2、 Belt Hardware; Corrosion Resistance I 1.0 APPLICATION This specification applies to the steel hardware contained in seat belt assemblies, normally designated as either attachment hardware (at or near the floor) or other hardware such as buckles, retractors, tongues, and similar metallic parts. 2.0
3、SCOPE This specification covers only the finish requirements; mechanical, chemical, and physical property requirements and test methods are defined by applicable Federal, State, and SAE specifications. 3.0 REFERENCE DOCUMENTS Unless otherwise specified, the latest issue of all referenced standards s
4、hall apply. The following standards, specifications and regulations are referenced in this specification. 5、IREMENTS Parts and assemblies supplied to this specification must meet all applicable requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 209 (FMVSS-209). 4.1 Plating; Requirements Hardware shall be either zinc, or nickel chromium plated steel or fabricated from a stainless steel with a minimu
6、m of 11.5% chromium content. 4.1.1 Finish: Parts may be supplied with either a bright, semi-bright, dull, or satin finish. The specific finish to be used on a given part or assembly will be determined by TDTC Body Group and specified on the Engineering drawing. 4.2 Post Plating; Treatment All electr
7、oplated parts shall be free from hydrogen embrittlement. A typical treatment is to bake (within two hours after plating) for four hours at 190-205C (375-400F). Mechanically plated parts do not require a baking treatment. 4.2.1 Passivation: Stainless steel parts shall be passivated by immersion in a
8、dilute nitric acid solution after manufacture. 4.2.2 Conversion Treatment: Zinc plating shall be followed by a clear chromate conversion treatment on arts that will be visible after installation in a vehicle. 10、ion must meet corrosion requirements as described in FMVSS-209. Unless otherwise agreed upon between the supplier and the purchaser, corrosion testing prescribed by ASTM B456 for nickel chromium platings shall be performed using the Acetic Acid- Salt Fog Method as described in ASTM B-287. 11、T BELT HARDWARE- REVISION: D-1 CORROSION RESISTANCE 5.0 OUALITY All production supplied shall be clean and free from dirt, oils, sharp edges, or defects harmful to product performance. 6.0 SOURCE APPROVAL AND OUALITY CONTROL 6.1 Supplier Requirements Suppliers must conform to the requirements of the
12、 INTERNATIONAL IQR Standard which includes conformance to the QS-9000 (IS0 9001) Quality System Standard. A mutually acceptable Quality Control Plan as described therein is required for source approval to the requirements of this specification. 6.2 Approval Parts supplied against contracts or purcha
13、se orders citing this specification shall be equivalent in all respects to those samples which were approved by the purchaser. No changes in formulation or processing practices are permitted without approval. In the event that changes in material, properties, processing practices, construction, colo
14、r, or labeling of the product are required, the supplier shall notify Truck Development and Technology Center and International Purchasing and Supplier Development of the proposed change(s). Test data indicating conformance to all requirements of this specification, test samples, and new or amended
15、or updated Material Safety Data Sheet(s) (MSDS), in accordance with CFR Title 29, Part 1910 shall be submitted with the request for change. 6.3 Process Control The supplier shall either perform and report results of tests on specific lots of parts produced or provide statistical evidence of the lot
16、having been produced in a state of statistical control and with a process capable of providing all required properties. The part supplier and the plant metallurgist andor the quality control manager of the using International plant may determine testing and reporting requirements on specific product
17、s. 7.0 SHIPPING, PACKING AND IDENTIFICATION Loading, packing and identification shall be in accordance with Manufacturing Std.
