(See 3

36、.2 through 3.7. ) 4.6.1.2 Methods of measurement sf dimensions. - 4.6.1.2.1 Thickness. - The thickness of the tape shall be determined in accordance with the method specified in ASTM D580. 4.6.1.2.2 Width. - The width shall be determined by the use of a standard steel scale graduated to read in 1/16

37、 inch. The tape shall be pressed flat on a smooth surface at the time of representative points on the material at least 1 yard apart and the maximum, minimum and average valves recorded. 4.6.1.3 Materials. - 4.6.1.3.1 Resin content. - The resin content shall be determined in accordance with the orga

The samples resulting from the resin content test of 4.6.1.3.1 may be examined for actual ends content or new samples may be examined by use of a magnifier of approximately

39、 200 power. An therefore with this construction 1 end = 2 yarns = 4 strands. Number of ends. - The glass construction shall be examined to determine the number of ends - end is defined as a twisted and plied yarn. ECG 150 2/2 glass consists of 2 strands twisted and 2 yarns plied; 4.6.2 Bonding and c

40、uring. - The tape shall bond to itself after heating under pressure for 20 minutes at 150C. and shall be fully cured after heating 5 hours at 150C. 4.6.3 Tensile strength. - The tensile strength shall be determined on glass bands formed and tested using the split mandrel test jig. 4.6.3.1 Preparatio

41、n of samples. - Bands shall be prepared by winding the glass tape under 500 pounds minimum tension, per inch of width, flat and free from buckles, on to a split mandrel in accordance with figures 1 and 2. Eight turns shall be wound per band (8 layers of glass on each side) and each band shall be one

42、 inch wide. Two one-inch bands may be wound on the mandrel by using a center spacer ring 1/2-inch wide and 1/4-inch thick. Terminal joints in the bands may be made by applying a hot clean soldering . 5 Provided by IHSNot for ResaleNo reproduction or networking permitted without license from IHS-,-,-

After winding and terminating, the bands shall be cured on the mandrel for 5 hours at 15OoC. Bands prepared

45、 in accordance with the above procedure shall be known as “cold bands“. A release agent may be used to allow the cured bands to be removed from the mandrel. Hot banding samples will also be required. The procedure for sample prep- aration shall be the same as above except the tape shall be heated pr

The ends shall be securely tied during the curing (on the mandrel) cycle to prevent any slippage. 4.6.3.2 Tensile testing. - The tensile test shall be c

47、onducted in accordance with the procedure described in ASTM D638 using the glass band specimens, and a tensile test machine of a maximum of 30,000 pounds scale reading, and operating at a speed of O. 05 inches per minute. Where hot breaking load is required to be determined, the split ring test fixt

Type B and type H tapes do not contain cross threads. 6 months. Exposure to temperatures above 20C. (68F.) for extended periods may make the tape useless. When its shelf life has passed, the resin has cured and it is no longer soft and pliable. Close watch of
