SCOPE . 1.1 This specification covers sheathing paper for
2、covering thermal insulation for cold piping or tubing prior to lagging. - 2. APPLICABLE SPECIFICATIONS, STANDARDS, I DRAWINGS, AND PWLICA- “IONS - . 2.1 The fql.l%ng bpecifithe burner tube to the edge of the specimen % inch. 4、, the general inspection procedures shall be in accordance with General Specifica- tions for Inspection of Material. - 4.2 Sampling.* 4.2.1 Lot.-For pumes of sampling, a lot shall consist of Bheathing paper offered for Uvwy at one time. 4.2.2 Sampling procedure for lot accept- ame impecticm and test
5、s.-If the lot consists of less than 60 rolls, 3 rolls shall be selected by the Government inspector. If these rolls; a total .of 10 sheets shall be obtained. 4.4.1.3 Report.-Results shall be reported as flaming time, which shall be the average time in seconds that the specimens continue to flame aft
6、er the burner flame is removed, and as char length, which shall the aver- age height of the charred areas in inches. 4.3 Inspection.-Sheathing paper shall be inspected !by the Government inspector to determine compliance with this specification. 4.4 Tests. - Unless otherwise Bpecified herein, tests
7、shall be conducted in accordance with the methods specified in Specification uu-P-31. -. a 4.4.2 Water repellency.-The water repel- 4.4.2.1 Apparatus. - The test apparatus shall cunsist of a metal ring 4 inches inside dimeter, 3 inches high and % inch thick, with smooth machined bottom edge, used wi
8、th a yoke of proper size. The yoke shall consist of a flat metal plate approximately 6 by 6 by Jk inches, equipped with threaded upright rods 4 inches high, and crossbar 7 by 1 lency shall be determined as follows : 4.4.1 Fire resistance test. - The fire re- sishnce shall be determined as follows: A

Rubber mats or soft felts 5.5 by 5.5 inches in size, shall be pro- vided (see fig. l). 4.4.2.2 Reagmt. - Water of reasonable purity such as ordinary drinking water shall be used in the test. 4
11、.4.2.3 Test specimens.-Five test speci- mens, each 5 inches square shall be cut from different portions of the test sample in such a manner as to be thoroughly representative of the paper offered for delivery. The speci- mens shall be free from folds, wrinkles, or other blemishes not commonly inhere
12、nt in the paper. 4.4.2.4 Procedure. 4.4.2.4.1 The specimens shall be condi- tioned by the method specified in Specifica- tion UU-P-31, and tested in the atmospheric conditions therein specified. The temperature of the water shall be maintained at 68 to 71 F. 4.4.2.4.2 The metal ring and yoke as spec
13、i- fied in 4.4.2 and as shown on figure 1 shall be used. The test specimens shall be cut . into squares and fitted between the uprights or the yoke, and weighed to an accuracy of 0.001 gm. The specimens shall be tested on OOl gm. If required, a tared weighing envelop may be used, the sample hing wei
14、ghed more leisurely. The diameter of the tested area shall measured to the closest 0,001 inch. 44.2.5 Re.-The weight of absorbed water shall *be determined in grams to 0.001 gm. by the difference (W) between the final weight and original weight of the specimen. The area tested shall be calculated fr
15、om its diameter and recorded in square inches (S) . The absorptiveness (A) shall be reported in- grams per square inch by the formula: W A =- I S The report shall be the average absorptive- ness of the five specimens tested. The period of test for each specimen shall be 5 minutes. 4.4.3 Re jection;-
16、If the average value for any sheet fails to meet the requirements of any specified test, the entire lot represented -shall be rejected. 5. PREPARATION FOR DELIVERY *. -_ men.
