Adhesive, substrate and any chemicals used for bonding where appropriate. 5.2 Submission The material test report shall be submitted to: Manager of Materials Engi

Formal approval is not granted until this report has been published and the new material is listed in this specification. However, the a
40、pproval report may be used as authorization for usage of that approved material/process prior to a change to this specification. 5.4 Quality Control Plan A Quality Control Plan for this product will be established by mutual agreement between Navistar and the supplier. Unless specific exception is no
41、ted, the following characteristics, where applicable*, shall be included in the plan as features for management by statistical process control.* 1. BULK HOSE: INSIDE DIAMETER (1) 2. 42、drawing and/or purchase order. * See NAVISTAR Engineering Design Standard A-16 (1) It is recognized that inside diameter is difficult to measure on rubber products, however, it is the most important dimension with regard to function and performance. 6.0 SOURCE APPROVAL AND QUALITY CONTROL 6.1 Suppli
43、er Requirements All suppliers to NAVISTAR are required to be registered to ISO 9001 Quality System Requirements. NAVISTAR will also accept TS-16949 registration as long as the supplier can also fulfill all AIAG PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) documentation and approval requirements. Supplier
44、s must maintain their certification with an accredited registrar and must furnish copies of registration certificates to the Corporate Buyer upon request. 6.2 Approval Parts supplied against contracts or purchase orders citing this specification shall be equivalent in all respects to those samples w
45、hich were approved by the purchaser. No changes in formulation or processing practices are permitted without approval. In the event that changes in material, properties, processing practices, construction, color, or labeling of the product are required, the supplier shall notify NAVISTAR Materials E
46、ngineering and Purchasing and Supplier Development of the proposed change(s). Test data indicating conformance to all requirements of this specification, test samples, and new or amended or updated Material Safety Data Sheet(s) (MSDS), in accordance with CFR Title 29, Part 1910 shall be submitted wi
