SCOPE 1.1 Scope - The equipment covered by this specification shall

2、display aircraft pitch and roll information derived from a vertical gyroscope housed within a two-inch case of the indicator. 2. Copies of this specification and applicable specifications required by con- tractors in connection with specific procurement functions may be obtained

REQUIREMENTS 3.1 Preproduction - This specification makes provision for preproduction testing. -3 - Provided by IHSNot for ResaleNo reproduction or networking permitted w

12、ithout license from IHS-,-,-MIL -I -8 1 4 9 6 (AS) 3.2 Parts and Materials - In the selection of parts and materials fulfillment of major design objectives shall be the prime consid- eration. Parts and materials shall, where possible, conform to Specifi- cation MIL-E-5400. 3.2.1 Indicator Component

13、Parts: The indicator shall consist of an indicator case containing a vertical gyro, a sphere to indicate pitch and roll, a bank index to indicate roll, related circuitry and mechanism, a power failure indicating device, a mechanism to adjust pitch trim, and a fast erect capability. Integral lighting

14、 shall be provided. 3.2.1.1 Interchanqeability of Parts - All parts having the same manufacturers part number shall be directly and completely inter- changeable with each other with respect to installation and performance, Changes in manufacturers part numbers shall be governed by the identi- fying

15、number change requirements of MIL-STD-100. 3.2.2 Nonstandard Parts and Materials Approval - Approval for the use of nonstandard parts and materials shall be obtained as out- lined in Specification MIL-E-5400. 3.2.3 Metals: Metals shall be of the corrosion-resistant type or suitably treated to resist

16、 corrosion due to fuels, salt spray, or atmospheric conditions, likely to be met in storage or normal Service. 3.2.4 Nonmagnetic Wterials: Nonmagnetic materials shall - be used for all parts of the indicator, except where magnetic materials are essential. 3.2.5 Funqus-Proof Materials: Materials that

17、 are nutrients for fungi shall not be used where it is practical to avoid them. Where used and not hermetically sealed, they shall be treated with a fungicidal agent acceptable to the procuring activity. hermetically sealed inclosure, fungicidal treatment will not be necessary. 20、against such deterioration in a manner that will in no way prevent compliance with the performance requirements of this specification. The use of any protective coating that will crack, chip, or scale with age or extremes of climatic and environmental conditions shall be avoided. 3.2.7.1 Aluminum al

21、loy parts - Aluminum alloy parts shall be covered with an anodic film conforming to MIL-A-8625 except as follows: 3.2.7.1.1 Dials, small holes, and case inserts need not be anodized. 3.2.7.2 Castings containing non-aluminum alloy integral in- serts may be treated with a chemical film in accordance w

22、ith MIL-(3-5541 in lieu of anodizing. 3.2.7.3 Parts in a hermetically sealed container need not be anodized. 3.3 Resign and Construction: The indicator shall be so de- signed and constructed that adjustment and repairs can be easily made by the personnel of operating units and overhaul bases. It sha

23、ll withstand the temperature extremes, the strains, jars and vibrations incident to shipping, storage, installation and service. The equipment shall conform with all the applicable requirements of Specification MIL-E-5400 for design, cons truc- tion and workmanship, except as otherwise specified her

24、ein. 3.3.1 Total Weisht - The total weight of the equipment, excluding cables, shall be a minimum consistent with good design and shall not exceed 2.50 pounds. 3.3.2 Reliability - 3.3.2.1 Operational Stability - The equipment shall operate with satisfactory performance, continuously or intermittentl

25、y for a period of at least 500 hours without the necessity for readjustment of any controls which are inaccessible to the operator during normal use. 26、ting Life - The equipment shall have a minimum operating life of 5,000 hours with reasonable servicing and replacement of parts. contractor. Parts requiring scheduled replacement shall be specified by the 3.3.2.3 Reliability in Mean Time Between Failure (MTBF) - The indicator shall have a mean time

27、between failure of 2,000 hours, when tested and accepted as outlined under the requirements of 4.4.3, 3.3.3 Cabling and Connections - 3.3.3.1 Cables and Connectors - The equipment shall provide for the use of cables and connectors in accordance with Specification MIL- E-5400. 3.3.3.2 Interconnection

28、 Cabling - The equipment shall be capable of satisfactory operation using external wiring in accordance with the applicable requirements of Specification MIL-W-5088. wiring shall be unshielded, except that a minimum of the individual wires may be shielded when demonstrated as necessary to meet inter

29、ference con- trol requirements and provided the assembly of the cable to its plugs may be easily accomplished. External cables and that portion of the connectors attached to the cables shall not be supplied as part of the equipment. The external 3.3.4 Interchangeability of Re-ordered Equipment - For

30、 re- ordered equipment interchangeability shall exist between units and all replaceable assemblies , subassemblies, and parts of a designated model of any previously manufactured equipment , supplied or designated by the procuring activity. 3.3.5 Interference Control - The generation of radio inter-

31、 ference by the equipment and the vulnerability of the equipment to radio interference shall be controlled within the limits of Specification MIL-STD-46 1. 3.3.6 Maintenance Provisions and Field Testing - Provisions for maintenance shall be as specified in Specification MIL-E-5400. 3.3.7 Nomenclatur

33、 1 49 6 (AS) 3.3.8 Standard Conditions - The following conditions shall be used to establish normal performance characteristics under standard conditions and for making laboratory bench tests. Temperature Room Ambient (25C 2 5C) Altitude Normal ground (0-500 ft.) Vibration None Humidity Room ambient

34、 up to 90% relative humidity Input power voltage 115 2 3.0 V Single Phase AC and 5.0 20.5 VAC/DC 3.3.9 Service Conditions - The equipment shall operate satis- factorily under any of the environmental service conditions or reasonable com- bination of these conditions as specified in Specification MIL

35、-E-5400 for Class 2 equipment, except as modified herein: 3.3.9.1 Vibration - The indicator shall operate satisfactorily while being subjected to vibration requirements of Curve I of Specification MIL-E-5400. 3.3.9.2 Temperature - External storage at - 62C shall have no adverse effects on the indica

36、tor. 3.3.9.3 Altitude - The equipment shall operate satisfactorily up to a maximum altitude of 80,000 feet. 3.3.10 Warm-Up-Time - The time required for the equipment to warm up prior to operation shall be kept to a minimum and shall not ex- ceed 3.5 minutes under standard conditions and 5. O minutes

37、 at extreme . service conditions. 3.3.11 Wirinq - The internal electrical wiring of the indicator shall be insulated from its case. with Figure I (see 3.5.6.3, Table I). The external wiring shall be in accordance 3.3611.1 Insulation Resistance - The insulation resistance of the indicator must be 50

39、Input Electrical Power - 3.3.12.1 Operating Power - The equipment shall meet all appli- cable requirements of MIL-STD-704 and shall give specified performance when energized from the following power sources having characteris tics and limits as defined in MIL-STD-704. The power required shall not ex

40、- ceed the specified amounts, (1) AC Power (Single Phase), 115V, 400 cps 20 VA 3.3.12.2 Liqhtinq Power - The integral lighting shall use 0-5 V ac or dc maximum 5 VA power derived from the power supply normally used for lighting the other instruments. 3.3.12.3 Degraded Performance - Degraded performa

41、nce will be permitted for voltage transients not exceeding O. 5 second during nor- mal electric system operation. Operation shall return to normal with no resulting damage to the equipment. 3.4 Performance - Unless otherwise specified, values set forth to establish the requirements for satisfactory

42、performance apply to performance under both standard and extreme service conditions. When reduced performance under the extreme conditions is acceptable, tolerances or values setting forth acceptable variations from the performance under the standard conditions will be specified, 3.4.1 Operation - T

43、he indicator shall provide accurate visual presentation of aircraft displacement in the roll and pitch axes which are referenced to gravity, without requiring inputs from any external source other then power supply. 3.4.1.1 Accuracy - The indicator, when connected and oper- ated at standard conditio

44、ns, shall provide a pitch and roll accuracy of at least O. 2 5 degree. 3.5 Detail Requirements - 3.5.1 Vertical Gyroscope - The indicator shall comprise a 115 v single phase 400 cycle operated vertical gyro mounted in a case with its outer gimbal axis fore-and-aft, and its inner gimbal axis athwarts

46、 aft velocity changes. A move- able roll index shall be fixed to the outer gimbal: the index shall move over a scale fixed to the case. A moveable sphere, mechanically driven by the inner gimbal, shall register movement in the pitch and roll axes with respect to a miniature airplane mounted on an ad

47、justable bracket and located at the center of the indicator glass cover. The attitude presenta- tion shall be from zero to 360 degrees roll, 92 degrees climb and 82 de- grees dive. The indicator shall be.adjusted to indicate zero pitch when mounted with the case at an angle of 7 degrees from the ver

48、tical with the connector end of the indicator rotated downward. Rotation of a knob, lo- cated on the bezel, shall adjust the position of the miniature airplane to a maximum of ten degrees in dive and five degrees in climb. Pulling the knob shall cage the gyro in pitch and roll: rotating the knob clo

49、ckwise while it is fully out shall lock the gyro in the caged position. A warning flag shall come into view when the gyro is caged, or if the AC power sup- ply is interrupted. Anqular Momentum - The gyro shall be of such design and shall possess sufficient angular momentum to insure that the perform- ance required in this equipment will be met throughout all operating condi- tions specified herein. 3.5.1.1 3.5.1.2
