Reference: File 50-7 Keywords: Pinstriping 1.0 APPLICATION This specification covers the application of pinstriping to sleeper boxes or cabs that have been finished pain
5、ted with thermosetting acrylic enamels or urethane paints. 2.0 SCOPE This specification covers surface preparation, general performance requirements and material sources. 2.1 Restricted Chemical Substances Effective January 1, 2007, all product supplied to the requirements of this specification must
6、 comply with the requirements of the CEMS B-50 specification. 3.0 REFERENCE DOCUMENTS Unless otherwise specified, the latest issue of all referenced standards shall apply. A-16 NAVISTAR CEMS B-50 NAVISTAR TMS-9543 4.0 REQUIREMENTS 4.1 Surface Preparation Cabs shall be thoroughly washed to remove dust, dirt and soaps used in the windshield installa
8、tion. 4.1.1 All areas to be pinstriped shall be cleaned with a prep solvent. 4.1.2 A very slight abrasion with a Scotch-Brite (fine grit) pad is permitted in the distinct pattern to be pinstriped. This must be restricted to areas that will be covered by the pinstriping and shall not mar or detract f
9、rom the appearance of the paint finish. 4.1.3 All areas to be pinstriped shall be wiped with Acrylic Adhesion Promoter and allowed to set 30 minutes before applying the pinstriping. DECEMBER 2009 Page 2 of 3 4.2 Pinstriping Application Add Stickum to the One Shot Lettering Enamel, 6 drops per oz. paint. 4.2.1 Apply pinstriping. 4.2
11、2 Allow pinstriping to cure before moving finished unit outside and exposing to moisture and cold temperatures. 4.3 Performance Requirements The pinstriping shall be uniform in application and color. The pinstriping shall exhibit good adhesion to the topcoat paint and shall not be removed by typica
12、l high pressure truck wash wands or brushes or when exposed to moisture and freezing conditions. 5.0 QUALITY Parts shall be uniform in color and texture and match appearance of approved samples. 6.0 SOURCE APPROVAL AND QUALITY CONTROL 7.1 Supplier Requirements All suppliers to Navistar are required
13、to be registered to ISO 9001 Quality System Requirements. Navistar will also accept TS-16949 registration as long as the supplier can also fulfill all AIAG PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) documentation and approval requirements. Suppliers must maintain their certification with an accredited
14、registrar and must furnish copies of registration certificates to their Navistar Corporate Buyer upon request. 6.2 Approval Parts supplied against contracts or purchase orders citing this specification shall be equivalent in all respects to those samples which were approved by the purchaser. No chan
15、ges in formulation or processing practices are permitted without approval. In the event that changes in material, properties, processing practices, construction, color, or labeling of the product are required, the supplier shall notify Materials Engineering, Truck Development and Technology Center,
16、and Navistar Purchasing and Supplier Development of the proposed change(s). Test data indicating conformance to all requirements of this specification, test samples, and new or amended or updated Material Safety Data Sheet(s) (MSDS), in accordance with CFR Title 29, Part 1910 shall be submitted with
17、 the request for change. 6.3 Process Control The supplier shall either perform and/or report results of tests on specific lots of parts produced using ISO 9001 or TS-16949 guidelines, or provide statistical evidence of the lot having been produced in a state of statistical control and with a process
18、 capable of providing all required properties. The part supplier and the plant metallurgist and/or the quality control manager of the using Navistar plant may determine testing and reporting requirements on specific products. 7.0 SHIPPING, PACKING AND IDENTIFICATION (Not Applicable) 8.0 DESIGNATION
