4、 a foam tri-laminate mattress and three types of innerspring mattresses that are used in the sleeper compartments of International trucks. Type I is a standard innerspring mattress that is used in service parts, Type II is a premium innerspring mattress that is used in current production, and Type I
5、II is an innerspring mattress that tapers from top to bottom to accommodate a smaller bottom width and length of finish mattress. 2.0 SCOPE This specification covers the general construction, durability, performance requirements, design, quality, qualification, shipping and identification, and sourc
6、e approval procedures for innerspring and foam mattresses. 2.1 Restricted Chemical SubstancesEffective January 1, 2007, all product supplied to the requirements of this specification must comply with the requirements of the CEMS B-50 specification. 3.0 REFERENCE DOCUMENTS Unless otherwise specified,

11、 by International Truck and Engine Corporation. 4.1 Construction of Innerspring Mattress 4.1.1 Innerspring Type 1: The innerspring configuration shall be a Bonnell coil, 312 count (based on full size). The coils shall be 13.5 gauge steel and the helicals shall be 17 gauge steel. The size of the indi
12、vidual parts will be indicated by the engineering drawing. When indicated on the engineering drawing, the innerspring will articulate to fit into the sleeper compartment. Type II: The innerspring configuration shall be a 5” Holland Maid Innerspring unit 308 count (based on full size). The interior c
13、oils shall be 13.5 gauge steel, edge coils shall be 13 gauge steel and the helicals shall be 17.5 gauge steel. Type III: The innerspring configuration shall be a Marshall Unit, 520 count (based on full size). The coils shall be electronically tempered, 15.5 gauge steel, 5-1/8“ Samson technology and
14、will be individually encased by ultrasonically welding special Hanes Quantum non-woven fabric that flexes with the coil. The innerspring unit shall taper from top to bottom to accommodate a smaller bottom width and length of finished mattress. The mattress ticking shall be constructed of a bamboo st
15、retch knit material per TMS-7088, Type IV. 4.1.2 Border Rod Type I: Border rods shall be made of 9 gauge steel wire. Type II: Border rods shall be made of 6 gauge steel wire with three Holland Wire edge clips evenly spaced and affixed to the top and bottom border wire on each side of the length on t
16、he innerspring. Type III: Border rods shall be 9 gauge steel wire affixed with c-rings. 4.1.3 Insulator Type I: The insulator shall be .75 oz. resinated fiber pad, top and bottom. Type II: The insulator shall be .75 oz. resinated fiber pad, top and bottom. Type III: The innersprings are individually
17、 wrapped in cloth; therefore, an insulator is not required. 4.1.4 Padding Padding materials shall be sufficient to meet the finished size requirements as well as the performance requirements. 4.1.5 Foam Foam for innerspring mattresses shall meet the requirements of TMS-6505 with the following ILD re

22、or 50,000 cycles. 4.3.1.2 Required: No more than 12.7mm (.50 in) loss in total height. There shall not be any objectionable wear or damage that would prevent continued use of the mattress. 4.4 Flammability The finished composite must conform to and be certified to meet all requirements of FMVSS-302
23、and shall meet all requirements of TMS-9544. Components of the assembly/composite which are not 100% bonded together shall be tested separately and each component must demonstrate required flammability resistance. Components of the composite which are 100% bonded together are not specifically requir
24、ed to demonstrate flammability resistance when tested separately as individual parts, however; the bonded composite must demonstrate the required flammability resistance. 5.0 QUALITY Material supplied shall be free from objectionable odor, be of uniform quality, and shall match the pattern, color, f
25、inish, and texture of pre-production approved samples on file in the Industrial Design Department at TDTC. 6.0 SOURCE APPROVAL AND QUALITY CONTROL 6.1 Supplier Requirements All suppliers to International Truck and Engine are required to be registered to ISO 9001 Quality System Requirements. Internat
26、ional will also accept TS-16949 registration as long as the supplier can also fulfill all AIAG PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) documentation and approval requirements. Suppliers must maintain their certification with an accredited registrar and must furnish copies of registration certificate
27、s to their International Corporate Buyer upon request. 6.2 Approval Parts supplied against contracts or purchase orders citing this specification shall be equivalent in all respects to those samples which were approved by the purchaser. No changes in formulation or processing practices are permitted
28、 without approval. In the event that changes in material, properties, processing practices, construction, color, or labeling of the product are required, the supplier shall notify Materials Engineering at TDTC and Purchasing & Logistics of the proposed change(s). Test data indicating conformance to

31、 either perform and report results of tests on specific lots of parts produced using ISO 9001 or TS-16949 guidelines, or provide statistical evidence of the lot having been produced in a state of statistical control and with a process capable of providing all required properties. The part supplier a
32、nd the plant metallurgist and/or the quality control manager of the using International plant may determine testing and reporting requirements on specific products. 7.0 SHIPPING, PACKING, AND IDENTIFICATION Shipping, packing and identification shall be in accordance with Manufacturing Std.
