Unless otherwise specified in the contract or purchase order, the contractor is responsible for the performance of all inspection requirements as specified herein. may use his own or
25、 any other facilities suitable for the performance of the inspection require- ments specified herein, unless disapproved by the Government. to perform any of the inspections set forth in the specification where such inspections are deemed necessary to assure supplies and services conform to prescrib
26、ed requirements. 4.1.1 Government verification. All quality assurance operations performed by the contractor will be subject to Government verification at any time. Verification will consist of, but is not limited to, a) surveillance of the operations to determine that practices, methods, and proced
27、ures of the written quality program are being properly applied, b) Government product inspect ion to measure quality of the product to be offered for acceptance, and c) Government inspection of delivered products to assure compliance with all inspection requirements of this specification. Failure of
28、 the contractor to promptly correct deficiencies discovered by him or of which he is notified shall be cause for suspension of acceptance until corrective action has been taken or . until conformance of the product to prescribed criteria has been demonstrated. Quality assurance terms used in this specification shall be as defined in MIL-STD-109. 4.2 Sampling. 4.2.1 Lot. Sampling shall be as specified in 4.2.1 through 4.2.3.2. For purpo
30、ses of sanpling, a lot shall consist of all the rolls of filter paper which are maafrom the same batch of stock. 4.2.1.1 Shipment lot. From each shipment lot, sanple rolls shall be randomly selected in accordance with MIL-STD-105 at inspection level II and acceptable quality level 2.5 percent defective, to determine compliance with 4.3. 4.2.3 Sampling for tests. The filter
32、paper stock shall be randmly sampled on a footage basis, or by other means approved by the procuring activity. For footage-basis sampling, 2 ft shall be removed from each randomly selected rol 1. 4.2.3,l Resistance to passa e of air at a low rate of volume. Sampling shall be in accordance with level
33、 S-4 of MIL - !TD 105 , except that the number of specimens shall be not less than six and need not exceed 15. The acceptance level for individual values failing to conform to the airflow tolerances specified in 3.3 shall be based on 2.5 percent defective. The tests shall be in accordance with 4.4.2
34、. 4.2.3.2 Resistance to passage of air at a high rate of volume and filtering efficiency. When tests for resistance to passage of air at a high rate of volume and filtering efficiency are specified (see 6.21, samplinq shall be in accordance with level S-4 of MIL-STD-105. The number of samplesfor eac

The acceptance level for individual values failing to conform to the resistance and percent efficiency tolerances specified for the applicable requirement shall be based on 2.5 percent defective. When tests in accordance with 4.4.3 and 4.4.4 are specified, the tests shall
36、 be conducted at a laboratory satisfactory to the procuring act iv i ty . 4.3 Visual and dimensional examination. The filter paper, sampled in accordance with 4.2.2, shall be examined to determine compliance with the visual and dimensional requirhents of this specification. At least 3 ft of materlal
37、 shall be unrolled from each sample roll to provide an adequate smple (to ease rerolling on spool). 4.4 Tests for physical characteristics. Tests for physical characteristics shall be as specified in 4.4.1 through 4.4.5. 4,4,1 Thickness. Thickness of filter paper shall be determined in accordance wi
38、th Method 173 of UU-P-31 (3.6 mil thickness) or TAPP1 411, except that the presser foot shall be circular with a diameter of 0.625 IR. and with the moving parts connected therewith, dead weighted so BS to apply a total load of 7 pounds per square inch, at a controlled rate of applied pressure. 4.4.2
39、 Resistance to passage of air at a low rate of volume. The resistance of the filter paper to airflow at a low rate of volune shall be conducted In accordance with Method 5450 of CCC-T-191, except that airflow shall be measured at resistance values of 0.5 in. and 1.0 in. of water, respectively. 4,4.3
40、 Resistance to passage of air at a high rate of volune. The apparatus for this test shall be such that the paper can be suitably clamped over an orifice exposing 1.86 square centimeters (cm) of filter paper. Air shall be accurately regulated to flow through this area of the filter paper at 16 liters
41、 per minute. The apparatus shall be equipped to measure accurately the resistance of the filter paper to the airflow. The resistance of the filter paper to airflow shall be reported in mn of water. 4.4.4 Filtering efficiency. The apparatus for this test shall be such that the filter paper can be sui
42、tably clamped over an orifice exposing 1.86 cm of filter paper. The apparatus shall be such that it can generate particles 0.3 pm in diameter which are carried in a stream of air flowing at a rate of 16 liters per minute through the exposed 1.86 cm rea of the filter paper. The apparatus shall have s
43、uitable means of accurately measuring the penetration of the particles into the filter paper. The results of the test shall be reported in percent efficiency or percent penatrat ion, 2 2 4.4.5 Tensile strength. The filter paper shall be tested to determine compliance with the requirements of TABLE I
44、. 4,5 Inspection of preparation for delivery. Inspection shall be performed to ensure conformance wlth the requirements of Section 5. 5.
