SCOPE 1.1 Scope. - This specification covers electric desiccant dehumidifiers for we on inactive Kavzl ships. 1.2 Classification. - Dehumidifiers shall be o

12、IREMENTS 3,l Preproduction model. - After the award of a contract or order and prior to the production or“ any units for fir.al acceptance, the contractor shall furnish a preproduction model for testing of itC performance in accordance with 4.2. Approval of the preproduction model by the bureau or a

13、gency concerned shall not relieve the contractor of his obligation to supply equipment conforming to this specification. No changes or deviations from the preprodliction model will be acceptable without prior written approval from the contracting officer. When the contractor has furnished units of a

14、n identical design under previous con- tracts with the bureau or agency concerned, the preproduction model is not required .- . . 3.2 Material. - Materials not required to conform to a particular specification shall be of the highest . _. - . . - . _-_._._._ .- . . _.-_ . - . .-._-.- _-_ _ _-. _. _.

The arrangement of the bed shall insure that no bypassing of nor channeling through th

16、e desiccant shall occur upon settling of the desiccant to 90 percent of its original volume. 3.6 Air passages and connections. - 3.6.1 All air passages shall be castings r welded or brazed steel fabrications which shall be hot dip galvanized after fabrication. Bolted flanges With gaskets shall be us

17、ed where joints or connections are made. The dehumidifiers shall be sealed at the air connections on completion of the shop tests (see 4.5). Soft solder, gunning materials and similar expedients to achieve. tightneeswill not be acceptable. 3.6.2 The location of the fan(s) in the air stream(s) shall

18、be such that no heated air passes through . thefan. . 3.7 Filters. - Filters shall be provided to filter both the reactivation air and the adsorption air before entering the desiccant. They shall be readily accessible for cleaning and replacement. Filters shall be of a type approved by the bureau or

19、 agency concerned. 3.8 Insulation. - The dehumidifiers shall be so constructed and insulated that heat losses and conden- sation shall be kept to a minimum. Insulation shall conform to clase a ai !3pecification MILI-2839. . 3.9 Painting. - 3.9.1 Exterior metal surfaces of the dehumidifier shall be t

20、horoughly cleaned, given one coat of metal conditioner in accordance with Specification MIL-C-15328, followed by one coat of zinc chromate primer in accordance with Specification JAN-P-735 or MIL-P-8585 and two coats of equipment enamel in accordance with class 2 of Specification MIL-E-15090. 3.9.2

21、Faying surfaces of alumnum shall be coated with zinc-chromate primer in accordance with Specification JAN-P-735, and allowed to set before assembly, Copper arid brass shall be insulated from aluminum. 3.10 Identification and label plates. - 3.10.1 The following plates shall be provided. Any electrical equipment which must be installed in an air stream shall be located on the dry air side. Wiring within

Provision shall be made for connections to an external control switch furnished by the Govern- ment whichwill be closed when de

28、humidification is required, Provision shall be mzde to energize this circuit at 110 volts and O. 5 amperes maximum. A manual control switch shall be provided, permitting opgratipn of the dehumidifier regvdiess of the setting of the external control switch. and shall conform to the following classifi
