Gaskets shall be manufactured from ingot iron with a maximum chemical content of designated items as shown in table I, total content.of carbon, m
12、anganesc, phosphorus, sulfur, and silicon not to exceed 0.14 percent; from resistance-welded tubing in accordance with class A of MIL-T-17188 or grade A of ACTMA-178; or from seamless steel tubing in accordance with class A of MIL-T-16286, composition A of KK-T-731 or ASTN A-192. The workmanship shall be first class in every respect. 4. QUALITY ASSURAiiCE PROVISIONS 4.1 Responsibilit for inspect
14、ion. Unless otherwise specified in the contract or purchase order, the supilier is responsible for the performance of all inspection require- ments as specified herein. Except as otherwise specified, the supplier may utilize his own facilities or any commercial laboratory acceptable to the Governmen
15、t. reserves $he right to perform any of the inspections set forth in the specification where such inspections are deemed necessary to assure supplies and services conform to prescribed requirements. The Government 4.2 Sampling for quality conformance inspection. 4.2.1 Lot. All gaskets of the same si
16、ze manufactured from the same batch of material and presenteat one time shall be considered a lot for purposes of examination and tests. 4.2.2 Sampling for examination. lot of material offered for visual and dimensional characteristics with lot acceptance based on the sampling procedures of MIL-STD-
17、105, Special Inspection Lcvel S-l. Acceptable Quality Level (AQL) shall be 1.5 percent defective. 29、as specified, I 4.3.2 Chemical analysis. Each of the sample gaskets sclected in accordance with 4.2.3 shall be analyzed by method 111 of FEU-STD-151 to determine conformance with 3.1. If any sample fails to conform to 3.1, this shall be cause for rejection of the entire lot. shall be tested by metho
30、d 243 of FED-STU-151 to determine conformance with 3.4. Any sample gasket which does not meet the requirements specified in 3.4 shall be subject to rejection, and if the number of nonconforming gaskcts in any sample exceeds the acceptance number for that sample, this shall be cause for rejection of
31、the lot represented by the sample. Rejected lots shall not be resubmitted. 4.3.3 Hardness test. Each of the sample gaskets selected in accordance with 4.2.4 4.3.4 Examination of preparation for delivery. An examination shall be made to determine that the packaging, parking, and markings comply with
32、the requirements of Section 5 of this specification. Examination shall be conducted in accordance with table II. The sample units for this examination shall be shipping containers fully packed, selected just prior to the closing operation. Shipping containers fully prepared for delivery shall be exa
33、mined for closure defects. The lot size shall be the number of shipping containers in the lot. Selection of random samples and examination shall be niade at Inspection Level S-2 of MIL-STD-105. The AQL shall be 2.5 percent defective. 5. PREPARATION FOR DELIVERY (Preparation for delivery requirements
34、 specified herein apply only to direct Govern- ment procurement. Preparation for delivery requirements between contractors and sub- contractors shall be as specified in the individual order.) 5.1 Preservation and packaging. as specified (see 6.2). Quantity per unit package shall be as specified by the procuring activity. Preservation compound shall conform to type P-2 or P-6 or MIL-P-116. forming to PPP-B-
36、566, PPP-B-665, or PPP-U-676. The weight of each intermediate packages under PPP-B-566 or PPP-B-676 shall not exceed 5 pounds. The weight.of each intermediate package under PPP-B-665 shall not exceed 20 pounds. Package closures shall conform to the applicable specifications or appendix thereto. Unit

38、fords adeqmotection against corrosion, deterioration, and physical damage during shipment from supply source to the first receiving activity for immediate use. This level may conform to the suppliers commercial practices, provided the latter meets the require- ments of this level. 5.2 Packing. Packi
39、ng shall be Level A, B, or C, as specified (see 6.2). 5.2.3 Level A. Gaskets packaged as specified in 5.1.1 shall be packed in fiberboard shipping containers conforming to PPP-B-G36, class weather resistant. shipping containers shall be uniform in shape and size and contain identical quantities. 40、ss weigh shall be limited to the special requirements of the container specification.
