2、lasses 1, 2, and 3, Styles A and B. 1. SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS 1.1 CIassification. The handkerchiefs shall be furnished in the following types, classes, and styles (see 4.2). Type 1 - Mens, 15-1/2 by 15-1/2 inches - 1/ Type II - Womens, 10 by 10 inches - 1/ Class 1 - White Class 2 Style A , - Cotton
3、 Style B - Brown 436 - 2/ - Cotton/Polyester - 3/ 1/ - 2/ Tolerance - + 1/4 inch. The Brown 436 handkerchief shall be procured only as Style A - Cotton. - - 3/ Beneficial comments (recommendations, additions, deletions) and any pertinent data which may be of use in improving this document should be

6、cription. 1.2.1 Material. The handkerchiefs shall be plain weave, constructed from 100% cotton or cotton/polyester blend with a minimum yarn count of 63 yarns per inch in the warp and 52 in the filling with a minimum weight of 1.80 ounces per square yard. The base fabric may have ornamental stripes
7、in the warp or filling direction. 1.2.1.1 Color and colorfastness. The color of the class 1 handkerchief shall be bleached white. The color of the class 2 handkerchief shall be Brown 436 and shall match the standard sample for shade and appearance. The class 2 handkerchief shall show fastness to lau
8、ndering (after 3 cycles) and perspiration equal to or better than the standard sample or equal to or better than a rating of “good“. The class 2 handerchief shall show fastness to crocking equal to or better than the standard sample or shall have an AATCC Chromatic Transference Scale rating of not l
9、ess than 3.5 (see 2.2.2). (NOTE: Reactive dyes have successfully provided these colorfastness characteristics.) The use of dyes and compounds containing elementary sulfur capable of oxidation to sulfuric acid is prohibited. 1.2.2 Thread. The thread for the class 1 handkerchief shall be cotton, spun
10、polyester or cotton/polyester. The thread for the class 2 handkerchief shall be cotton conforming to the requirements of V-T-276. 1.2.2.1 Color and colorfastness. The thread for the class 1 handkerchief shall be bleached white. The thread for the class 2 handkerchief shall be Khaki P-1, C.A. 66019 o
11、r equal. The dyed thread shall show colorfastness to laundering after 3 cycles equal to or better than the standard sample when tested as specified in V-T-276. 1.2.3 Hemming. All handkerchiefs shall be finished square. The hems of the handkerchief shall be made using seam type EFb-1, with either a 3
12、04 stitch modified to produce a single needle hemstitched hem or a plain 304 zig-zag stitched hem. There shall not be less than 10 stitches per inch. The hems shall finish 3/8 to 518 inches wide for type I, and 3/16 to 5/16 for type II. As an alternate, a rolled hem, 3/32 (min,) inch width may be us
13、ed. All edges shall be hemmed. 1.3 Workmanship. The handkerchiefs shall be uniform in quality and shall be free from irregularities or defects which adversely affect performance, reliability, or durability. 1.4 Product demonstration model. During the solicitation phase, interested firms shall provid
14、e the Procuring Agency with two product demonstration models of the item they propose to furnish for evaluation. The two samples provided by the successful offerer shall be tagged and sealed. One shall be retained by the Procuring Agency and the other furnished the assigned Quality Assurance Represe

When requested by the contracting officer, the contractor shall certify, and maintain substantiating evidence, that the product offered meets the salient characteristics of this Commercial Item Description, and that the product conforms to
17、the producers own drawings, specifications, standards, and quality assurance practices. The Government reserves the right to require proof of such conformance prior to first delivery and thereafter as may be otherwise provided for under the provisions of the contract. 2.2 2.2.1 Sampling. Testing sha
18、ll be performed for the characteristics specified in 2.2.2 and in accordance with the referenced test methods of FED-STD-191 and AATCC. Testing for the requirements listed in 2.2.2 is applicable to the sample unit. The lot size shall be expressed in units of yards and the sample unit shall be 1 yard
19、 fulgwidth of the cloth. The sample size (number of sample units) shall be as shown below: Component testing (class 2 only). 20、andkerchief (see 1.2.1.1) shall be tested in accordance with FED-STD-191 and AATCC with the following test methods. - Colorfastness to: Test Method Laundering (after 3 cycles) 5610 1/ 2/ 3/ Crocking AATCC-No; 8- Perspir t ion 5680 - 3/ - 1/ The specimens must be dried after each of the 3 laundering
21、cycles. - 2/ Only the stain on the cotton fibers of the transfer cloth shall be evaluated. - 3/ FED-STD-191 2.3 Examination of the end item. The handkerchiefs shall be inspected in accordance with MIL-STD-105. The defects found during the examination of the end item will be classified below. The ins

Four (4) handkerchiefs shall be packaged into a polyethylene bag. Seven hundred twenty (720) handkerchiefs preserved as specified, (180
26、bags of 4) of one type, class and style only, shall be packed in a fiberboard shipping container conforming to type CF, class domestic, variety DW, grade 275, size 2A of MIL-B-17757. The ;Liner shall be type CF, class domestic, in accordance with the requirements of MIL-B-17757. The box shall be clo
27、sed in accordance with the box specification. 3.2 Marking. In addition to any special marking required by the contract or order, unit packs, intermediate or exterior containers, and palletized unit loads shall marked in accordance with MIL-STD-129. 3.3 Palletization. When specified (see 4.2), item,
28、packed as specified in 3.1, shall be palletized on a 4-way entry pallet in accordance with load type Ia of MIL-STD-147. Each prepared load shall be bonded with primary and secondary straps in accordance with the bonding methods C and D or Film bonding F or G. Pallet patterns shall be in accordance w
29、ith the appendix of MIL-STD-147. The pallet shall be 4-way, type IV; type V, class 1, size 2; or type VIII, fabricated from wood groups I, II, III or IV, grade A of NN-P-71, or 4-way, style 1, size A, type I, class 1 fabricated from groups specified of MIL-P-15011. Interlocking of loads shall be eff
30、ected by reversing the pattern of each course.
