Reference: File 30-13A, 30-13E Keywords: Second Surface Decorative Finish 1.0 APPLICATION This specification covers vacuum metallized or painted bright decorative finishes appl

4、ied to the second surface (the reverse side or second visible surface) of a clear plastic. This process may be used on interior or exterior applications such as light bezels, horn buttons, product graphics and similar applications. 2.0 SCOPE This specification covers the processing, finish requireme

5、nts, performance requirements, and quality. 3.0 REFERENCE DOCUMENTS Unless otherwise specified, the latest issue of all referenced standards shall apply. The following standards, specifications and regulations are referenced in this specification. Quality System Standard QS-9000 (ISO 9000 or TS-1694

6、9) ASTM B 117 INTERNATIONAL IQR Quality Standard TMS-9008 INTERNATIONAL Manufacturing Standard D-13 TMS-7051 CFR Title 29, Part 1910 CEMS GT-31 4.0 PROCESS AND PERFORMANCE 4.1 Vacuum Metallized Process 4.1.1 A clear, resinous base coat applied to the cleaned and dried significant (second) surface by

7、 spraying, flowing, or dipping, and then baking. 4.1.2 A bright, thin metallic film deposited in a vacuum from the vaporization of a metal such as aluminum, chromium, copper, gold or silver. 4.1.3 A baked, pigmented, protective top coat. 4.2 Painted/Coated Shall conform to the requirements of TMS-90

No runs, sags, blisters, wrinkles or skips shall be permitted. 4.3 Electroplated Chrome plated plastic components shall conform to the requirements of TMS-70

10、51. 4.4 Finish Requirements Coating shall be of uniform color and brightness which is free from shadows or color fringes on the significant visible surface. The appearance shall be match the prototype parts approved by the Industrial Design Department at TDTC. 4.5 Component Performance Requirements

11、Each applied layer to the polymeric lens must pass the following tests: 4.5.1 Adhesion Apply a strip of adhesive tape (#710 Scotch Tape - 3M Company) 1.9 cm (3/4 in) wide to the coated surface. Pull tape at 90 to the surface. 4.5.1.1 Required Coating shall not adhere to tape. 4.5.2 Accelerated Weath

12、ering Interior parts, per Method A of CEMS GT-31, 1200 kj minimum exposure. Exterior parts, per Method B of CEMS GT-31, 3600 kj minimum exposure. 4.5.2.1 Required No deterioration or color change greater than E of 3 of coating. 4.6 Assembly Durability Finished parts (normally composed of an acrylic

13、insert with second surface decorative finishes, bonded into a metal or plastic bezel) must withstand the following indicated test procedures without exhibiting objectionable deleterious effects such as, but not limited to: material embrittlement. color change of plastic or applied finish. surface ye

14、llowing, chalking, crazing, cracking, distortion, gloss change, tackiness, hardness change. loss of adhesion of applied finishes. loss of adhesion of insert from bezel. Corroded appearance of electro-deposited, vacuum deposited, or sputtered metals. 4.6.1 Conditioning Assemblies will be conditioned

15、for 7 days at 70C in an air-circulating oven. No change of color or appearance will be visible prior to the start of testing. 17、ingers and moderate pressure, with a soft cotton cloth saturated with VM&P naphtha. 4.6.3 Moisture and Cold Cycle Test: Fifteen (15) cycles, each cycle consisting of: 24 hours humidity per ASTM D2247. 20 hours minimum at 23 2C. 4 hours at 23 2C. 4.6.4 Neutral Salt Spray Test: One hundred sixty-eight

18、 (168) hours exposure per ASTM B-117. 4.6.5 Thermal Cycle Test: Subject to three complete cycles consisting of the following sequence: 1) 79 3C (175 5F) for 20 hours. 2) 22 3C ( 72 5F) for 4 hours. 3) -29 1C (-20 2F) for 20 hours. 4) 22 3C ( 72 5F) for 4 hours. 4.6.6 Detergent Resistance Test: Twent

19、y-four (24) hours immersion in a solution consisting of 1 part detergent and 100 parts water at 23 2C. 4.6.7 Florida Exposure Test: 150,000 Langleys exposure to direct weather in Florida, 5 degrees from the horizontal, facing south, open rack. This test is for initial engineering approval of acrylic

20、 molding compounds, decorative finishes and protective backcoats. 5.0 QUALITY Coatings shall be smooth and adherent. No runs, sags, blisters, wrinkles, or skips are permitted in the coatings. The film will be of uniform color and brightness, free from shadows or fringes. The appearance, shape, textu

21、re, and hue shall match the prototype samples originally approved by the Industrial Design Department at TDTC. 6.0 SOURCE APPROVAL AND QUALITY CONTROL 6.1 Supplier Requirements All suppliers to INTERNATIONAL Truck and Engine are required to be registered to QS-9000 Quality System Requirements. INTER

22、NATIONAL will also accept ISO 9000 or TS-16949 registration as long as the supplier can also fulfill all AIAG PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) documentation and approval requirements. 25、e approved by the purchaser. No changes in formulation or processing practices are permitted without approval. In the event that changes in material, properties, processing practices, construction, color, or labeling of the product are required, the supplier shall notify Materials Engineering at TDT

26、C and Purchasing and Supplier Development of the proposed change(s). Test data indicating conformance to all requirements of this specification, test samples, and new or amended or updated Material Safety Data Sheet(s) (MSDS), in accordance with CFR Title 29, Part 1910 shall be submitted with the re

27、quest for change. 6.3 Process Control The supplier shall either perform and report results of tests on specific lots of parts produced or provide statistical evidence of the lot having been produced in a state of statistical control and with a process capable of providing all required properties. Th

28、e part supplier and the plant metallurgist and/or the quality control manager of the using International plant may determine testing and reporting requirements on specific products. 7.0 SHIPPING, PACKING AND IDENTIFICATION Loading, packing and identification shall be in accordance with Manufacturing
