Change Notice: Changed to new MPAPS format; editorial changes. 1.0 APPLICATION This specification outlines the minimum requirements for non-metallic tubing to be used in fuel lines, fuel evaporative control systems, and related applications. This m
5、aterial is an alternate to Air Brake Tubing used in the fuel system as specified in MPAPS F-7006, but this material is limited to fuel systems. NOTE: Effective January 1, 2007, all products supplied to the requirements of this specification must comply with the requirements of the MPAPS B-50 specifi
6、cation. 2.0 SCOPE This specification covers general requirements, property and performance requirements, and the quality control requirements for three types of non-metallic tubing. 2.1 Restricted Chemical Substances Effective January 1, 2007, all product supplied to the requirements of this specifi
7、cation must comply with the requirements of the MPAPS B-50 specification. 3.0 REFERENCE DOCUMENTS Unless otherwise specified, the latest issue of all referenced standards shall apply. 11、A Construction Non-reinforced, flexible tubing for use in the fuel system Multi-layered extrusion consisting of inner and outer layers of polyamide (nylon 11 or 12) with an inner core of polyolefin 4.1.2 Type B Construction Non-reinforced, semi-rigid tubing that is for use as a fuel tank drawtube. S
12、ingle wall polyamide (nylon 11 or 12) extrusion 4.1.3 Type C Construction Non-reinforced, flexible tubing for use in the fuel system (except for drawtubes), similar to Type A, but rated for higher temperatures. Multi-layered extrusion consisting of inner high temperature heat stabilized polyamide wi
13、th an integrally bonded outer layer of TPE (thermoplastic elastomer). 4.1.5 Type D Construction PTFE tubing used for high temperature engine applications This hose shall consist of a seamless tube of virgin PTFE reinforced with 90% electrical grade continuous filament glass fibers blended with 10% a
14、ramid fibers having minimum 9000 yarn denier for 5/16 inch nominal inside diameter, 14000 yarn denier for 3/8 inch, and 14000 for 1/2 inch hose bonded to tube by means of Teflon coating with weaving construction of two over and two under such that a minimum 90% coverage is achieved. 4.2. Fittings 4.
15、2.1Types A, B, and C Hose Fittings Shall have quick connect style fittings that comply with requirements of SAE J2044 or are of a similar design approved by Navistar Materials Engineering. 4.2.2 Type D Hose Fittings Fittings are permanent (crimp). Reusable fittings are not recommended. Fittings shal
16、l comply with SAE J516 except as indicated on the engineering drawing. 4.2.3 Fitting Materials Fittings shall meet the following requirements, or as specified on engineering drawing: Stainless Steel - Austenitic (18-8) Stainless Steel per MPAPS A-37; Passivate per MPAPS A-37, Type 5. 4.3 Appearance
17、The tubing shall be equivalent and comparable in surface finish and color to the original samples approved by Materials Engineering. Tubing supplied will be smooth and uniform, free from any visible defects, foreign matter, kinks, seams or any other condition that would impair the performance. 4.4 C
18、olor Tubing color formulation shall be consistent in hue and of uniform saturation. Type A tubing shall have a black cover, unless otherwise specified, and the core tube shall be of a contrasting color. Type B tubing shall be solid black in color, unless otherwise specified. 4.5 Tolerances The follo

23、) Air Brake Tubing, and additional requirements as outlined in this specification. 4.6.1 Tube and Material Performance 4.6.1.1 Method: Test to methods indicated in Table 1. 4.6.1.2 Required: The tubing shall meet the requirements in Table 1 of this specification. 4.6.2 Fuel Resistance 4.6.2.1 Method
24、: Fill a test sample 45 cm long with ASTM Fuel “B“ (Reference ASTM D 471) and age 100 hours at 24 3C. Determine volume change. 4.6.2.2 Required: 2.5% maximum volume change 4.6.3 Tensile and Elongation 4.6.3.1 Method: ASTM D 638 (Perform test on production lots of tubing; determine elongation and ten

Type D 20 MPa minimum tensile strength longitudinal, 17 MPa minimum tensile strength transverse, and a 200% minimum elongation. 4.6.4 Burst Strength 4.6.4.1 Method: Perform per SAE J844. 4.6.4.2 Required: The tubing shall meet the requirements in Table 2 of this specification. 4.6.5 Collapse Res
28、istance (Minimum Bend Radius) 4.6.5.1 Method: Perform per SAE J844. 4.6.5.2 Required: The tubing shall meet the requirements in Table 2 of this specification. 4.6.6 Stiffness 4.6.6.1 Method: Stiffness after aging determined in accordance with SAE J844. 4.6.6.2 Required: The tubing shall meet the req
29、uirements in Table 2 of this specification. 4.6.7 Vacuum Collapse 4.6.7.1 Method: Install part in the fixture in the same manner as installed on vehicle. Hold both ends rigidly with the tubing bent to the minimum bend radius. Measure the OD of the tubing at several points. Allow the assembly to heat
30、 soak at the test temperature listed below for two hours minimum. Apply a vacuum of 50 cm of Hg for five minutes. Measure the OD of the hose under vacuum. 4.6.7.1.1 Types A no micro-inch finish is specified. 6.0 QUALIFICATION Engineering qualification of sources is required in advance of production
31、shipments. Suppliers shall submit samples for approval of finish, luster, color and appearance to the Navistar Industrial Design Group. Samples shall be accompanied by test data certifying that all requirements of the specification have been met. Upon approval, styling master samples denoting the mi
32、nimum level of acceptable appearance quality shall be developed and retained by the supplier and the quality department of each using NAVISTAR facility. 6.1 Quality Control Plan A Quality Control Plan for products supplied to the requirements of this specification will be established by mutual agree
33、ment between NAVISTAR and the supplier. Unless specific exception is noted, the following characteristics, where applicable*, shall be included in the plan as features for management by statistical process control. * * Other characteristics for inclusion in the control plan may be specified on the e
34、ngineering drawing and/or purchase order. * See NAVISTAR Engineering Design Standard A-16 7.0 SOURCE APPROVAL AND QUALITY CONTROL 7.1 Supplier Requirements All suppliers to NAVISTAR are required to be registered to ISO 9001 Quality System Requirements. NAVISTAR will also accept TS-16949 registration
35、 as long as the supplier can also fulfill all AIAG PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) documentation and approval requirements. Suppliers must maintain their certification with an accredited registrar and must furnish copies of registration certificates to their Corporate Buyer upon request. Ins

AUGUST 2014 Page 6 of 9 7.2 Approval Parts supplied against contracts or purchase orders citing this specification shall be equivalent in all respects to those samples which were approved by the purchaser. No changes in formulation or processing practices are permitted without a
38、pproval. In the event that changes in material, properties, processing practices, construction, color, or labeling of the product are required, the supplier shall notify NAVISTAR Materials Engineering and Purchasing and Supplier Development of the proposed change(s). Test data indicating conformance
39、 to all requirements of this specification, test samples, and new or amended or updated Material Safety Data Sheet(s) (MSDS), in accordance with CFR Title 29, Part 1910 shall be submitted with the request for change. 7.3 Process Control The supplier shall either perform and report results of tests o
40、n specific lots of parts produced using ISO 9001 or TS-16949 guidelines, or provide statistical evidence of the lot having been produced in a state of statistical control and with a process capable of providing all required properties. The part supplier and the quality control manager of the using N
41、AVISTAR plant may determine testing and reporting requirements on specific products. 8.0 SHIPPING AND HANDLING Shipping and identification shall be in accordance with NAVISTAR Manufacturing Standard MS-D-13. Parts shall be packaged so as to avoid any damage in shipment detrimental to the appearance
42、of the part. 8.1 Identification 8.1.1 Tube Identification Each tube shall be labeled or marked on the outer cover along the entire length of tube at intervals of 292-317 mm with a maximum spacing of 150 mm between repeats. The markings shall be in a color contrasting to that of the tube cover color,
43、 in clearly legible block capital letters not less than 3 mm high, except for sizes under 6.5 mm O.D. which shall be the maximum size possible, with the following minimum information: 8.1.1.1 Vendor Code: A four-or-five-digit code assigned by NAVISTAR to each vendor. Contact Corporate Technical Stan
44、dards for assignment of codes. 8.1.1.2 Tube Type: Identification by tube type. 8.1.1.3 Size: Nominal size, i.e., diameter in fractions of an inch or “dash” sizes, as required. 8.1.1.4 Date Code: A six-digit date code, with first two digits (01-12) representing the month, (01-31) representing the day
45、, and the last two digits (02) representing the year, is the preferred method. Other methods of date code may be used by agreement between the purchaser and supplier. 8.1.1.5 Certification: DOT certification symbol when applicable. 8.1.1.6 Application: Identify for fuel applications. 8.1.1.7 Bar Cod
46、e (Type D only): Tube assemblies must be identified by a 2D barcode label per EMD 10317. Label barcode must face outward from engine after installation for visibility and ease of scanning. Label barcode image must also be located on a flat portion of the label after assembly. Proper location and ori
