SCOPE Agencies of the Department of Defense. 1.1 Scope. This

REQUIREMENTS a 3 Provided by IH

17、SNot for ResaleNo reproduction or networking permitted without license from IHS-,-,-3.1 Standard Sample. Samples are furnished solely for guidance and information to the supplier (see 6.3). Variation from this specification may appear in the standard sample, in which case the specification shall gov

18、ern. 3.2 First article. Unless otherwise specified (see 6.2), before production is commenced, finished belts shall be submitted, or made available to the contracting officer or his authorized representative for approval. The approval of the first article authorizes the commencement of production but

19、 does not relieve the contractor of responsibility for compliance with all applicable provisions of the specification. The first article shall be manufactured by the contractor in the same facilities to be used for the manufacture of the production items. 3.3 Materials. 3.3.1 Webbins. The webbing sh

20、all be cotton, bleached, type IV, class 2, 3.4 ounces per linear yard, 2-1/4 inches wide conforming to MIL-W-530. 3.3.2 TaRe. The tape for binding the ends of the belt shall be cotton, bleached, 7/8 inch wide conforming to type I, class 2 of MIL-T-43566. 3.3.3 Thread, polvester. The thread for seami

21、ng and stitching the binding shall conform to type II, ticket No. 16, 4 ply of A- A-50199. The thread shall be white shade AG, cable NO. 66049. 3.3.4 Hardware. The hardware components for all classes shall conform to MIL-H-21155 which includes the class 1 Marine Corps insignia buckle. The class 3 be

22、lt fastener shall be brass conforming to type I, style 2, construction A of MIL-F-411, except that the fastener shall be alloy A3 brass of QQ-C-390 and polished to a mirror like finish. 3.4 Desicm. The belts shall be the U. S. Marine Corps design shown in Figure 1, consisting of a 50-inch length of

23、heavy webbing bound on each end with lightweight tape, one female snap fastener (cap and socket) for attaching an ammunition magazine carrier to the belt, and four male and female snap fasteners (cap, socket, stud, and post) for securing the bound ends to the belt. The class 1 belt shall have a buck

24、le (with detachable Marine Corps insignia and two belt fasteners for the ends of the belt), two metal keepers and one metal slide assembled thereon as shown in Figure 1. The class 3 belt shall contain the same hardware as the class 1 belt except the buckle will be replaced by a polished brass hook s

The construction of the belts shall conform 3.5.1 Stitches, seams and stitchinus. The stitch, seam and to Figure

26、1 and the following. stitching types specified herein shall conform to FED-STD-751. Stitch type 301 and seam type BSA-1 shall be used to bind the ends of the belt. Seam and stitching shall be done with 7 to 8 stitches per inch. 3.5.1.1 Tackinu and backstitchins. Thread breaks in stitching shall be b

27、ackstitched not less than 1 inch at each break. Thread tension shall be maintained properly so that there will be no loose stitching and that the lock will be imbedded in the center of the materials sewed. Ends of seam and stitching shall be securely backtacked. 3.5.2 Bindinu ends of belts. Turn end

28、s of binding to inside of belt. Stitch ends of binding to belt as shown in Figure 1. The folded width of the binding shall be equal on both sides of the finished belt. The binding shall be turned smoothly and tightly over the top and bottom edges of the belt and the raw ends of the binding shall mee

29、t at the center of the belt. Binding shall then be stitched as shown in Figure 1, 3.5.3 Settinu of snap fasteners. The holes for the male part of the fasteners shall be formed when the fasteners are driven into the material. When a hole is punched before inserting the female snap fastener, it shall

30、be smaller than the outside diameter of the fastener tube so that the tube must be forced through the hole. All fasteners shall be securely clinched. 3.5.4 Assemblv of class 1 and class 3 belts. The hardware components specified for class 1 and class 3 belts in 3.3.4 shall be assembled thereon as sh

33、9Ob OYb7238 5 I 7 3.8 Workmanship. The finished belt shall conform to the quality of product established by this specification. 4. QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS 4.1 Responsibility for inspection. Unless otherwise specified in the contract or purchase order, the contractor is responsible for the perfo

34、rmance of all inspection requirements (examinations and tests) as specified herein. Except as otherwise specified in the contract or purchase order, the contractor may use his own or any other facilities suitable for the performance of the inspection requirements specified herein, unless disapproved

35、 by the government. The government reserves the right to perform any of the inspections set forth in the specification where such inspections are deemed necessary to assure supplies and services conform to prescribed requirements. 4.1.1 Responsibility for compliance. All items must meet all requirem

36、ents of sections 3 and 5. The inspection set forth in this specification shall become a part of the contractors overall inspectipn system or quality program. The absence of any inspection requirements in the specification shall not relieve the contractor of the responsibility of assuring that all pr

37、oducts or supplies submitted to the Government for acceptance comply with all requirements of the contract. inspection, as part of manufacturing operations, is an acceptable practice to ascertain conformance to requirements, however, this does not authorize submission of known defective material, ei

38、ther indicated or actual, nor does it commit the Government to acceptance of defective material. Sampling 4.1.2 Certificate of compliance. Where certificates of compliance are permitted, the Government reserves the right to check test such items to determine the validity of the certification. 4.1.3

39、Classification of inspection. The inspection requirements specified herein are classified as follows: a. First article inspection (see 4.4) b. Quality conformance inspection (see 4.5) 4.3 Inspection conditions. Unless otherwise specified all isnpections shall be in accordance with the test condition

41、.1 and 4.5.3,2. The presence of any defect or failure to pass any test shall be cause for rejection of the first article. The number of units to be inspected shall be specified by the contracting officer (see 6.2). 4.5 Qualitv conformance inspection. 4.5.1 Component and material inspection. In accor

42、dance with 4.1 above, components and material shall be tested in accordance with all requirements of referenced specifications, figures and standards unless otherwise excluded, amended, modified or qualified in this specification or applicable purchase document. 4.5.2 In-process inspection. Inspecti

43、on shall be performed during the manufacturing of the end item for the following defects. The sample unit shall be one unassembled belt. The inspection level shall be S-3 (see 6.5).
