18、UIREMENTS 3.1 Firs t article. When specified in the contract or order, a sample shall be subjected to first article inspection (see 4.3 and 6.3). 3.2 Material. The insulation cement shall be composed of a dry mixture of heat-resistant material of rock or mineral fiber and clay binder, thoroughly mix
19、ed to obtain uniform distribution of the ingredients. shall not contain asbestos, ceramic (refractory) fibers, or free silica. When specified in the contract or order, a certificate of compliance shall be prepared (see 6.2.2). mixed with fresh water, it can be applied with a trowel or by hand (see 4

The inspection set forth in this specification shall become a part of the contractors overall inspection system or quality program. absence of any inspection requirements in the specification shall not
31、 relieve the contractor of the responsibility of assuring that all products or supplies submitted to the Government for acceptance comply with all requirements of the contract. Sampling in quality conformance does not authorize submission of known defective material, either indicated or actual, nor
32、does it commit the Government to acceptance of defective material. The 4.2 Classification of insDections. The inspection requirements specified herein are classified as follows: (a) First article inspection (see 4.3). (b) Quality conformance inspection (see 4.4). 4.2.1 InsDection conditions. Unless

Molded specimens shall be air dried for 24 hours, and then dried at 300F in an electric oven to constant weight. computed on the oven-dried volume. Then the density
