2、 is available for use by all Departments and Agencies of the Department of .Defense. I. SCOPE 1.1 Scope. This specification covers the Acoustic Locating Device, Dwg 2158843 and Dwg 3277485. 2. APPLICABLE DOCUMENTS. 2.3 Government documents. 2.1.1 Specifications, standards, and handbooks. Unless othe

3、rwise specified, the following specifications and standards of the issue listed in that issue of the Department of Defense Index of Specifications and Standasds (DoDISS) specified in the solicitation form a part of this specification to the extent specified herein. In the event of a conflict between the text of this specification and the references cited herein, the text of this specification shall take precedence. 3 REQUIREMENTS 3.1 First article. inspection (sea. and 6.). When specified, a sample shall be subjected to first article - 3.2 Basic requirement

13、_. 3.2.1 Materials and treatments of materials and parts. Unless otherwise specif- ied in th contract, all materials and treatments of materials and parts used in the manufacture of the Acoustic Locating Device shall be in accordance with the require- ments specified herein and with the applicable d

14、ocuments listed on Drawing 2158843 or 3277485. 3.2.1.1 Selection of materials. Specifications and standards for all materials, parts, and Government certification and approval of processes md equipment, which are not specifically designated herein and which are necessary for the execution of this sp

15、ecification, shall be selected in accordance with MIL-STD-143, except as provided herein. AN, JAN, or MS Standard parts shall be identified on the drawing by their part numbers. cotter pins may be used, provided they possess suitable properities and are replaceable by the AN, JAN, or MS Standard par

16、ts without alteration, and provided the corresponding AN, JAN, or MS Standard part numbers are referenced on the parts list, and if practicable, on the contractors drawings. In the event there is no suitable corresponding standards part in effect on date of invitation for bids, commercial parts may

17、be used provided they conform to the requirements specified herein. All electronic components purchased for use in the acoustic locating device, Drawing 3277485, shxll meet the requirements of JANTX Discrete Semiconductors and MIL-Sn-883 Level B requirements for integrated circuits. Commercialuility

18、 parts such as screws, bolts, nuts, and 3.2.1.2 Fungus proof material. Materials that are nutrients for fungi shall not be used unless necessary. be treated with a fungicidal agent acceptable to the procuring activity. Unless otherwise specified by the procuring activity, any change in design (which in the opinion of the procuring activity affects performance or reliability of the Acoustic Locating Device) made after completion of first article tests, shall require that a new first

22、article sample (see 4.3.1) manufac- tured in accordance with the design change by submitted for testing. 3.2.4 Gages. The supplier shall provide whatever gages are necessary and adequate to assure that the material and parts of the Acoustic Locating Device will meet dimensions and requirements shown

23、 on the applicable documents. When requested by the supplier, the procuring activity will furnish pertinent drawings of existing Naval final inspection gages for use only in the designing of the suppliers gages. for designing and manufacturing the gages needed for the satisfactory fulfillment of the

24、 contract requirements. r This action does not relieve the supplier of the responsibilitj. 3.2.5 Inspections and test equipment and facilities. The supplier shall furnish and maintain all necessary inspection and test equipment and facilities and shall provide personnel for perfodg all acceptance te

25、sts specified herein. equipment shall be adequate to permit performance of the required acceptance tests for Acoustic Locating Device. The test 3.3 Performance requirements and physical characteristics. 3.3.1 Activiation of signal. The Acoustic Locating Device shall remain in a static, ready conditi

26、on (no output) until the unit is electrically activitated by one of two mans: (a) Completion of an external circuit from electrical connector (see FIGURE I). resistance between pins D and E. The flooding of salt water (3.1 percent minimum salinity across exposed pins E4 and E5 (see FIGURE 1 ). Elect

27、rical completion shall consist of one ohm maximum . (b) 3.3.2 Output signal. When tested in accordance with 4.5.2.6 and 4.7.1.2, the output signal shall be a pulsed output of 30 25 msec duration at a repetition rate of 60 +6 per minute at a frequency of 9.000 20.270 H5. 3.3.3 Output level. When test

28、ed in accordance with 4.5.2.6 and mounted in the Mk 85 Mod 1 Exercise Head, the acoustic output pressure level of the Acoustic Locating Device shall be 149 (dB) minimum referred to one micropascal at one meter. output level shall be achieved over a 40 degree arc in the transverse plane of the exerci

29、se head. See FIGURE 2 for the transverse plane location and arc description. This 3.3.4 Power supply. The power supply for the Acoustic Locating Device, Drawing The 21 58843, shall be a self-contained replaceable battery (Drawing 1579452). power supply for the Acoustic Locating Device, Drawing 32774

The Acoustic Locating Device shall be capable of operating in accordance with all requirements when positioned in any attitude. 3.3.6 Conf

32、iguration. The envelope dimensions, part identification, mounting, and other external dimensions shall be in accordance with the applicable drawings (21 58843 or 3277485). 1 10. o - 3.3.7 Weipht. The weight of the Acoustic Locating Device shall not exceed 3.5 pounds. 74 - 500 i 3.4 Environmental req

Unless otherwise specified, the Acoustic Locating Device shall be capable of conforming 50 the performance requirements and physical characteristics of this specification after being exposed to the environments specified in this section. The Acoustic Locating Device shall be capable of conforming to the requireanents of this specification after being at any temperature between -45 and 140 degrees F in the nonoperating condition (see 6.3.2.

36、1) and while at any temperature between 40 and 140 degrees F in the ready nonoperating (see 6.3.2.2) and ready (see 6.3.2.3) conditions. when submerged in water at any pressure up to I000 psig. 3.4.5 Leakage. The fully assembled Acoustic Locating Device shall not leak 3.5 Life. 3.5. I Operational se

37、rvice life. The output signal shall not decay more than six db after five days of continuous, unattended operation when the Acoustic Locating Device is submerged in sea water (3.1 percent minimum salintiy) at a pressure of 1000 psig. 3.6 Identification. The Acoustic Locating Device shall be permanen

38、tly identif- ied in accordance with MIL-STD-I30 and the applicable documents listed on Drawing 21 58843 or 3277485. 3.7 Workmanship. The workmanship and finish shall be of sufficiently high grade to assure satisfactory operation consistent with the requirements of this specification. All parts used

39、in the assembly shall be thoroughly clean and free of excess materials, chips, and loose or splattered foreign materials. The stand- ards of workmanship exhibited in any approved preproduction sample subject to any qualifications stated in the Governments notice of approval, shall be determin- ative

40、 of the requirements of the contract relative to workmanship insofar as not specifically covered by applicable specifications. 4. QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISION 4.1 Responsibility for inspection. Unless otherwise specified in the contract. the contractor is responsible for the performance of all inspec

41、tion requirements as specified herein. Except as otherwise specified, the contractor may utilize his own facilities or any commercial laboratory acceptable to the Government. The . Government reserves the right to perform any of the inspections set forth in the specification where such inspections a

42、re deemed necessary to assure supplies and services conform to prescribed requirements. 4.2 Classification of inspection. Inspection of the Acoustic Locating Device shall be classified as follows: (a) First article inspection (I) (2) First article sample (see 4.3.1) First article tests (see 4.5) (b)

44、 (4.3.3) (2) Acceptance tests and examinations (see 4.7.1) 4.3 Sampling. 4.3.1 First article sample. A first article sample of two Acoustic Locating Acceptance of the first article Devices, shall be subjected to the first article tests detailed in 4.5 at an activity designated by the procuring activ

45、ity. sample shall be based on no defects in the sample. Acoustic Locating Device by the supplier, prior to approval of the first article sample, shall be at the suppliers risk. Further production of the 4.3.2 Periodic production sampling. Periodic production tests detailed in 4.6 shall be performed

46、at an activity designated by the procuring activity. shall consist of units that have satisfactorily passed the acceptance tests and examinations detailed in 4.7 and selected as follows: Samples Step I. Upon initiation of production, randomly select I unit from each group of 10 units. samples select

47、ed from three consecutive groups, proceed to step 2. Upon satisfactory compliance of Step 2. Upon satisfactory compliance of samples selected from three consecutive groups, proceed to step 3. Step 3. Randomly select I unit from each group of 50 units. Continue with step 3 for the balance of the cont

48、ract or until a defective unit is found. Randomly select 1 unit from each group of 25 units. Defective units. When a defective unit is found in any group the shall : Determine the cause of the defect. Determine if the defect is an isolated case. Take the necessary action to eliminate the defect from

49、 units on hand and, if so directed by the procuring activity, from those units previously shipped. Submit to the procuring activity, for approval, the proposed corrective action to prevent recurrence of the defect. Return to step I (4.3.2.(a) and proceed as indicated for inspection of units subsequently produced. 4.3.3 Acceptance sampling. The tests and examinations detailed in 4.7.1 shall be conducted on each Acoustic Locating Device to be del
