3、d of a needled or bonded felted padding of synthetic and natural fibers (with the exception of 1B), suitable for use as a floor mat, dash, or carpet underlayment material. The material types are specified as follows: Type IA: Material is suitable for general applications. Type IB: Material is suitab
4、le for general applications, except closed cell PVC/NBR foam will be used in place of needled or bonded felted padding of synthetic natural fibers. Note: Type IB does not provide any acoustical benefit. Type II: Material is suitable for acoustical applications. (Must be approved by the Navistar Truc
5、k Development and Technology Center, Vehicle Acoustics Group, for the intended use.) NOTE: THIS SPECIFICATION REPLACES TMS-6508 2.0 SCOPE This specification covers the general requirements, property and performance requirements, quality, and inspection tests. An approved source list is included. 2.1

13、terior Materials, and the requirements of TMS-9544. 4.3.8 Sound Absorption Properties 4.3.8.1 METHOD: Test in accordance with ASTM C 384 (ASTM E 1050 is considered equivalent). 4.3.8.2 REQUIRED: Shall meet the indicated minimum requirements for absorption coefficients for each type as indicated belo
14、w. 4.3.8.2.1 Type IA and IB: No specific acoustic absorption requirements 4.3.8.2.2 Type II: Normal-incidence absorption shall be measured at: 500, 630, 800, 1000, 1250, 1600, 2000, 2500, 3150, and 4000 Hz. The normal-incidence absorption coefficient at any one frequency shall not be less than 0.20
15、and the average of the normal incidence absorption coefficients shall not be less than 0.70. 5.0 QUALITY This material shall have necessary flexibility to meet contour requirements without separation, and be free from residual asphalt and other contaminants which may cause the padding to stain trim
16、cover materials. 5.1 Qualification Materials submitted for approval to this specification shall include the following: 5.1.1 A detailed, signed test report documenting testing to this specification per TMS-9543. 5.1.2 The complete procedure used for preparing and curing materials for test, especiall
17、y surface preparation (when appropriate) and condition of the test materials. 5.1.3 A complete description, including engineering prints and pictures of any non-standard test fixtures used. 5.1.4 Adhesive, substrate and any chemicals used for bonding where appropriate. 5.2 Submission The material te
