SCOPE MIL-A-3339B 15 March i96

3、8 1.1 Scope. This specification covers the requirements for two types and three sizes of life raft sea anchors. 1.2 Classification. REQUIREMENTS 3.1 First article, When specified (see 6.2), the contractor shall furnish sample unit(s) for first article inspection and a

10、pproval (see 4.3.1 and 6.2). 3.2 Materials. The materials shall conform to the applicable specifications as listed or required herein. 3.2*1 body. The body of the type I and II sea anchors shall be fabricated from nylon cloth conforming to MIL-C-21108, type I, 3.2.2 Lines. 3.2.2.1 Mooring. 3.2,2,1.1

11、 Type I sea anchor. The mooring line for the type 1 sea anchor shall be nylon cord conforming to MIL-C-5040, type III. 3.2.2.1.2 Type II sea anchor, The mooring line for the type II sea anchor shall be nylon cord conforming to MIL-C-43307, 1/4 inch diameter. - . The ring for the type f sea anchor shall be fabricated from flexible corrosion-resistant steel cable conforming to MIL-TJ-83420, 3/32 inch diameter. 3.2.5 Sleeve. The sleeve for securing the ends of the meta

13、l ring for the type I sea anchor shall be fabricated from corrosion-resistant steel and shall conform to figure 3. 3.2.6 Grommets. The grommets for the type I sea anchor shall be brass with a black chemical finish conforming to MIL-G-16491, type I, class 3, size number O. 3.2.7 Reinforcing tape. The

14、 reinforcing tape for the type II sea anchor shall be nylon conforming to MIL-T-5038, type III, 314 inch wide. 3.2.8 Throat facing. The throat facing for the type II sea anchor shall be fabricated from the body cloth 3.2.1. 3.3 Design. 3.3.1 Type I sea anchor. The type I sea anchor shall be a trunca

15、ted cone with an enclosed flexible steel cable at the top, a bridle and a mooring line. sea anchor shall conform in appearance to figure 1. The type I 3.3.2 Type II sea anchor. All the stitch types shall conform to FED-STD-751 and shall contain 8 to 10 stitches per inch. the seam edges shall b

19、e properly forced out and shall not contain any folds. seam shall be twisted, puckered or pleated and no part of the sea anchor shall be caught in an unrelated operation or seam. The size and location of the bartacks, on the type II sea anchor, shall be as specified in figures 4 and 6. Each bartack shall contain a minimum of 21 stitches,

30、 edge, sliver, nick, crack, or burr. All loose thread, lint, and foreign matter shall be removed. The as- sembled sea anchors shall conform to the quality and grade of product established by this specification. criteria established herein. 31、 QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS 4.1 Responsibility for inspection. Unless otherwise specified in the contract, the contractor is responsible for the performance of all inspection requirements as specified herein. Except as otherwise specified in the contract, the contractor may use his own or any othe

The Government reserves

33、 the right to perform any of the inspections set forth in the specification where such inspections are deemed necessary to assure supplies and services conform to prescribed requirements. 4.2 Classification of inspection. The inspection requirements specified herein are classified as follows: a. Fir

34、st article inspection. First article inspection consists of ex- aminations and tests performed on samples which are representative of the production item after the award of a contract to determine that the production item meets the requirements of this specification (see 4.3). b. Quality conformance

35、 inspection, Quality conformance inspection consists of examinations and tests performed on individual products or lots to determine conformance of the products or lots with the requirements set forth in this specifi- cation (see 4.4). 4.3 First article inspection. 4.3.1 First article samples. Unles

36、s otherwise specified, as soon as practicable after award of the contract or order, the manufacturer shall submit three sea anchors of the type specified in the contract or order. The samples shall be repre- sentative of the workmanship, construction, components and materials to be used during produ

37、ction. anchors from contract to contract, submission of further first article inspection samples on the new contract, may be waived at the discretion of the acquiring activity (see 6.2e). Approval of the first article inspection samples or the waiving of the first article inspection does not exclude

38、.the requirements or per- forming the quality conformance inspection. The first article inspection samples shall be furnished to the Government as directed by the contracting officer (see 6.2f) The samples shall be plainly identified by securely attached durable tags marked with the following inform

39、ation: When a manufacturer is in continuous production of these sea Samples submitted by (name) (date) for first article inspection in accordance with the requirements of MIL-A-333% under Contract No. 4.3.2 First article examinations and tests. The first article inspection of the sea anchors shall c

40、onsist of all the tests and examinations of this specifi- cat ion. 4.3.3 First article approval. Upon completion of the first article inspection program, recommendations and comments pertinent for use in monitoring production will be forwarded by the Government activity responsible for the inspectio

41、n program (see 6.2f). One approved sea anchor will be returned to the manufacturer for use in monitoring production. The other sea anchors will be consumed or destroyed in the first article inspection and shall not be considered as part of the quantity to be delivered under contract. 4.4 Quality con

42、formance inspection. 44、 and laundering 4.4.1 Sampling. 4.4.1.1 Inspection lor. 4.4.1.1.1 Components (cloth, lines, sewing thread and reinforcing tape). An inspection lot size shall be expressed in units of one for the individual components (cloth, lines, sewing thread and reinforcing tape) designated in the terms used com

45、mercially and shall consist of all of an individual item received by the life raft see anchor manufacturer at one time. The sample unit shall be one unit of each of the individual components (cloth, lines, sewing thread and reinforcing tape) designated in the terms used commercially. 4.4.1.1.2 Rings

An inspection lot size shall be expressed in units of one assembled ring for one size sea anchor made essentially under the same conditions and from the same components and shall consist of all the rings received by the sea anchor manufacturer at one time. anchor. 49、pe and size, fully prepared for delivery with the exception that it need not be sealed. 4.4.1.2 Sampling for tests and examinations of the components and sea anchors. The sample size, acceptance criteria, tests and examinations required for the components and sea anchors shall be as specified in table I. 4.5 Inspection methods. 4.5.1 Color matching, The color of the cloth, lines, sewing thread and rein- forcing tape, as applicable, shall approximately match the approved shade un
