Reference: File 30-13E Keywords: Decorative Metallizing; Plastics 1.0 APPLICATION This specification covers a bright, vacuum metallized, decorative finish applied to clear or opaque plasti

4、c parts used for interior applications such as dome light bezels, arm rests, horn buttons, and similar applications. It is applied as a first-surface coating (the nearest visible surface when the part is installed in the vehicle). The use of these parts should be limited to applications where corros

5、ion and wear conditions are considered to be mild. 2.0 SCOPE This specification covers processing, finish requirements, performance requirements, quality, source approval and quality control. 3.0 REFERENCE DOCUMENTS Unless otherwise specified, the latest issue of all referenced standards shall apply

6、. The following standards, specifications and regulations are referenced in this specification. Quality System Standard QS-9000 (ISO 9000 or TS-16949) INTERNATIONAL IQR Quality Standard CFR Title 29, Part 1910 CEMS GT-31 4.0 REQUIREMENTS The coating shall consist of three layers on the plastic subst

7、rate: 4.1 Finish Coating Process 1) A resinous base coat applied to the cleaned and dried significant (first-surface) surface by spraying, flowing, or dipping, and then baked. 2) A bright, thin metallic film deposited in a vacuum from the vaporization of a metal such as aluminum, chromium, copper, g

10、tachment areas. The appearance shall be similar to a bright, lustrous, chrome plated surface and must match the prototype parts approved by the Industrial Design Department at TDTC. 4.3 Adhesion 4.3.1 Method Apply a strip of adhesive tape (#710 Scotch Tape - 3M Company) 1.9 cm (3/4 in) wide to the c

11、oated surface. Pull tape at 90 to the surface. 4.3.2 Required Coating shall not adhere to tape. 4.4 Accelerated Weathering 4.4.1 Method Interior parts, which are exposed to sunlight under glass, shall be tested per Method A of CEMS GT-31 for a minimum of 1200 kj. 4.4.2 Required Shall have no visible

12、 color change greater than E of 3. 4.5 Wear Resistance 4.5.1 Method Expose coated surface to RCA abrasion machine for 40 cycles. Perfection Paper Company #7976 perforation tape buff colored, unoiled, 1.7 cm (11/16 in) wide on 5.1 cm (2 in) core, 21.6 cm (8.5 in) diameter roll. Tape Travel: 2.84 m (1

13、12 in) Length of Tape in Contact with Sample: 5.5 cm (2.18 in) Speed: 2.94 cycles/sec 4.5.2 Required No deterioration of surface or metallic film. 4.6 Thermal Cycling 4.6.1 Method Subject to one complete cycle consisting of the following sequence: 1) 95 3C (185 5F) for 24 hours. 2) 22 3C ( 72 5F) fo

14、r 3 hours. 3) -29 1C (-20 2F) for 24 hours. 4) Allow to return to room temperature. 4.6.2 Required No evidence of failure due to cracks, crazing, blistering, blooming or loss of adhesion. 4.7 Perspiration Resistance 4.7.1 Method Immerse metallized part in each of the required solutions for 24 hours.

15、 Remove and allow to drain. Heat in a recirculating oven at 38 1C (100 2F) for six hours. 17、no-Hydrochloride* Make up to 1 liter with distilled water (pH 3.5) 4.7.1.2 Solution B (Alkaline) 10 g Sodium Chloride 4 g Ammonium Carbonate, USP 1 g Disodium Hydrogen Phosphate, Anhydrous 0.25 g Histidine Mono-Hydrochloride* Make up to 1 liter with distilled water (pH 8.0) (*Winthrop Laboratories,

18、1450 Broadway, New York, NY) 4.7.2 Required No deterioration, change in luster, or loss of adhesion. 5.0 QUALITY Coating shall be smooth and adherent. It shall be bright and have a uniform reflective finish or gloss. No runs, sags, wrinkles, or skips shall be permitted. The various layers making up

19、the coating shall be compatible with fabric and trim materials used in vehicle interiors (vinyl chloride fabrics for door panels and hardboard for headliners). 5.1 Plastic Substrate The plastic surfaces considered significant shall be free from scratches, pits, cracks, and other defects which will n

20、ot be covered by the base coat. 5.2 Base Coat The base coat shall be compatible with the plastic substrate and formulated to provide maximum smoothness, adhesion, gloss and durability. 5.3 Metallic Film The film shall be uniform in thickness with no blisters, pits, nodules, bubbles, or cracks. 5.4 T

21、op Coat The top coat shall be compatible with other coatings and shall not discolor on aging. 6.0 SOURCE APPROVAL AND QUALITY CONTROL 6.1 Supplier Requirements All suppliers to INTERNATIONAL Truck and Engine are required to be registered to QS-9000 Quality System Requirements. INTERNATIONAL will als

22、o accept ISO 9000 or TS-16949 registration as long as the supplier can also fulfill all AIAG PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) documentation and approval requirements. 24、D accredited registrar and must furnish copies of registration certificates to the INTERNATIONAL Corporate Buyer upon request. 6.2 Approval Parts supplied against contracts or purchase orders citing this specification shall be equivalent in all respects to those samples which were approved by the pu

25、rchaser. No changes in formulation or processing practices are permitted without approval. In the event that changes in material, properties, processing practices, construction, color, or labeling of the product are required, the supplier shall notify Materials Engineering at TDTC and Purchasing and

26、 Supplier Development of the proposed change(s). Test data indicating conformance to all requirements of this specification, test samples, and new or amended or updated Material Safety Data Sheet(s) (MSDS), in accordance with CFR Title 29, Part 1910 shall be submitted with the request for change. 6.

27、3 Process Control The supplier shall either perform and report results of tests on specific lots of parts produced or provide statistical evidence of the lot having been produced in a state of statistical control and with a process capable of providing all required properties. The part supplier and
