4、N This specification describes the requirements for non-graphic pressure sensitive adhesive films. These films are typically made of a urethane material. They are intended for use on exterior surfaces with removability during service. Their primary purpose is to provide surface protection from corro

5、sion, abrasion, and minor impact damage (stone impingement). 2.0 SCOPE This specification covers the material requirements, physical properties, and performance requirements for these films. Unless otherwise indicated on the engineering drawing/blue print and/or purchase order, product qualification

6、 and performance evaluation will be based upon tests performed using the appropriate substrate. 2.1 Restricted Chemical Substances Effective January 1, 2007, all product supplied to the requirements of this specification must comply with the requirements of the MPAPS B-50 specification. 3.0 REFERENC

7、E DOCUMENTS Unless otherwise specified, the latest issue of all referenced standards shall apply. The following Specifications, Standards, and Regulations are referenced in this specification. A-16 ASTM D1000 MPAPS GT-Paint NAVISTAR MPAPS B-50 ASTM D1781 4.0 REQUIREMENTS Urethane films require surface treatments and coating for exterior UV resistance. Typical applications include sto

9、ne chip protection of painted surfaces and wear protection. 4.1 Adhesion 4.1.1 Method: Prepare panels and test in accordance with ASTM D903 or ASTM D1000 or ASTM D1781 or ASTM D1876 or ASTM D3807 as appropriate for the samples. Alternate test methods may be used by agreement between the supplier and

10、 purchaser. 4.1.2 Required: The film will have a minimum average adhesion of 400 N/m (2.28 lb/in). MAY 2017 Page 2 of 5 4.2 Tensile Strength at Break 4.2.1 Method: Prepare panels and test in accordance with ASTM D882. 4.2.2 Required: Tensile strength at break must be significantly higher than adhesion streng

12、th (Section 4.1). Report in lb/in. 4.3 Dimensional Stability 4.3.1 Method: Apply a 165 x 165 mm (6.5 x 6.5 inch) piece of the film to a 150 x 150 mm (6 x 6 inch) panel and trim evenly at the edge of panel. Bake the assembly at 66C (150F) for 48 hours. Remove and allow panels to cool, examine for shr

13、inkage. 4.3.2 Required: The film will not shrink more than 0.5 mm (0.02 inches) from any edge. 4.4 Abrasion Resistance 4.4.1 Method: ASTM D3884 (RPDH): Use CS-10 wheel, 500-gram load, 500 cycles. 4.4.2 Required: The film will not show any appreciable change in the abraded area. 4.5 Aging 4.5.1 Metho

14、d: Age the applied film for 7 days at 66C (150F) and 24 hours at 40C (-40F) using a different panel for each condition. Immediately after each exposure, examine film. 4.5.2 Required: The film will not blister, peel, or lose adhesion. 4.6 Elevated Temperature Exposure (high temperature applications o

15、nly) 4.6.1 Method: Prepare three panels as for DIMENSIONAL STABILITY Section 4.3. Bake three panels for 2 hours at 121C (250F). After cooling, examine film. 4.6.2 Required: The film will not blister, peel, or lose adhesion. The film will not shrink more than 0.8 mm (0.03 inches) from any edge. 4.7 T

16、hermal Shock 4.7.1 Method: Apply film to three test panels of the appropriate substrate. Place panels in an oven for 16 hours at 66 C (150 F). Immediately after removal from oven place in a cold chest at 34 C (-30 F) for 8 hours. Repeat for 7 cycles and examine. 4.7.2 Required: The film will not bli

17、ster, peel, or lose adhesion. 4.8 Humidity 4.8.1 Method: Apply film to three test panels of the appropriate substrate. Test per MPAPS GT-Paint test method 7E using panels prepared as per Section 4.10, Panel Preparation. Expose film for 100 hours of condensing humidity. 4.8.2 Required: The film will

18、not blister, peel, or lose adhesion. 4.9 Salt Spray 4.9.1 Method: Apply film to three test panels of the appropriate substrate. Test as per ASTM B117. Mount panels at an angle of 15 - 30 from vertical. Test for 200 hours and examine. 4.9.2 Required: The film will not blister, peel, or lose adhesion.

19、 4.10 Solvent and Chemical Resistance 4.10.1 Method: Immerse the film 75% of its length in the test fluid for 5 minutes. Remove the specimen, dry gently with a soft absorbent cloth, and examine 5 minutes after removal from the liquid. 4.10.2 Required: The film will not blister, peel, or lose adhesio

22、 Non-phosphorous Aluminum cleaner(2) (1) Solution: 85% water, 6% phosphoric acid (85% conc.), 8% citric acid (50% solution), 1% nitric acid (70% solution) by weight (2) Solution: 80% water, 12% citric acid (50% solution), 8% Gluconic acid (50% solution) by weight 4.11 Ultra Violet Weathering The sup

23、pliers product must pass 24 months South Florida exposure testing and/or 2,400 kJ/m2 Xenon Weatherometer before final approval of the product is given. 4.11.1 Clear Films: Initial vendor qualification and/or individual part qualification, and/or quality control testing may be based upon Xenon Arc We

24、atherometer results only. 4.11.2 South Florida Exposure: Perform test per MPAPS GT-Paint method 7F for 24 months, except that the panel preparation will be as described in Section 4.12. 4.11.3 Xenon Weatherometer: Perform test per MPAPS GT-31 Method B Xenon Exterior for a total exposure of 2400 kJ/m

25、2. 4.11.4 Required: The product will not blister, peel, or lose adhesion. Fungus growth will not be evident. 4.11.4.1 Clear Film: It will only show a slight loss of gloss and will not yellow. 4.11.4.2 Translucent and Opaque Films: It will only show a slight discoloration or loss of gloss. 4.12 Panel

26、 Preparation The product film shall be applied to test panels of the appropriate substrate that most closely represent finished products. When the substrate is a painted surface, the test panels will be prepared in accordance with MPAPS GT-Paint Section 4.2. 4.13 Finished Part Products Parts supplie

27、d to this specification will have split or scored backings to facilitate application. Every effort should be made to facilitate application of the film. The backing material will be moisture resistant and release easily from the adhesive. Protective coverings will also be moisture resistant and will

28、 remain in place until removed and then be removed easily without damage to the film. 5.0 QUALIFICATION Engineering qualification of sources is required in advance of production shipments. Samples shall be accompanied by test data certifying that all requirements of the specification have been met.

29、Suppliers shall submit samples for approval of finish, luster, color and appearance to the Navistar Industrial Design Group. Upon approval, styling master samples denoting the minimum level of acceptable appearance quality shall be developed and retained by the supplier and the quality department of

30、 each using NAVISTAR facility. Materials submitted for approval to this specification shall include the following: 5.0.1 Detailed, signed test report documenting testing to this specification per MPAPS P-9543 5.0.2 Test coupons or photographs showing failure modes for each test 5.0.3 Complete proced

Unless specific exception is noted, the following chara

34、cteristics, where applicable*, shall be included in the plan as features for management by statistical process control.* * Other characteristics for inclusion in the control plan may be specified on the engineering drawing and/or purchase order. * See NAVISTAR Engineering Design Standard A-16 6.0 SO

35、URCE APPROVAL AND QUALITY CONTROL 6.1 Supplier Requirements All suppliers to NAVISTAR are required to be registered to ISO 9001 Quality System Requirements. NAVISTAR will also accept TS-16949 registration as long as the supplier can also fulfill all AIAG PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) docum

36、entation and approval requirements. Suppliers must maintain their certification with an accredited registrar and must furnish copies of registration certificates to their Corporate Buyer upon request. 6.2 Approval Parts supplied against contracts or purchase orders citing this specification shall be

37、 equivalent in all respects to those samples which were approved by the purchaser. No changes in formulation or processing practices are permitted without approval. In the event that changes in material, properties, processing practices, construction, color, or labeling of the product are required,

38、the supplier shall notify NAVISTAR Materials Engineering and Purchasing and Supplier Development of the proposed change(s). Test data indicating conformance to all requirements of this specification, test samples, and new or amended or updated Material Safety Data Sheet(s) (MSDS), in accordance with

39、 CFR Title 29, Part 1910 shall be submitted with the request for change. 6.3 Process Control The supplier shall either, perform and report results of tests on specific lots of parts produced using ISO 9001 or TS-16949 guidelines, or provide statistical evidence of the lot having been produced in a s

40、tate of statistical control and with a process capable of providing all required properties. The part supplier and the quality control manager of the using NAVISTAR plant may determine testing and reporting requirements on specific products. 42、ication shall be in accordance with NAVISTAR Supplier Packing and Shipping Standard D-13.
