Reference: File 30-14D Keywords: Molded Polyethylene 1.0 APPLICATION This specification covers unfilled polyethylene thermoplastic material suitable for manufacture into finished parts by injection moldi

4、ng, extrusion, vacuum forming, or any other feasible molding process. Parts such as defroster nozzles, heater/air conditioning ducts, and wheel splash panels are typical applications. 2.0 SCOPE This specification covers the requirements for basic material properties (cell limits), molded part proper

5、ties (suffixes), and quality. 3.0 REFERENCE DOCUMENTS Unless otherwise specified, the latest issue of all referenced standards shall apply. 7、perties Material purchased to this specification shall meet the basic property requirements selected from the table. Properties shall be specified by cell limits, such as 3-2-5-0-3-1. Each digit refers to a cell limit in the table, and represents a property as indicated in the properties table 4.1.2

10、um 38C (100F) Flexural Modulus Unspecified Specific Gravity 0.941 to 0.965 Environmental Stress Cracking Resistance Less Than 1 Hour 4.2 Suffixes Suffix letters indicate material or molded part property requirements in addition to those shown in the table. The following suffixes shall be used to ind

11、icate additional required properties: 4.2.1 A -Types of Polyethylene Polymers A1Homopolymers - to be used in parts that are not highly stressed. A2Copolymers - to be used in parts that will be under high stresses. A3Crosslinkable compounds - to be used in areas of high heat and stress concentrations

12、. 4.2.2 B - Melt Index Requirements shall be determined by ASTM D-1238 as follows: B10.3 maximum for parts to be blow molded or vacuum formed. B20.6 maximum for parts to be blow molded or vacuum formed. B32.0 maximum for parts to be blow molded, vacuum formed, or injection molded. B45.0 maximum for

13、parts to be injection or rotational molded. B50.9 maximum for parts to be injection or rotational molded. 15、o sunlight under glass shall be tested per Method A for a minimum of 1200 kj. C2: Exterior parts shall be tested per Method B for a minimum of 3600 kj. 4.2.3.1 Required shall have no visible color change greater than E of 3. 4.2.4 D - Color Requirements D1 Pigmented part color shall be specified on

16、the drawing per designation system in CEMS G-5. The pigment shall be evenly dispersed to insure uniform coloring throughout the part. D2 Paint color shall be specified on the drawing per designation system in CEMS G-5. The painted part shall meet requirements of TMS-9008. 4.2.5 E - Surface Finish Re

17、quirements shall be noted as follows, and shall compare to finishes found in the SPI-SPE mold finish comparison kit (D-M-E Corporation). E1 No. 1 - 8000 Grit (#3 Micron Range) E2 No. 2 - 1200 Grit (#15 Micron Range) E3 No. 3 - 320 Emery Cloth E4 No. 4 - 280 Stone E5 No. 5 - 240 Dry blast, 127 mm at

18、690 kPa (5 in distance at 100 psi) E6 No. 6 - 24 Grit dry blast, 76 mm at 690 kPa (3 in distance at 100 psi) 4.2.6 F -Flame Resistant Material and parts supplied to this specification shall conform to and be certified by the supplier to meet the requirements of the latest issue of the Federal Motor

19、Vehicle Safety Standard No. 302 - Flammability of Interior Materials and shall meet the requirements of TMS-9544. 4.2.7 Z -Special Requirements Special requirements shall be noted on the drawing. 5.0 QUALITY All parts shall maintain the same pattern, color, and finish as approved prototype parts in

20、the Industrial Design Department, TDTC. No voids in the material, surface defects, flash, or flow patterns are permissible. No change in manufacturing process or plastic formulation shall be made without approval of the proper engineering authority. 6.0 SOURCE APPROVAL AND QUALITY CONTROL 6.1 Suppli

21、er Requirements All suppliers to INTERNATIONAL Truck and Engine are required to be registered to QS-9000 Quality System Requirements. INTERNATIONAL will also accept ISO 9000 or TS-16949 registration as long as the supplier can also fulfill all AIAG PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) documentati

22、on and approval requirements. Suppliers must maintain their certification with an accredited registrar and must furnish copies of registration certificates to the INTERNATIONAL Corporate Buyer upon request. 24、 against contracts or purchase orders citing this specification shall be equivalent in all respects to those samples which were approved by the purchaser. No changes in formulation or processing practices are permitted without approval. In the event that changes in material, properties, processing p

25、ractices, construction, color, or labeling of the product are required, the supplier shall notify Materials Engineering at TDTC and Purchasing and Supplier Development of the proposed change(s). Test data indicating conformance to all requirements of this specification, test samples, and new or amen

26、ded or updated Material Safety Data Sheet(s) (MSDS), in accordance with CFR Title 29, Part 1910 shall be submitted with the request for change. 6.3 Process Control The supplier shall either perform and report results of tests on specific lots of parts produced or provide statistical evidence of the

27、lot having been produced in a state of statistical control and with a process capable of providing all required properties. The part supplier and the plant metallurgist and/or the quality control manager of the using plant may determine testing and reporting requirements on specific products. 7.0 SH

28、IPPING, PACKING AND IDENTIFICATION Loading, packing, and identification shall be in accordance with Manufacturing Std. D-13. 8.0 DESIGNATION ON DRAWINGS The material shall be designated in the same manner as the following example: 3-2-5-0-3-1, A2, B2, D2 TMS-7039 D2 - Color shall be NAV 2284 Red The

29、 six digits preceding the TMS number refer to cell limits in the table. The first digit always refers to the tensile yield strength, here 10.3 MPa (1500 psi). The second digit always refers to Izod impact strength, here at 0.03 J/mm (0.6 ftlb/in) of notch. The third digit refers to the deflection te

30、mperature at 1820 kPa (264 psi), here 38C (100F). The fourth digit refers to the flexural modulus, unspecified here. The fifth digit refers to the specific gravity, here 0.941 to 0.965. The last digit refers to the environmental stress cracking resistance; in this example less than 1 hour. The suffi

31、x letters in this example require that the material be a polyethylene copolymer (A2) and have a melt index of 0.6 (B2), maximum.
