NOTE: THIS SPECIFICATION REPLACES TMS-7027 1.0 APPLICATION This specification outlines the requirements for molded, resin bonded fiberglass which is used as a thermal and acoustical liner for under cab applications. Three levels of sound transmission loss are available. 1.1 Type I: No so
5、und transmission loss requirement, this is the minimum requirement for edge coating of all grades. 1.2 Type II: Medium sound loss requirements, this is the default requirement. 1.3 Type III: High sound loss requirements. 1.4 Type IV: High sound loss requirements with foil surface and composite sound
6、 barrier. 1.5 Type V: Medium sound loss requirements with foil surface, no composite sound barrier required. 1.6 For existing engineering drawings which reference this specification but do not specify a Type (I, II, III, IV, or V), Type II will be supplied. 2.0 SCOPE This specification covers the ge
7、neral requirements, property and performance requirements, quality, quality, qualification, source approval, and quality control for 5 types of cab insulators. 2.1 Restricted Chemical Substances Effective January 1, 2007, all product supplied to the requirements of this specification must comply wit
8、h the requirements of the MPAPS B-50 specification. 3.0 REFERENCE DOCUMENTS Unless otherwise specified the latest issue of all referenced standards shall apply. OCTOBER 2016 Page 2 of 7 4.0 GENERAL REQUIREMENTS 4.1 Fiberglass Composite (Fiberglass Insulation) 4.1.1 Fiber The averag
11、e fiber diameter of the glass fiber shall be (.00023” - .00043”). The glass fibers shall be bonded with 10.5% - 17.5% phenolic binder (thermosetting resin) by weight. 4.1.2 Aluminum Foil (Type IV and V only) Aluminum alloy 1100 foil per CEMS C-10 will be used on the hot side of the engine cover insu
12、lator. This will be a thickness of 0.00285” +/- 5%. 4.1.3 Internal Composite Sound Barrier (Type IV only) Black colored Moldable EVA or PVC sound barrier material will be used as an internal composite ingredient. The boundary of the internal sound barrier must extend under the edge of the periphery
13、seal. 14、except for designated areas on the drawing where the thickness is reduced to afford higher strength or clearance. (Thickness of some part families may vary depending upon die plate requirements.) 4.1.5 Density The cab insulator will have a nominal per part weight of 114-228 grams/foot2 (3-6 lbs/ft3)
15、 of cured fiberglass (mineral wool), with a tolerance of -20% + 25% of the nominal weight. 4.2 Thermal Insulation Efficiency 4.2.1 Method: ASTM C 177 4.2.2 Requirement Shall be 0.033 watt/meter deg K (0.23 BTU in/hr ft deg. F) at 24C (75F) min. 4.3 Coating (Types I, II, III, IV, V) 4.3.1 Material Th
16、e engine side surface shall be coated with an oil resistant elastomeric compound (chloroprene or a modified nitrile) providing protection from the environment and thermal and acoustical protection. The standard coating shall be filled with aluminum to enhance radiant heat performance. A black coatin

22、t Resistance 4.6.1.1 Method: (Type I, II III) Place 10 x 10 cm (4 x 4 in) test specimen coated surface in contact with a typical aluminum or steel panel, expose to 120C (248F) for 336 hours. Cool and separate specimen from test panel. 4.6.1.2 Method: (Type IV runs and sags shall be avoided to the ex
23、tent practical by the method of manufacture and to extent that it does not interfere with the fit and function of the part. 6.0 QUALIFICATION Engineering qualification of sources is required in advance of production shipments. Samples shall be accompanied by test data certifying that all requirement
24、s of the specification have been met. 6.1 Quality Control Plan A Quality Control Plan for products supplied to the requirements of this specification will be established by mutual agreement between NAVISTAR and the supplier. Unless specific exception is noted, the following characteristics, where ap
25、plicable*, shall be included in the plan as features for management by statistical process control.* Type II, III - Coating Weight, Type IV Avg. 26、 See NAVISTAR Engineering Design Standard A-16. 6.2 The quality control plan should include periodic visual inspection for thin spots in the coating as described in Section 4.3.1 for type II and type III materials. 7.0 SOURCE APPROVAL AND QUALITY CONTROL 7.1 Supplier Requirements All suppliers to NA
27、VISTAR are required to be registered to ISO 9001 Quality System Requirements. NAVISTAR will also accept TS-16949 registration as long as the supplier can also fulfill all AIAG PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) documentation and approval requirements. Suppliers must maintain their certification
28、 with an accredited registrar and must furnish copies of registration certificates to their Corporate Buyer upon request. 30、oved by the purchaser. No changes in formulation or processing practices are permitted without approval. In the event that changes in material, properties, processing practices, construction, color, or labeling of the product are required, the supplier shall notify NAVISTAR Materials Engineering and
31、 Purchasing and Supplier Development of the proposed change(s). Test data indicating conformance to all requirements of this specification, test samples, and new or amended or updated Material Safety Data Sheet(s) (MSDS), in accordance with CFR Title 29, Part 1910 shall be submitted with the request
32、 for change. 7.3 Process Control The supplier shall either, perform and report results of tests on specific lots of parts produced using ISO 9001 or TS-16949 guidelines, or provide statistical evidence of the lot having been produced in a state of statistical control and with a process capable of pr
33、oviding all required properties. The part supplier and the quality control manager of the using NAVISTAR plant may determine testing and reporting requirements on specific products. 8.0 SHIPPING AND HANDLING Shipping and identification shall be in accordance with NAVISTAR Supplier Packing and Shippi
34、ng Standard D-13. Parts shall be packaged so as to avoid any damage in shipment detrimental to the appearance of the part. 9.0 DESIGNATION ON DRAWINGS The type insulator shall be specified.
