REQUIRE
9、MENTS 3.1 First article. Unless otherwise specified (see 6.21, prior to submission of any complete production items for acceptance, the contractor shall furnish two first articles for testing under the direction and supervision of the cognizant Government inspector to determine conformance to this s
10、pecification. First article is defined as a frequency converter which will be identical to the production units which the contractor will subsequently produce in fulfillment of the contract. first articles by the activity concerned shall not relieve the contractor of the responsibility to supply fre
11、quency converters conforming to this specification, Any changes or deviations of the production units from the first articles shall be subject to the approval of the contracting officer. articles may be included in the final shipment as part of the total quantity to be supplied under the contract, p

In the selection of parts and materials, fulfillment of major design objectives shall be the prime consideration, In allcases, general material requ
13、irements as to nonflammability, fungus resistance, and nontoxicity as required by MIL-E-16400 must be met. doing so, the following factors shall govern. In 3.2.1 Electronic components. Ail transistors and semiconductors used in the construction of the frequency converter shall be reported to the contracting officer by completion and submission of Form DD-816. *3.3 Design
19、and construction. The solid state frequency converter described herein shall be capable of converting tactical utility class 2, 60 hertz (Hz), 120/208 alternating current (ac) volts 55 percent, 3-phase power as defined in MIL-STD-1332, to 400-Hz power as specified herein. 3.3.1 Skid base. The freque
20、ncy converter shall be mounted on a skid base. or A373 or of aluminum alloy, ASTM type 6061-T6. braced and reinforced by crossmembers to support the frequency converter. The skid base shall include a bottom sheet of the same thickness as the frequency converter housing. The bottom of the skid base s
21、hall present a smooth contour surface, and the crossmembers or components shall not be lower than the bottom sheet. 43、 converter shall conform to the interchangeability requirements specified in MI1 -E- 16400. 3.4 Reliability. Reliability shall receive major emphasis during the design, fabrication, and construction of the frequency converter. This emphasis shall be reflected in the assembly processes and the determ
44、ination of operational techniques. and sample items shall be subjected to the mechanical and electrical tests specified in Section 4. Mechanical wear shall be such that mechanical or functional performance is not affected. Abrasion of painted surfaces is allowable. shall not be degrad.ed. the freque
