Editorial changes. 1.0 APPLICATION This specification outlines the minimum requirements for non-metallic tubing that may be used in certain portions of the air brake sys
5、tems (see Restrictions in SAE J844 and J1394), in the secondary air system (such as air horns, air shift lines, air wipers, and air seats). This tubing is restricted to a maximum working pressure of 1034 kPa (150 psi). Contact Materials Engineering for guidance on temperature limitations. 2.0 SCOPE
6、This specification covers the general requirements, property and performance requirements, quality control and KCC requirements for two types of non-metallic tubing. 2.1 Type A: This is non-reinforced tubing for use in secondary air system applications outside of the primary braking system. 2.2 Type
7、 B: This is reinforced tubing that may be used in the primary braking system as well as other air system applications and in the fuel system. NOTE 1: These tubing types should not be used for compressor discharge lines or pressures exceed 1034 kPa (150 psi). NOTE 2: Some existing engineering drawing
8、s may refer to TMS-7006, Type C in these applications, tube provided will meet the requirements of TMS-7134, Type A. NOTE 3: Some existing engineering drawings may refer to TMS-7006, Type D in these applications, tube provided will meet the requirements of TMS-7134, Type B. 2.3 Restricted Chemical S

12、 FEBRUARY 2014 Page 2 of 6 4.0 GENERAL REQUIREMENTS The tubing for these applications shall meet the performance requirements of SAE J844 (SAE J1394 for Metric Equivalents) Air Brake Tubing and SAE J1131 (Performance Requirements) and any additional requirements outlined in this specification. 4.1 M
13、aterial The tubing shall be constructed as indicated for the type: 4.1.1 Type A Construction: A solid extrusion, virgin polyamide or polyamide alloy. 4.1.2 Type B Construction: Seamless, polyamide (nylon 11, or nylon 12, or PA-612) or polyamide composite core tube wrapped with a polyester fiber rein
14、forcement, and then covered with a smooth outer sheath of polyamide (nylon 11, or nylon 12, or PA-612) or polyamide composite with the outermost layer being polyamide (nylon 11, or nylon 12, or PA-612) bonded to the core tube. 4.2 Appearance The tubing shall compare to and be equivalent in surface f
15、inish and color to the original samples approved by NAVISTAR. Tubing supplied to this specification shall be smooth and uniform, free from any visible defects, foreign matter, kinks, seams or any other condition that would impair the performance. 4.3 Color Tubing color formulation shall be consisten
16、t in hue and of uniform saturation. Type A tubing shall be solid black in color, unless otherwise specified. Type B tubing shall have a black cover, unless otherwise specified, and the core tube shall be of a contrasting color. 4.4 Tolerances Tubing provided will meet the OD and wall thickness toler

21、 “B“ (Reference ASTM D 471) and age 100 hours at 24 3C (75 5F). Determine volume change. 4.5.1.2 Required: 2.5% maximum volume change 4.5.2 Tensile and Elongation 4.5.2.1 Method: ASTM D 638 (Perform test on production lots of tubing; determine elongation and tensile strength from original tube area.

25、of material and production parts on a continuing basis according to the minimum sample size and test frequencies stipulated. The supplier shall maintain a complete record of test results. Certification of compliance shall be furnished for each shipment. All tests shall be performed in conformance to
26、 the requirements in the Properties and Performance section of this specification, as per SAE J844, SAE J1131, or SAE J1394. 30、ess submitted for approval to this specification shall include the following: 5.1.1 Report: A detailed and signed report documenting testing to this specification prepared as per TMS-9543. The report will include actual test data and not merely test summaries. 5.1.2 Failure Modes: Test samples or ph
31、otographs showing failure modes for each destructive test. 5.1.3 Test Procedure: The procedure used for preparing, curing, and assembling sample for test, will be submitted for review. 5.1.4 Analysis: A detailed analysis of the test results including assumptions made, discussion of unexpected result
32、s and a full explanation of any non-compliant results. 5.2 Key Control Characteristics Unless specific exception is noted on the engineering drawing or purchase order, the following features/characteristics* are identified as features for which management by statistical process control* is mandatory

34、PPROVAL AND QUALITY CONTROL 6.1 Supplier Requirements All suppliers to NAVISTAR are required to be registered to ISO 9001 Quality System Requirements. NAVISTAR will also accept TS-16949 registration as long as the supplier can also fulfill all AIAG PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) documentati
35、on and approval requirements. Suppliers must maintain their certification with an accredited registrar and must furnish copies of registration certificates to their Corporate Buyer upon request. 6.2 Approval Parts supplied against contracts or purchase orders citing this specification shall be equiv
36、alent in all respects to those samples which were approved by the purchaser. No changes in formulation or processing practices are permitted without approval. In the event that changes in material, properties, processing practices, construction, color, or labeling of the product are required, the su
37、pplier shall notify NAVISTAR Materials Engineering and Purchasing and Supplier Development of the proposed change(s). Test data indicating conformance to all requirements of this specification, test samples, and new or amended or updated Material Safety Data Sheet(s) (MSDS), in accordance with CFR T
38、itle 29, Part 1910 shall be submitted with the request for change. 6.3 Process Control The supplier shall either perform and report results of tests on specific lots of parts produced using ISO 9001 or TS-16949 guidelines, or provide statistical evidence of the lot having been produced in a state of
39、 statistical control and with a process capable of providing all required properties. The part supplier and the quality control manager of the using Navistar plant may determine testing and reporting requirements on specific products. 41、dentification The tubing and fittings furnished to this specification shall comply with the identification requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 106 and SAE J844, as appropriate. Any size not regulated by FMVSS shall be identified in accordance with SAE J844 and this specification. I
42、n case of conflicting identification requirements, DOT, FMVSS, and/or SAE requirements shall prevail in the order cited. 7.2 Tube Labeling Each tube shall be labeled or marked on the outer cover along the entire length of tube at intervals of 330-380 mm (13-15 inches) with a maximum spacing of 150 m
43、m (6 inches) between repeats. The markings shall be in a color contrasting to that of the tube cover color, in clearly legible block capital letters not less than 3 mm (1/8 inch) high, except for sizes under 6.4 mm (1/4 inch) O.D. which shall be the maximum size possible, with the following minimum
44、information: 7.2.1 Vendor Code: A four-or-five-digit code assigned by NAVISTAR to each vendor. Contact NAVISTAR Corporate Technical Standard for assignment of codes. 7.2.2 Hose Type: Identification by hose type, as required 7.2.3 Size: Nominal size, i.e., diameter in fractions of an inch or “dash” s
45、izes, as required. 7.2,4 NAVISTAR Part Number 7.2.5 Date Code: The six-digit date code, with first two digits (01-12) representing the month, second two digits (01-31) representing the day, and last two digits (e.g. 01) representing the year, is the preferred method for date codes. Other methods of
