Prior to submission of any complete production items for acceptance, the Contractor shall furnish two first articles for examination and test within the time frame specified (see 6.
21、2) for determination of conformance to this specification. Examinations and tests shall be those specified herein. Production items shall not deviate from the accepted first article. Approval of the first article will not relieve the supplier of his obligation to furnish motor-generators conforming
22、to this specification. “3.2 Parts and materials. Materials not definitely speci- fied herein shall be selected by the contractor and shall be subject to all provisions of this specification. The use of nonstandard parts or materials shall be governed by requirement 22 of MIL-STD-454. Materials used
23、in fabrication of the motor-generator shall not support the growth of fungus as specified in requirement 4 of MIL-STD-454. “3.2.1 Corrosion-resistinq metals and treatments. *3.2.1.1 Metals. The following are the only acceptable . corrosion-resisting metals (as distinguished from corrosion- resisting
24、 treatments) : (a) Corrosion-resisting steel which contains a minimum of I2 percent chromium (b) Copper (c) Aluminum (d) Aluminum alloys which do not contain more than 0.4 percent copper. The following are the only acceptable corrosion-resisting treatments: (a) Sherardizing (b) Galvanizing (c) Electrodepositing with cadmium, chromium, copper, nickel, silver or zinc. (d
26、) Aluminizing *3.2.1.3 Contact of dissimilar metals. Contact joints between dissimilar metals shall be avoided as much as practicable. Where contacts between aluminum, magnesium, or their alloys, and other metals cannot be avoided (such as at faying surfaces), the contact joints shall be painted wit
27、h not less than one coat of phenolic primer in accordance with MIL-P-12742, except where electromagnetic compatibility requirements preclude the use of such primer and on machined fits where such-painting is not practicable. Jc3.2.2 Funqus and water resistance. The material used in the electrical ci
28、rcuitry, including all components and connections, shall be nonnutrient to fungus growth and inherently moistureproof . Materials not so protected shall be given an overall treatment with a varnish conforming to MIL-V-173 and a final coat conforming to MIL-1-24092 with r the following exceptions: (a
29、) (b) Components or circuit elements which are hermetically sealed need not be treated. Components or circuit elements whose functions would be adversely affected by the varnish coating shall not be treated. When used, the varnish shall be applied by spray or brush, or a combination of both, to give
30、 a minimum dry-film thickness of 0.001 inch to component or element surfaces previously cleaned and prepared so that they are free from all foreign matter which would interfere with adherence or functioning of the varnish. Materials used in fabrication of the motor-generator shall not support combustin as specified in requirement 3 of MIL-STD-454. “3.2.4 Adhesives. Adhesives used in the fabrication of the motor-gene
32、rator shall be as specified in requirement 23 Of MIL-STD-454. “3.2.5 Relays. Relays shall be the ruggedized, sealed type which meet the requirements of class D 10 of MIL-R-6106. If relays which meet the requirements of class D 10 of MIL-R-6106 are not available for a particular application, the rela
33、y applied shall, as a minimum, meet the requirements of class D 10 of MIL-R-6106 for sealing, shock, and vibration. “3.2.6 Pushbuttons and limit switches. Pushbuttons and limit switches shall be of the sealed type conforming to MIL-S-8805. *3.2-.7 Vacuum tubes. The use of vacuum tubes, gas filled tu
34、bes, voltage regulator tubes, and any other electronic tubes is prohibited. “3.2.8 Resistors and rheostats. Unless otherwise specified herein, resistors and rheostats shall conform to requirement 33 Of MIL-STD-454. “3.2.9 Capacitors. Capacitors shall conform to requLrement 2 Of MIL-STD-454. “3.2.10
35、Current transformers. Current transformers shall be of the window type conforming to requirement 14 of MIL-STD-454, with burden to suit load, except that nonstandard ratios as required may be used. Current transformers shall be connected so that they will not require reconnection for the various vol
36、tage connections of the generator windings. *3.2.11 Toqqle switches. Toggle switches shall be of the sealed-toggle type conforming to MIL-S-3950. shall be mounted so that the “ON“ position is away from the operator, up, or to the right of the operator. 38、on-resistant material or material conforming to type II, class I of QQ-P-416. Fasteners (bolts, screws, studs, etc.) shall nut be depended upon to carry current; they shall serve merely to hold current- carrying parts (lugs, teridnals, etc.) in firm contact with each other. Where flow OE current thr
39、ough a stud cannot be avoided, the stud and all its associated hardware (nuts, locking devices, washers, etc.) shall be made of corrosion- resistant material, Positive means (such as square shanks or pins) shall be provided for preventing turning of studs in their mountings when nuts are tightened o
40、r loosened: lock- washers which depend on friction or spring action will not be accepted for this purpose. Unused length of studs (or screws used as studs) shall not exceed half the diameter of the stud. *302013 Fasteners, except electrical. Fasteners, except electrical, shall conform to requirement
41、 12 of MIL-STD-454. No swaging, peening, or staking of parts subject to removal or adjustment shall be permitted, *3.2.14 Terminal boards and strips. Terminal boards and strips shall conform to requirement 19 of MIL-STD-454. Ter- minal boards and strips shall be used in preference to quick disconnec
42、t connectors, which shall be used only where termi- nal boards and strips cannot practicably be used. *3.2,15 Hinqes and latches. Hinges shall conform to MS35823 and shall be material A when attached to aluminum and material C when attached to steel. Latches shall be made of corrosion- resisting met
43、al and shall require manual, not spring, action for closing. *3.2,16 Semiconductors. Semiconductors shall conform to requirement 30 of ML-STD-454. In addition, all semiconductors shall be capable of withstanding, or be protected against, transient voltages and current peaks as may be experienced dur
44、ing the following conditions: (a) Short circuit (single or three phase) at the set terminals. (b) Sudden application of half rated load at the set terminals. 45、device through anactual overvoltage condition of the set. The use of circuits which require semiconductor devices of matched or paired characteristics is prohibited. Rotating rectifiers shall be readily accessible for testing and replacement in the field. . “3.2.17 Sheet metal screws. Sheet metal sc
46、rews shall not be used. “3.2.18 Quick disconnect fasteners. Quick disconnect fasteners shall conform to type II or type III of MIL-F-5591 *3.2.19 Wire and cable. Single-conductor wire shall conform to MIL-W-5086. Multiconductor cables shall conform to MIL-C-3432. All wires shall be not smaller in di
47、ameter than No. 16 American Wire Gage (AWG). The amount of current carried by any one wire shall be not more than the values specified in MIL-W-5088 for bundled wires. *3.2.20 Printed circuit boards. Printed circuit boards, if utilized, shall be fabricated in accordance with MIL-P-55110 using copper
48、 clad laminate in accordance with MIL-P-13949, type G.F. The boards shall be electro-solder plated (0.001 inch minimum thickness) with solder conforming to QQ-S-571, composition SN60 or SN63. After etching, the boards shall be tin or solder immersed. The finished boards shall be coated with insulati
49、ng compound in accordance with MIL-1-46058. The coating buildup shall be not less than 0.050 inch. Care shall be exercised to avoid coating connection provisions on the board (pins, sockets, terminal strips, etc.) with the insulating compound (conformal coating) . *3.3 Desiqn and construction.
