5、ck Finish; Interior. 1.0 APPLICATION This specification covers the requirements for a black electrodeposited organic coating suitable for steel fasteners or other small steel parts used for decorative interior applications and requiring a black semi-gloss finish. (This specification previously cover
6、ed only black zinc plating.) 2.0 SCOPE This specification covers the requirements for surface preparation, pre-treatment, e-coat, sealer, and corrosion resistance, and quality, source approval and quality control, and approved sources. 2.1 Restricted Chemical Substances Effective JANUARY 1, 2007, al
7、l product supplied to the requirements of this specification must comply with the requirements of CEMS B-50. 3.0 REFERENCE DOCUMENTS Unless otherwise specified, the latest issue of all referenced standards shall apply. The following standards, specifications and regulations are referenced in this sp

Quality System Standard ISO 9001 or TS-16949 NAVISTAR CEMS B-50 NAVISTAR Manufacturing Standard MS-D-13 ASTM B 117 CFR Title 29, Part 1910 4.0 COATING REQUIREMENTS 4.1 Surface Preparation Prior to coating, the parts shall be thoroughly cleaned and free from rust, scale, oil and other fo
9、reign matter detrimental to the final finish. The cleaning operation must be controlled to prevent hydrogen embrittlement especially in those parts which are hardened, cold worked, or subject to high service stresses. Minimum phosphate coating mass shall be 6 to 10 g/m2. 4.3 E-coat The zinc phosphate pre-treatment will be followed by a cathod
12、ic electrocoat applied via bulk processing. Minimum thickness will be 10 m. 4.4 Sealer A water-based corrosion-protection fluid/sealer will be applied after the e-coat process. The sealer shall be dry to the touch. 4.5 Corrosion Resistance Finished parts must exhibit no corrosion on significant surf
13、aces after salt spray testing per ASTM B117 for 120 hrs minimum. Significant surfaces are those which are visible and subject to wear or corrosion or both, or surfaces for which the coating is otherwise functionally necessary. 5.0 QUALITY The coating shall be dense and uniform, free from porosity, p
14、inholes and blisters, and substantially free from other defects that may affect the appearance or protective value of the coating. The finish or subsequent processes shall not significantly interfere with the free movement of attached parts, such as SEMS (screw and washer) assemblies. 6.0 SOURCE APP
15、ROVAL AND QUALITY CONTROL 6.1 Supplier Requirements All suppliers to NAVISTAR are required to be registered to ISO 9001 Quality System Requirements. NAVISTAR will also accept TS-16949 registration as long as the supplier can also fulfill all AIAG PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) documentation
16、 and approval requirements. Suppliers must maintain their certification with an accredited registrar and must furnish copies of registration certificates to their Corporate Buyer upon request. 6.2 Approval Parts supplied against contracts or purchase orders citing this specification shall be equival
17、ent in all respects to those samples which were approved by the purchaser. No changes in formulation or processing practices are permitted without approval. In the event that changes in material, properties, processing practices, construction, color, or labeling of the product are required, the supp
18、lier shall notify Materials Engineering at NAVISTAR Truck Development and Technology Center (TDTC) and Purchasing and Supplier Development of the proposed change(s). Test data indicating conformance to all requirements of this specification, test samples, and new or amended or updated Material Safet
19、y Data Sheet(s) (MSDS), in accordance with CFR Title 29, Part 1910 shall be submitted with the request for change. 6.3 Process Control The supplier shall either perform and report results of tests on specific lots of parts produced using ISO 9001 or TS-16949 guidelines, or provide statistical eviden
20、ce of the lot having been produced in a state of statistical control and with a process capable of providing all required properties.
