2、 mandrel type of blind rivet suitable for joining various metallic or non-metallic component parts. Allowable grip range, dimensional tolerances, and available sizes are shown on INTERNATIONAL Engineering Drawing AD-8600. These rivets are similar to those described in SAE 51200 and this SAE standard

3、 is referenced for some of the test methods required in this specification. 2.0 SCOPE This specification covers the requirements for material, mechanical properties, and test methods for two (2) types of rivets: 3.0 REFERENCE DOCUMENTS Unless otherwise specified, the latest issue of all referenced s

4、tandards shall apply. The following standards, specifications and regulations are referenced in this specification. Quality System Standard QS-9000 (IS0 9001) INTERNATIONAL IQR Quality Standard INTERNATIONAL Manufacturing Standard D-13 INTERNATIONAL ENGR Drawing AD-8600 SAE 51200 CFR Title 29, Part

5、1910 4.0 REOUIREMENTS 4.1 Material 4.1.1 Type A - Rivet body shall be made of aluminum alloy 5052 or 5056, and the mandrel shall be made of carbon steel. 4.1.2 Type B -Rivet body shall be made of low carbon steel, and the mandrel made of carbon steel. 4.2 Mechanical and Performance Properties 4.2.1

6、Shear Strength Rivets shall have ultimate shear strengths not less than the minimum values given in Table 1. Testing shall comprise of loading a single lap joint assembled with one rivet so that the direction of applied loading induces transverse shear against the rivet body, as indicated in Figure

8、 Page 1 of 3 NUMBER: TMS-3000 4.2.2 Tensile Strength Rivets shall have ultimate strengths not less than the minimum values given in Table 1. Testing shall consist of separating two plates assembled with one blind rivet, as shown in Figure 2, SAE 51200. TITLE: REVISION: Rivets - Break Mandrel Blind T

9、ype c-1 4.2.3 Blind Head Formation Load While the rivet is being set, the axially applied load necessary to upset the rivet body shall not exceed 80% of the actual mandrel break load. Test shall consist of loading the rivet, as described in Figure 3, SAE 51200. The load at which it is visually obser

10、ved that the rivet body end is upset or otherwise deformed to form a head on the blind side shall be recorded as the blind head formation load. 4.2.4 Mandrel Break Load The mandrel break load shall be within the limits specified in Table 1. Testing is performed as described in Figure 3, SAE 51200, b

11、y continuing the axially applied load, after blind head formation, until the mandrel breaks. This load shall be the mandrel break load. 4.2.5 Mandrel Pushout Load After the rivet has been installed in a joint thickness equal to the maximum specified grip range, the load required to push the remainin

12、g portion of the mandrel out of the rivet body shall be greater than 22 N (5 lbf). 14、rformance. 6.0 SOURCE APPROVAL AND QUALITY CONTROL 6.1 Supplier Requirements Suppliers must conform to the requirements of the INTERNATIONAL IQR Standard which includes conformance to the QS-9000 (IS0 9001) Quality System Standard. A mutually acceptable Quality Control Plan as described therein is r

15、equired for source approval to the requirements of this specification. No changes in formulation or pr

17、ocessing practices are permitted without approval. In the event that changes in material, properties, processing practices, construction, color, or labeling of the product are required, the supplier shall notify Truck Development and Technology Center and International Purchasing and Supplier Develo

18、pment of the proposed change(s). Test data indicating conformance to all requirements of this specification, test samples, and new or amended or updated Material Safety Data Sheet(s) (MSDS), in accordance with CFR Title 29, Part 1910 shall be submitted with the request for change. 19、ivets - Break Mandrel Blind Type c-1 6.3 Process Control The supplier shall either perform and report results of tests on specific lots of parts produced or provide statistical evidence of the lot having been produced in a state of statistical control and with a process capable of providing all requ

20、ired properties. The part supplier and the plant metallurgist andor the quality control manager of the using International plant may determine testing and reporting requirements on specific products. 7.0 SHIPPING, PACKING AND IDENTIFICATION Loading, packing and identification shall be in accordance

21、with Manufacturing Std. D-13. 8.0 DESIGNATION ON DRAWINGS Shall be as follows: Type A per TMS-3000 (Aluminum Body) or, Type B per TMS-3000 (Steel Body) NOTE: Older drawings referring only to TMS-3000 shall be Type A rivets. A. O GENERAL INFORMATION In the case of non-metallics, such as FRP or other

22、relatively soft materials, especially in thin sections or in exterior applications where corrosion might occur, consultation with the International Fastener Engineer is recommended to avoid improper application of these fasteners.
