2、 by all departments and agencies of the Department of Defense. 1. SCOPE 1.1 Scope. This specification covers the requirements for the manufacture and acceptance of the Mark 45 Mod O Impulse Cartridge (see 6. i). 2. APPLICABLE DOCUMENTS 2.1 General. The documents listed in this section are specified

3、in sections 3 and 4 of this specification. This section does not include documents cited in other sections of this specification or recommended for additional information or as examples. While every effort has been made to ensure the completeness of this list, document users are cautioned that they

In the event of a conflict between the text of this document and the references cited herein, the text

REQUIREMENTS 3.1 First article. Whe

15、n specified (see 6.2), a sample shall be subjected to first article inspection in accordance with 4.3. 3.2 Conformance to documents. The Mark 45 Mod O Impulse Cartridge covered by this Specification shall be manufactured in accordance with DL537926. 3.3 Materials. All materials used in the manufactu

16、re of the cartridges shall conform strictly to the specifications referred to on the respective drawings. When alternate materials or methods of manufacture are specified on the drawings, the bidders selections shall be clearly stated in the proposal. 3.4 Primary components. For the purpose of this

17、specification, the primer mix (Drawing 2406487) is considered a primary component. 3.5 Insulation resistance. Prior to installation of the bridgewire, the insulation resistance between pins and case shall not be less than 2 megohms at a relative humidity of less than 80 percent when measured with a

18、500-volt megohmmeter (see 4.5.1). 3.6 Bridgewire. The bridgewire shall be welded to the pins. 3.7 Bridgewire continuity. Before filling the cavity around the bridges with the igniter compound, the bridge assemblies shall be thoroughly cleaned and inspected for proper attachment and absence of projec

19、ting ends. After cleaning, the bridgewire shall be flashed by application of an electric current to assure continuity of both bridgewires. The current shall be regulated to produce a visible red glow of the bridges. An electromagnetic force (EMF) of approximately 1.5 volts ac or dc may be used with

20、a suitable series resistor to adapt the source characteristics to the primer resistance. Flashing is a necessary manufacturing operation and shall be conducted on each bridgewire assembly. Assemblies which fail to glow in both bridges shall be screened fiom acceptable material in the process. The di

21、scarded assemblies may be reworked by replacement of the bridges. 3.8 Primer mix. The primer mix shall be compounded as specified on Drawing 2406487. 3.9 Loading of igniter composition. The techniques of loading the igniter composition shall be such as to avoid damage to the bridgewire. The composit

22、ion shall be smoothed off flush with the top of the caviy. All igniter composition shall be removed from exterior lateral areas of the spacer. Allow to dry thoroughiy before cementing mylar disc in place. The dried Composition shall be free from cracks, voids, and separation fiom the ignition cup. T

23、he charge shall entirely cover the bridgewire. 3.10 Propellant charge. 3.10.1 Quantity. All propellant charges shall be determined by weight rather than by volume measurement. 3.10.2 Smokeless powder: handling, and loading. The smokeless powder shall be subjected to no unnecessary handling or exposu

24、re to the atmosphere. 25、ed 75 percent. 3.10.3 Smokeless powder, condition. The smokeless powder used shall exhibit no evidence of decomposition (see 4.5.2). 3.11 Cartridge inspection. 3.1 1.1 Bridgewire resistance. The resistance of each bridgewire in each completely assembled cartridge, when measured electrically (see 4.5

26、.4), shall be not less than 0.130 ohm nor greater than 0.160 ohm. 3.11.2 X-ray. Cartridges shall be free of imperfections when X-rayed (see 4.5.5). 3.12 Ballistic requirements. Cartridges shall meet the ballistic requirements specified in 3.12.1 through 3.12.3 when subjected to the test of 4.5.6. 3.

27、12.1 Maximum pressure. The upper (U) and lower (L) limits of maximum pressure shall be U = 2300 psi and L = 1800 psi, respectively. 3.12.2 Misfire. There shall be no misfires (see 4.5.6.1). 3.12.3 Hangfire. There shall be no hangfires (see 4.5.6.2). 3.13 Workmanship. Cartridges shall be free of the

28、following defects: burrs, dents, incomplete or damaged threads, improper crimp, perforated closure disc, bent pins, or other defects which may prevent entry of the cartridge into the firing chamber, or affect resistance of the cartridge to moisture. All cartridge marking and identification shall be

29、verified as proper (see 4.5.3). 4. VERIFICATION 4.1 Classification of inspections. a. First article inspection (see 4.3) b. Quality conformance inspection (see 4.4) 4.2 Inspection conditions. Unless otherwise specified, all inspections shall be performed in accordance with the test conditions specif

30、ied in 4.5. 4.3 First article inspection. First article inspection shall be performed after award of contract and prior tu production by a facility designated in the contract or order (see 6.2). A first article sample acceptable for environmental and hction testing shall be considered a sample which

31、 has met the requirements of 3.2 through 3.1 1.2 and 3.13. First article inspection shall be performed on sample units which have been produced using the same materials, equipment, processes, and procedures as will be used in regular production. All parts and materials, including packaging and packi

32、ng shall be the same as used for regular production and shall be from the same sources of supply. 4.3.1 Sample size. 33、L-2366 1 B(0S) Cartridge 4.3.2 Inspection routine. Sixty cartridges shall be expended in the tests listed below and a quantity of retain samples, as specified in the contract, shall be used for investigative purposes. Testing shall consist of the following tests as prescribed in MIL-D-21625: 15 “g”

34、shock (6); vibration (6); temperature and humidity cycling (12). After environmental treatment, these cartridges are to be conditioned together with 12 untreated cartridges, at 70F and fired as specified in 4.5.6. In addition 12 cartridges each shall be conditioned at -65F and 160F and fired as spec

35、ified in 4.5.6 to check temperature sensitiviy. Acceptance of the 70F firings shall be in accordance with 4.5.6. Preservation-packaging, Section 5, 4.5.3 (MI03) packing, and marking Contract 4.3.3 Failure. Failure of any cartridge shall be cause for rejection of the first article sample. 4.4 Quality

36、 conformance inspection. Quality conformance inspection shall consist of the tests and examinations specified in table I. 4.4.1 Lot size. Unless otherwise specified (see 6.2), the production lot size shall be not less than 11 1 and not greater than 500. Only primary components from a single lot shal

37、l be used in a production lot of cartridges; however, one primary component lot may be used in more than one cartridge production lot. 4.4.2 Sampling. Unless otherwise specified (see 6.2), sampling shall be in accordance with table II. 4.4.3 Ciassification of characteristics. The characteristics ver

38、ified by the tests and examinations herein are classified as Critical, Major or Minor in accordance with DOD-STD-2 1 O 1. Tests and esaminations that veri critical Characteristics are identified by the symbol (C) and major characteristics by the symbol (M). The number following the classification sy

39、mbol indicates the serial number of test or examination. Prior to assembly of

41、 the bridgewire in the body and spacer assembly, the insulation resistance shall be checked with a 500-volt megohmmeter. Units with a resistance of less than 2 megohms shall be cause for rejection. 4.5.2 Smokeless powder, condition. Smokeless powder shall be inspected in accordance with the applicab

42、le paragraphs of OP 5. Evidence of decomposition shall be cause for rejection. 4.5.3 Visual examination. All cartridges shall be visually esamined. Cartridges having any of the defects of 3.11.3 shall be cause for rejection. The preservation-packaging, packing, and marking of the cartridges shall be

43、 examined for conformance to section 5 and the contract (see 6.5). 4.5.4 Bridgewire resistance. Conformance with the bridgewire circuit resistance of 3.11.1 shall be ascertained on all completely assembled cartridges by means of a test circuit which limits the bridge circuit current to 50 milliamper

44、es, maximum. A safety chamber with an interlock switch shall be used to protect the operator during the application of current. A suitable instrument which is known to be accurate to within 0.005 ohm in the range of resistance specified shall be used to determine whether or not the requirement is be

45、ing met. Units which fail to meet the requirement of 3.1 1.1 shall be cause for rejection. The results of bridge circuit resistance measurements shall not be affected by resistance of the test circuit and connector. 4.5.5 Radiographic examination. All cartridges, in the first article and production

46、test samples, shall be radiographically examined in accordance with ASTM E 1742. Cartridges having any observable imperfections in assembly shall be cause for rejection. The cartridges shall be positioned on their sides for the most revealing exposure. All cartridges shall be identified with serial

Th

48、e cartridges shall be arranged on trays or boards in consecutive numerical order, and each radiograph shall carry a permanent identification of the cartridges displayed thereon. The radiograph identification shall include the complete lot number, as stamped on the cartridges, and the span of serial

49、numbers displayed. If any assembly or loading defects are noted in the production lot sample, the contractor shall X-ray the represented lot 100 percent and make available the X-rays to the cartridge design activity for review. Discontinuities in serial numbers shall be identified on the X-ray. Defective cartridges found by the vendor shall be clearly identified on the X-ray and those defectives removed from the production lot. The serial numbers s
