C, Orders for the above publication- should cite the latest edition and supplements thereto), 3 0 REQUIREMENTS 3.1 General. - 3.1.1 Mk 22 Mod O Dumper Valve Cartridge covered by this specification shall be manufactured in accordance with LD 491827 and all documents listed thereon, 3.1

11、ive BUORD drawings unless specific approval in writing covering a departure therefrom has been obtained from the Bureau of Naval Weapons prior to manufacture. When alternate materials or methods of manufacture are specified on the drawings, the biddervs selections shall be clearly stated in the prop

14、). - Composite propellant shall be handled in the same manner as Smokeless Powder, It shall-not be subjected, to unnecessary handling or exposure to the atmosphere. Inspect for signs of decomposition as outlined in paragraphs 1308-1318 and 1322 of OP-5, The inspector should familiarize himself with

15、Chapter 18 of OP-5 “Ammunition Ashore“ and conduct tests to determine that the smokeless powder to be used in cartridges does not differ appreciably from the condition as received. 3.5 Cartridge inspection. - The complete cartridge shall be free of the visible defects noted in 4.4.4. 3.5.1 Electrica

16、l resistance. - The resistance in all completely assembled cartridges manufactured under contract, when measured electrically using the probe and the body as terminals as specified in 4.4.5., shall be not less than 0.08 ohm or more than 0.14 ohm. 3.6 Coordination. - Completely assembled cartridges f

17、abricated in strict agreement with applicable draw- ings shall assemble with mating components or the firing mechanism without selection or fitting, 3.7 Functioning. - Cartridges from each lot, selected in accordance with 4.4.6.1 shall function properly when subjected to the test prescribed in l+.4.

18、6.1. 3.7.1 Misfire. - There shall be no misfires, see 4.4.6.2. 3.7.2 Hangfire. - There shall be no hangfires, see 4.4.6.3. 3.8 Ballistic requirements. - Cartridges from each production lot, selected in accordance with 4.4.7.1, shall meet the requirements listed below when sub- jected to the test pre

20、ecified in 4.4.7.3. 3.9 Workmanship. - Cartridges shall be constructed and finished in a manner to assure compliance with all requiremeats of this specification. finishes and coatings. Particular attention should be directed to dimensions, 4. QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS 4.1 Sampling. - Wess otherwi

21、se specified, and when applicable, the sampling plans and procedures used by the government inspector in the determination of the acceptability of products submitted by a supplier for government iaspection shaU be in accordance with the provlsions of KtbsTD-44, or MILrSTD-105, whichever applies. 22、ess otherwise specified ia the contract, order or requisition, aJ3- saples for test purposes ahaL1 be provided at the expense of the contractor . 4.2 - hts. - 4.2.1 Iaspection lots. - As applied to government inspection of units of product, the term “lot“ shall mean “inspection lot“, i.e., a collect

23、ion of units of product used as a basis for government inspection. Unless otherwise specified, the number of units of product in “inspection lots“ shall be as determined by the government inspector aad may differ from the quantity designated in the contract or order a# a lot for production, shipnent

24、 or other purpose, 4.2.2 Pilot production lab* = Before entering into wtity pro- duction, a pilot production lot of 200 castridges shall be delivered by the contractor to the 6 Provided by IHSNot for ResaleNo reproduction or networking permitted without license from IHS-,-,-procuring activity, or to

25、 the activity designated by the procuring activity, for test. These cartridges shall be manufactured by the same procedures and at the same location proposed by the contractor for the execution of the contract. When a pilot production lot is received which complies with all test and sampling require

26、ments of this document and the applicable drawings, the contractor will be notified and authorized to proceed with production. When production under a new contract immediately follows the manufacture of satisfactory material, a pilot production lot will not be required. 4.2.3 Production lot. - The s

27、uggested production lot shall consist of one thousand cartridges plus cartridges required for all test purposes. Samples selected to determine acceptability of the requirements of Section 3.7 will be used by the Government Inspector in lot accept- ance tests conducted at the contractors activity and

28、 samples selected to determine conformance with Section 3.9 shall be delivered to any location designated by the procuring activity for test. for in the contract all cartridges for test purposes shall be provided at the expense of the contractor. Cartridges of a lot shall be of consecutive manufactu

29、re. The production lot shall be used for delivery and identification of cartridges and is not necessarily related to the inspection lot defined in 4.2.1. Unless otherwise provided 4.3 Inspection. - 4.3.1 Contractorts inspection, - Unless otherwise required by the procuring activity, the contractor i

30、s responsible for the performance of all tests and examinations to assure that the Mk 22 Mod O, Dumper Valve Cartridge delivered to the Government are in full accordance with all applicable requirements. In addition the contractor is required to maulbin records of all tests and examinations performe

31、d and to make these records available to the Government representative upon request . 7 Provided by IHSNot for ResaleNo reproduction or networking permitted without license from IHS-,-,-MIL-C-22625 (Wep) 4.3.1.1 Gages. - The contractor shall provide himself with whatever gages are necessary and adeq

32、uate to insure that the material to which this specification applies will meet the dimensional requirements shown on the applicable drawings. If so stipulated in the contract, order or requisition, the Bureau of Naval Weapons or the procuring activity WS11 furnish drawings of pertinent Navy Final In

33、spection Gages for guidance in the design of the contractors inspection gages. However, such, pro- cedure shall not serve to relieve the contractor of his responsibility in the design and manufacture of such gages as may be required for the satisfactory fulfillment of the contract requirements, but

34、is intended to facilitate acceptance of all components and assemblies by Navy Final Inspection Gages, 4.3.2 Government inspection, - The Government Inspector shall, during the process of manufacture, assembly and loading, make such inspection and tests as necessary to insure that components, assembl

35、ies and all cartfidges manufactured are in accordance with the terms of the contract, the order or requisition and the applicable drawings and specifications. Unless otherwise designated herein, inspection and disposition of material shall be governed by Bureau of Ordnance OP 400, General Instructio

36、ns for the Design, Manufacture and Inspection of Naval Ordnance Equipment. 4.3.3 Production and acceptance inspection. - Produc- tion and acceptance inspection shall consist of the following: It em - Ignition Element Ignition Element Propellant Charge Black Powder Composite Propellant (Arcit e 208X)

39、ation. 4.4 Tests. - 4.4.1 Ignition element lot acceptance tests. - Eaoh lot of ignition elements shall be accepted in accordance with the provisions set forth in NAVORD- OS-7859. 4.4.2 X-ray. - Ignftion elements should be mounted in suitable grooved racks. exposure the elements are laid on their sid

The presence of moisture in excess of the limitations of 3.4.2 shall cause suspension of loading until corrective measures have been taken. Samples may be 4.4.3.1 Determinihg moisture content. - Enclose a sample in a ta

43、red container. Weigh and expose for drying at.495OO ? 5C for 1-1/2 hours. Close the container, ooo and weigh. The loss of weight is calculated as the percentage of moisture in the original sample. As an alternate method, allow the sample to dry to constant weight in an adequate dessi- cator at room

44、temperature. 4.4.4 Visual inspection. - Examine all cartridges manufactured and reject for: dents, deep sbratches, split or cracked lip in the crimped area, damaged or ben$ probe, cracked insulation, perforated closure discs, sharp edges, burrs, incomplete threads, and other defects which may concei

45、vably prevent entry into the firing mechanism or affect stability or resistance to moisture. with the circuit resistance of 3.5.1 shall be ascer- tained by means of a test circuit which limits the current to 50 milliamperes, maximum. A safety chamber with an interlock switch shall be used to protect

46、 the operator during the application of the current. A suitable bridge which is known to be accurate within 0.01 ohm in the range of resistance specified shall be used to determine whecher or not the requirement is being met. Unlts which conform to the requirements of 3.5.1 shall be acceptable. One

48、 from each lot for the functional test shall be in accordance with the requirements of Table III, Inspection Level II of MIL-STD-105 at an AQL of 0.04. The cartridges shall be conditioned at +?O -f 5-F for 24 hours and fired in a test fixture equivalent to that desc-pibed in BUORD LD 419699. The ven

49、t plug, made from an aircraft cadmium plated bolt drilled out to 3/8 inch diameter, shall be replaced after each firing when chamber pressure is being measured.
