Welding and allied processes , including inspection,repairs, and mscerials shall be in accordance with MIL-STD-278.3.5.18 praz. Brazing and inspection shall be in accordance with NAVSEA0900

19、 -LP-O01-7000.3.6 Performance.3.6.1 *f ierant vressure and leakaee. The drinking water cooler shallwithstand the rfrigerant pressure and leakage test (see 4.3. 1), refrigerantvacuum test (see 6.2) , gas leakage test (see 4.3.3), and hydrostatic test (see4.3.4) with no evidence of leakage.3.6.2 Envir

20、onment.ql performance. The drinking water cooler shall operateand perform lcs function without deleterious effects on reliability and wear ratewhen instailed and operated on board Navy ships under shipboard environmentalconditions, which may prevail simultaneously and occur in any combination. Under

21、these conditions, the water cooler shall operate satisfactorily, maintain adequatelubrication, avoid loss of oil or other fluids, and drain without spillage. Thecooler will be constantly exposed to marine environment, that is, extremes of andconstantly changing ambient temperatures, high humidity in

22、 a salt laden atmos-phere, and high incidence of conditions for electrolytic action of dissimilarmetals. Coolers shall be highly resiscanc to the effects of this environment andto the shipboard conditions of vibration, roll, pitch, and shnck.3.6 .2.1 Shock resistance. Each drinking water cooler and

23、its componentsshall pass che high impact shock tests in accordance with MIL-S-901 for grada B,dsck mounted, class II, type A equipment (see 4.3,5) .3.6.2.2 Vibration. l%e drinking water cooler shall meet the type Ivibration requirements in ,accordance with 141L-sTD-167-1 (see 4.3 .6).3.6.2.3 Combina

24、tion of list. trim. roll. and pitch. Water coolers shallperform under list, trim, roll, and pitch conditions in accordance withDOD- STD-1399, section 301. l%e water cooler shall show no signs of spillage ordripping of condensate when tilted 30 degrees in any direction. The inclinationand rolling sha

25、ll be considered to occur in any direction.3.6.2.3.1 Basin drain. 26、.6.3 Cauacitv rating. The water coolers capacity rating shall be based on a71the following conditions (see b.3,8):Capacity (water flow) . . . 7-1/2 gallons per hour.Ambient temperature 90”F.Water in . 80”F.Water out 50-F.3.6.4 peak draw caDacitY. The outlet temperature shall be not greater than60.F

27、during a 15-minute period while drawing 2.75 gallons of water from thecooler. Uute With a water supply line pressure range of 20 to 70 lb/lnigauge, the water regulator device shall not permit the flow rate through thebubbler to deviate by more than 20 percent from the flow rate at supply linepressur

28、e of 35 to 40 lb/ln2 gauge (see 4.3.14).3.6.9 Condensation. There shall be no visible evidence of moisture formingon the exterior of the cabinet or dripping of condensate from the piping when thewater cooler is tested as specified (see 4.3.15)3.6.10 Insulation resistance. The insulation resistance o

29、f the electricalcircuit shall be 5 megohms or greater (see 4.3.16) .3.6.11 Dielectric strength. The equipment shall withstand for 1 minute adielectric ac root mean square (rms) test voltage of 1230 volts (see 4.3. 17)3.6.12 Ooeracine tests The unit shall be leak free and require not greaterthan 7 pe

30、rcent a75ore power than the nominal Dower lnuut of all acceptable unitswhen teted as specified (see 4.3.18) 3.6.13 Water svstem cleaning. Refrigerant system shall be cleaned asfollows :(a) Clean refrigerant circuic internally after leak testing. Fill withCrichlorotri fluoroeth

32、ane solvent in accordance with MIL-C-81302,type II. Circulate solvent through the refrigerant piping systemby a75eans of an external pump. The pump shall circulate thesolvent at a velocity of not leas than 20 feet per second (6.1meters per second) through 3/8-inch (9.5-minims. ter) outsidadiameter l

33、iquid lines.(b) Remove internals of refrigerant control valves prior to filling thesystem with solvent. Open manual operating st shall start when the incial storage tankof water has been cooled and che compressor has shut off. Water shall bs drawn atthe rate of 7-1/2 gallons per hour. Uhera a pre-co

34、oler is installed, 60 percentof the water drawn may be used as spillage through the pre-cooler. The followingshall be checked at 20-minute incewals during the test period:(a) Ambient temperature.(b) Inlet water r.emperature.(c) Outlet water temperature.(d) Water flow.(e) Voltage at cooler terminals.

35、(f) Water cooler amperage draw.4.3.9 Feak draw test. The peak draw test shall be conducted as specifiedfor the rated capacicy test except as follows:(a) Operate the cooler to stabilize taoperaures. Outlet wltertemperature shall be 50 2“F.(b) The test shall start when the condensing unit cuts out on

36、one ofits normal cycles.(c) The test shall be conducted for 15 minutes with 2.75 gallons ofwater drawn at a steady rate during this period.(d) Test readings shall be taken after 5 minutes of the start of thetest and just prior to the end of the 15-minute test period (see3.6.4). I4.3.10 aximum ouerat

Thi test shall be conducted asspecified for the rated capacity test except as follows:(a) Operate the cooler co stabilize to the specified ambient and inletwater temperatures (see 3.6.5)(b) Draw water at the rated flow. The water shall be discarded, butnot through the drain. 1(c)

38、 At the conclusion of a l-hour period the electric power to thecooler shall be shut off for 2 a75inutes and again turned on fornot less than 5 minures. his shall be repeated tvo times. waterdraw and test temperatures shall be taken during the l-houroperating period (see 3.6.5). Repeat this procedure

39、 for each ofthe 2 additional 7-minute periods4.3.11 Overload test. This test shallbe conducted as specified for therated capacity test except as follows:(a) The ambient temperature shall be 120”F.(b) The inlet water temperature shall be 90”F.(c) The water shall be drawn and discarded, not through th

No parts shall be fractured, split, torn, dented, or otherwisedamaged so as to affect ser

42、viceability.Cold lines shall be properly insulated (see 3.5.6) .The limiting and a75ounting dimensions shall be as specified (see3.5.1 and 3.5.3).Electrical wiring shall be properly installed and connected (see3.6.10 and 3.6.11).There shall be no sharp or ragged edges on the sheeting that may beinju

43、rious to personnel.Drinki,ng water cooler shall be drained.Fittings for the external connections shall be properly secured tothe frame (see 3.5.6).Refrigerant system shall be free of refrigerant leakage.Controls or switches shall be properly set and in operating order.6.6 Jnsr.eccion of mackaing. 44、ckages and packs, and the inspection of thepreservation, packing, and marking for shipment and storage shall be in accordancewith che requirements of section 5 and the documents specified therein.5. PACKAGING(The packaging requirements specified herein apply only for direct Governmentacquisition. Fo

In addition, for Navy acquisitions, the following applies:(a) IJaw shi.boar d Stowaee fire-retardant reauiremencs.(1) Lumber and plwood. When specified (see 6.2), all lumber andplywood including laminated veneer material used in shipp
