These two types of thread, available in two sizes (92 an
4、d 138), are both suitable for sewing seat covering materials and other fabrics. Selection of the type of thread is based upon availability and other economic considerations, whereas selection of thread size is based upon the strength requirements and appearance of the seam, as well as economic consi
5、derations. 2.0 SCOPE This specification covers general requirements, property and performance requirements, quality, identification, inspection tests, source approval and quality control. 3.0 REFERENCE DOCUMENTS Unless otherwise specified, the latest issue of all referenced standards shall apply. 7、IONAL CEMS GT-31 4.0 GENERAL REQUIREMENTS 4.1 Material Nylon Yarn - The thread shall be made from DuPont Type 331 nylon or equivalent. The raw material shall be a pre-stretched high tenacity Nylon 66 of bright luster, finished into a three or four cord (depending upon size) twisted thread that shall
8、 comply with the requirements of this specification. The bonding agent shall cause no excessive wiriness, flaking or color change at the needle or otherwise interfere with a satisfactory sewing operation. 10、e made from three or four plies (depending upon size) of high tenacity Dacron, Type 51 (or equivalent) bright filaments, twisted into a uniform thread that shall comply with the requirements of this specification. 4.3 Color The color shall be as specified and shall match the color and sheen of stand
11、ard approved fabric masters in the TDTC Industrial Design Department. 4.4 Characteristics 4.4.1 Twist Test Method: ASTM D-204 4.4.1.1 Required Unless otherwise specified, the threads shall be twisted in the left hand or Z direction such that when the thread is held vertically, the spirals shall incl
12、ine in the same direction as the center portion of the letter Z. Nylon threads shall have 2.3-4.3 turns per cm (6-11 turns per in) and Dacron thread shall have 2.9-4.3 turns per cm (7.5-11 turns per in). 14、 And Performance Requirements 4.5.1 Tensile Strength 4.5.1.1 Method To be performed on a constant rate of traverse type tensile machine with specimen clamps of the smooth drum type not less than 13 mm (1/2 in) diameter. The distance between the bite of the clamps at the start of the tests shall be 2
15、54 mm (10 in). Strands of the thread, cut from consecutive positions on the spool, shall be tested individually. The test shall be conducted with the pulling clamp moving at a uniform speed of 305 13 mm per minute (12 1/2 in per minute). If any strand breaks within 13 mm (1/2 in) of the clamps, that
16、 result shall be discarded. The average of the results of 10 satisfactory tests from at least five tubes shall be reported. 18、ethod The elongation shall be determined simultaneously with the tensile strength by means of an automatic recording device attached to the tensile machine. The average of the results of 10 satisfactory tests shall be reported. 4.6.2 Required Nylon 13-27% Dacron 8-20% 4.7 Bonding and Finishing Agent
19、s (Nylon Only) 4.7.1 Method Cut a specimen of the thread weighing approximately 5 grams. Dry four hours at 100C (212F) and obtain dry weight. Extract four hours in a Soxhlet Extraction Unit with ethyl alcohol. Dry four hours at 100C (212F). Reweigh. Calculate percent bonding and finishing agents ext
20、racted based on dry weight. 4.7.2 Required 3-15% Total. 4.8 Accelerated Weathering per CEMS GT-31, Method A The material shall fade no more than the standard approved production samples per DRD in the Plant Inspection Department or TDTC Industrial Design. 4.9 Sewing Tests After the samples have been
21、 tested for physical requirements, they shall be subjected to a sewing machine test on a regular production run. The samples shall sew without excessive breakage when compared to the average amount of breakage based on experience for the particular size, quality and operation. A shipment may be reje
22、cted because of excessive breakage. 4.10 Flammability Resistance (See Note) Material and parts supplied to this specification shall conform to and be certified by the supplier to meet the requirements of the latest issue of the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard #302 - ability of Interior Materia
23、ls, and the requirements of TMS-9544. FlammNote: Specimen Preparation for Flammability Requirement The specimen shall be completely saturated with wet steam at 77-93C (170-200F) followed by hang drying in a convection oven for 16 hours at 82C (180F), followed by the conditioning as specified by the
24、Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard #302. 5.0 QUALITY The thread shall contain no tied knots and shall be free from imperfections that would cause the thread to break in sewing. 26、ll be performed by the trim fabricator at intervals sufficient to insure adherence to the requirements of this specification. 6.0 SOURCE APPROVAL AND QUALITY CONTROL 6.1 Supplier Requirements All suppliers to INTERNATIONAL Truck and Engine are required to be registered to QS-9000 Quality System Requ
27、irements. INTERNATIONAL will also accept ISO 9000 or TS-16949 registration as long as the supplier can also fulfill all AIAG PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) documentation and approval requirements. Suppliers must maintain their certification with an accredited registrar and must furnish copi
28、es of registration certificates to the INTERNATIONAL Corporate Buyer upon request. 6.2 Approval Parts supplied against contracts or purchase orders citing this specification shall be equivalent in all respects to those samples which were approved by the purchaser. No changes in formulation or proces
29、sing practices are permitted without approval. In the event that changes in material, properties, processing practices, construction, color, or labeling of the product are required, the supplier shall notify Materials Engineering at TDTC and Purchasing and Supplier Development of the proposed change
30、(s). Test data indicating conformance to all requirements of this specification, test samples, and new or amended or updated Material Safety Data Sheet(s) (MSDS), in accordance with CFR Title 29, Part 1910 shall be submitted with the request for change. 6.3 Process Control The supplier shall either
31、perform and report results of tests on specific lots of parts produced or provide statistical evidence of the lot having been produced in a state of statistical control and with a process capable of providing all required properties. The part supplier and the plant metallurgist and/or the quality co
32、ntrol manager of the using International plant may determine testing and reporting requirements on specific products. 7.0 SHIPPING, PACKING AND IDENTIFICATION 7.1 Identification Each tube, and cartons containing tubes, shall bear the name, initial, monogram or trademark of the manufacturer; also, th
33、e color and the size of thread. In addition, cartons shall show the net weight per carton. 8.0 DESIGNATION ON DRAWINGS The drawing shall specify the size (138 or 92) and any other characteristics such as color which might not be specified herein. All drawings specifying only TMS-7005 shall be the he
