3、3.1 Material.- The marking ink shall be a stable, homogenous, liquid, compounded of suitable resins, pigments, modifiers, and solvents. JC 3.1.1 Prohibited material.- The ink shall contain no benzol (benzene), aniline or chlorinated solvents. 3.2 Color.- Unless otherwise specified, the color of theh
4、k shall be black. 3.3 Condition in container.- A fresy opened fuii container of the ink shall show no hard settling. Any settling shall mix readily to a smooth consistency by s?irring or shaking. curdling, livering or caking, and shall be free from lumps and skins. The ink shall show no 3.4 Viscosit
5、y.- When tested as specified in 4.3.6, the viscosity of the ink shall be 75 to 90 seconds at 779. 8、nk shail be non-tacky to the touch after drying for 2 minutes and shall be completely dry within 2 hours when tested as specified in 4.3.6. * 3.7.3 Adhesion.- The ink lettering shall remab legible (all the letters shall be distinct and complete in every detail) after being abraded with steel wool as
9、 specified in 4.3.6. 3.7.4 Water resistance.- There shall be no running, spreading, smearing, cracking, flaking or separating of the ink when impressions on vinyl coated nylon fabrics are soaked in water when tested as speci- fied in 4.3.6. 3.7.5 Solvent resistance.- There shai be no softening or du
10、lling of the ink when impressions are treated with solvents as specified in 4.3.6. ._ * 3.7.6 Blocking and migration.- There shall be no transferring of the ink from the coated fabrics or migration u1 the coated fabric when - tested as specified in 4.3.7. 3.7.7 Flexibility.- There sha. be no crackin
11、g, flaking or separating of the ink from the fabric when tested as specified in 4.3.6. 3.7.8 Low temperature flexibility.- There shall be no cracking, flaking or separating of the ink from the fabric when tested as speci- fied in 4.3.6. * 3.8 Labeling.- In addition to the markings specified in 5.3,

QUALITY ASSURfXNCE PROVISIONS * 4.1 Responsibility for inspection.- Unless otherwise specified in the contract or purchase order, the supplier is responsible for the perform- ance of all inspection requ
15、irements as specified herein. Except as otherwise specified in the contract or order, the supplier may use his own or any other facilities suitable for the performance of the in- spection requirements specified herein, unless disapproved by the Govern- ment. The Government reserves the right to perf
16、orm any of the in- spections set forth in the specification where such inspections are deemed necessary to assure supplies and services conform to prescribed requirements . * 4.1.1 Certificate of compliance.- Where certificates of compliance are submitted, the Govement reserves the right to check te

24、ed at 73.5 - + 3.59. and at 50 + - 2 percent relative humidity. - test fabrics conforming to class 2 of MIL-c-o (see 6.3). 4.4.2 Standard fabrics.- All impressions shall be made on standard 4.4.3 Performance.- All tests shall be conducted using unthimed ink applied with a stencil brush conforming to

34、y volume) ethyl alcohol conforming to grade I, class B of O-E-760. Immerse for one minute. examine the ink impressions for softening and dulling. the test fabric as specified in 4.4.3.1 and allow to dry for two hours. Piace the test fabric, inked side down, on a piece of test fabric which has not be
35、en inked and apply a &-pound weight to the two-inch square test area. 16 hours. room temperature. Separate the surfaces. Examine the lettering for migration of ink into the coating adjacent to the lettering and the uninked surface for ink transfer. immerse Remove the specimens from the solvents and

NOTES * 6.1 Intended use.- The ink covered by this specification is intended for the stencil marking of vinyl coated Wlon fabrics at posts, camps, and stations.
44、6.2 Ordering data.- Procurement documents should specify the following: a. Title, number and date of this specification. b. Color desired, if other than black (see 3.2). 6.3 Standard samples.- Samples of vinyl coated nylon fabric for testing purposes may be obtained from the U. S. Army Natick Labora
