SCOPE. This commercial it
2、em description (CID) covers a two-wheeled, pneumatic tired, hand pushed concrete cart of not less than 6 cubic foot (cf) (O. 17 cubic metre (m) capacity. 2. CLASSIFICATION. Style and size as specified herein. 3. SALIENT CHARACTERTSTICS. 3.1 Description. The cart shall consist of a steel body, axle(s
3、), two pneumatic tired wheels, support legs, rockers, and a handle. The cart shall have a struck capacity of not less than 6 cf (O. 17 m). 3.2 Standard commercial product. The cart shall, as a minimum, be in accordance with the requirements of this CID and shall be the manufacturers standard commerc
4、ial product. Additional or better features which are not specifically prohibited by this CID but which are a part of the manufacturers standard commercial product, shall be included in the cart being furnished. A standard commercial product is a product which has been sold or is being currently offe
5、red for sale on the commercial market through advertisements or manufacturers catalogs, or brochures, and represents the latest production model. The cart shall be designed so that, when fully loaded, one man can easily maneuver the cart over uneven surfaces, such as commonly found at construction sites. Resting
8、on its support legs, the cart shall not dump its load, roll, turn, or move when lefi unattended. Two men, one pushing the other pulling, using a line or hook, shall be able to maneuver the cart up an incline of not less than 8 feet (fi) (2 438 millimetre (mm) in length and a slope of 4 to 1. The cen
9、ter of gravity is located in a position which shall allow one man to dump the entire contents with minimum effort. 3.4 Composition. 3.4.1 Dimensions. The overall width of the cart shall be not greater than 3 1 inches (787 mm). The grip part of the handle shall be 1 .O to 1.5 inches (25 to 38 mm) in
10、diameter. The handle shall be from 27 to 35 inches (686 to 889 mm) from level ground, measured to the top of the handle while the cart is resting on its support legs. 3.4.2 Body. The body shall be constructed of sheet steel components welded together, or of a single steel sheet formed to the require
11、d shape. Nominal thickness of the sheet steel shall be not less than 0.0747-inch (2 mm). The interior surface of the body shall be smooth and free of obstructions; rounded fasteners will be permitted on the side walls of the body for the purpose of attaching the cart legs, axle and handle assemblies
12、 as long as there are no restrictions to catch the edge of the shovel blade. To withstand the stresses imposed, and to prevent permanent deformation or damage to the cart, the body shall be reinforced wherever necessary, but particularly where the axle(s), support legs, handle, and rockers connect t
13、o the body and along the upper rim. A towing eye or bail shall be secured to the cart in a position which shall permit a second man, with a hook or line, to pull the cart up a steep incline. 3.4.3 Axle(s) and wheels. The cart shall be furnished with a drop type axle or two stub type axles. Wheels sh
14、all be the steel spoke or disk type, with recessed hubs. Wheel hubs shall be equipped with heavy duty, roller, or ball type bearings. 3.4.4 Tires. Tires shall be tube or tubeless type. If provided, tubes shall be heavy-duty type and of correct size to match the tires as recommended by the Tire and R
15、im Association Inc. (TU). Size of tires furnished shall be not less than 4 by 18, with a ply rating of not less than 4. Tires shall not extend above the upper rim of the body. 3.5 Identification marking. Identification shall be permanently and legibly marked directly on the cart or on a corrosion-re
16、sisting metal plate securely attached to the cart at the source of manufacture. Identification shall include the manufacturers model and serial number, name and trademark to bereadily identifiable to the manufacturer. 4. REGULATORY REQUIREMENTS. 4.1 Materials. The offerorkontractor is encouraged to
17、use recovered materials to the maximum extent practicable, in accordance with paragraph 23.403 of the Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR). The term “recovered materials” means materials which have
19、been collected or recovered fiom solid waste and reprocessed to become a source of raw materials as opposed to virgin raw materials. Unless otherwise specified, none of the above shall be interpreted to mean that the use of used or rebuilt products are allowed under this comercial item description.
20、4.2 Metric products. Products manufactured to metric dimensions will be considered on an equal basis with those manufactured using inch-pound units, provided they fall within specified tolerances using conversion tables contained in the latest version of ASTM E 380, and other requirements of this CI
21、D including form, fit, and Iunction are met. If a product is manufactured to metric dimensions and those dimensions exceed the tolerances specified in the inch-pound units, a request should be made to the contracting officer to determine ifthe product is acceptable. The contracting officer has the o
22、ption of accepting or rejecting the product. 5. QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS. 5.1 Product conformance. The product provided shall meet the salient characteristics of this CID, conform to the producers own drawings, specifications, standards, and quality assurance practices, and be the same product o
23、ffered for sale in the commercial market. The government reserves the right to require proof of such conformance. 6. PACKAGING. The preservation, packing, and marking shall be as specified in the contract or order. 7. NOTES. 7.1 Part Identification Number (PIN) . The following part identjcation numb
