4、 APPLICATION This specification outlines the requirements for exhaust or turbo pipe insulation, which is used as a thermal barrier to retain or exclude thermal energy 2.0 SCOPE This specification covers the general requirements, property and performance requirements, quality, qualification, source a
5、pproval, and quality control for exhaust pipe insulation. 2.1 Restricted Chemical Substances Effective January 1, 2007, all product supplied to the requirements of this specification must comply with the requirements of the MPAPS B-50 specification. 2.2 Classification NOTE: There are currently only
6、three types of approved piping insulation. Additional types of piping insulation are expected to be identified and added to this specification in the future. 2.2.1 Type I: Blanket Type - Ceramic blanket insulation wrapped with aluminum foil tape and secured at each end with stainless steel clamps. 2
7、.2.2 Type II: Insulation Wrap Ceramic blanket insulation with fiberglass fabric inner layer and laminated aluminum foil/fiberglass outer layer secured around pipe. 2.2.3 Type III: Steel Encapsulated Fiber Mat Stainless steel outer shell with an inner layer of wrapped silicate fiber needlemat. 11、K-6929. 4.1.3 Stainless Steel Stainless steel, Type 321 or 304, per MPAPS A-37 4.2 Material Properties (Insulation Fabric) 4.2.1 Fiber Description 4.2.1.1 Ceramic Fabric (Type I and II) - The ceramic insulation shall consist of ceramic fiber spun from high purity alumina-silica raw materials. 4.2.1.
12、2 Fiberglass Fabric (Type II) The fiberglass inner layer shall consist of asbestos free flexible woven fiberglass fabric. 4.2.1.3 Laminated Aluminum Foil/Fiberglass (Type II) The outer layer shall consist of laminated aluminum foil/fiberglass material. 4.2.1.4 Stainless Steel Shell (Type III) The ou
13、ter layer shall consist of embossed stainless steel that encapsulates a fiber mat. Stainless steel shell is to be welded to the underlying pipe. 4.2.1.5 Silicate Fiber Needlemat (Type III) The silicate fiber inner layer shall consist of a flexible woven fiber mat. 18、 a clean surface, neatly trimmed edges, and made in conformance with good manufacturing practices. Defects, which affect the performance of the finished product, shall be cause for rejection. 6.0 QUALIFICATION Materials submitted for approval to this specification shall include the following: 6.1.1
19、A detailed, signed test report documenting testing to this specification per MPAPS P-9543. 6.1.2 The complete procedure used for preparing and curing materials for test, especially surface preparation (when appropriate) and condition of the test materials. 6.1.3 A complete description, including eng
20、ineering prints and pictures of any non-standard test fixtures used. 6.1.4 Adhesive, substrate and any chemicals used for bonding, where appropriate. 22、Attn: Manager of Nonmetallic Materials 6.3 Quality Control Plan A Quality Control Plan for products supplied to the requirements of this specification will be established by mutual agreement between NAVISTAR and the supplier. Unless specific exception is noted, the following characteristics, where a
23、pplicable*, shall be included in the plan as features for management by statistical process control.* * Other characteristics for inclusion in the control plan may be specified on the engineering drawing and/or purchase order. * See NAVISTAR Engineering Design Standard A-16 7.0 SOURCE APPROVAL AND Q
24、UALITY CONTROL 7.1 Supplier Requirements All suppliers to NAVISTAR are required to be registered to ISO 9001 Quality System Requirements. NAVISTAR will also accept TS-16949 registration as long as the supplier can also fulfill all AIAG PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) documentation and approv
25、al requirements. Suppliers must maintain their certification with an accredited registrar and must furnish copies of registration certificates to their Corporate Buyer upon request. 7.2 Approval Parts supplied against contracts or purchase orders citing this specification shall be equivalent in all
26、respects to those samples which were approved by the purchaser. No changes in formulation or processing practices are permitted without approval. In the event that changes in material, properties, processing practices, construction, color, or labeling of the product are required, the supplier shall
27、notify NAVISTAR Materials Engineering and Purchasing and Supplier Development of the proposed change(s). Test data indicating conformance to all requirements of this specification, test samples, and new or amended or updated Material Safety Data Sheet(s) (MSDS), in accordance with CFR Title 29, Part
28、 1910 shall be submitted with the request for change. JUNE 2016 Page 5 of 5 7.3 Process Control The supplier shall either, perform and report results of tests on specific lots of parts produced using ISO 9001 or TS-16949 guidelines, or provide statistical evidence of the
30、lot having been produced in a state of statistical control and with a process capable of providing all required properties. The part supplier and the quality control manager of the using NAVISTAR plant may determine testing and reporting requirements on specific products. 8.0 SHIPPING AND HANDLING S
31、hipping and identification shall be in accordance with NAVISTAR Manufacturing Standard MS-D-13.
