1、INTERNATIONAL TRUCK AND ENGINE CORPORATION TMS (TRUCK MATERIAL SPECIFICATION) NUMBER: TMS- 1033 TITLE. Shafts, Steel, Induction Hardened WRiTTEN/EDITED BY: PPROVED BY: Materials Engineering Materials Engineering Change Notice: Reformatted and Editorial Changes Reference: File 02 byeywords: Axle Shaf

2、t; Induction Hardened REVISION: H-1 DATE ISSUED August 2000 1.0 APPLICATION This specification is intended primarily for shafting such as axle shafts that are induction hardened to improve strength characteristics. 2.0 SCOPE This specification covers material, heat treatment, and quality. Since the

3、materials and hardening process allow considerable flexibility in the production hardened depths, several gradient curves representing minimum hardnesses are shown. 2.1 All drawings using this specification shall show the type of steel and gradient hardness curve classification requirements. 3.0 REF

4、ERENCE DOCUMENTS Unless otherwise specified, the latest issue of all referenced standards shall apply. The following standards, specifications and regulations are referenced in this specification. 8、eat Treatment All parts processed from 15B41 steel shall be normalized prior to induction hardening at a temperature sufficient to completely refine the grain size in areas which were heated for upsetting. 4.2.1 After machining, the following hardness requirements shall be met by induction hardening

9、 to a 90% minimum martensite structure throughout the induction hardened zone, followed by tempering at 150C (300F) minimum. 4.2.2 Surface Hardened Machined Surfaces Rockwell C 52-59 Unmachined Surface Rockwell C 52-59“ * If necessary, 0.38-0.76 mm (0.015-0.030 in) may be removed for hardness readin

Conversion to Rockwell C from any other scale shall not be permitted. 4.2.3 Minimum Gradient (Bodv Diameter) The gradient hardness curve shows the required minimum gradient hardness for a series of curves A through H. These curves represent the minimum hardness requirements for various sizes and

11、duty shafting. The maximum depth for each curve at Rc 48 and below shall be 3.2 mm (0.125 in) greater than the minimum depth at corresponding hardness levels. Gradient hardness or case depth should always be selected on the basis of strength necessary to exceed the stress at any location on the cros

Grinding to

17、 mandatory: 1) Check 100% by magnetic particle test method for surface defects. No circumferential or transverse indications shall be permitted. Transverse indications are defined as those indications which lie in planes at angles greater than 15“ from the centerline or axis of the shaft. 2) 100% by

None shall be permitted. 5.0 OUALITY All product supplied shall be clean and free from dirt, oils, sharp edges, or defects harmful to product performance. 6.0 SOURCE APPROVAL AND OUALITY CONTROL 6.1 Supplier Requirements Suppliers must conform to the req
