、 (This section contains information of a general or explanatory nature that may be helpful, Mt is not mandatory.) 6.1 Intended use. The intended use for senomtors covered by this specification must be in accordanoe with -S-81963. 6.2 Acuuisition reuuire%sntS. Acquisition documents should contain the

、 information specified in Murs-81963, and should also specify if a black finish is required for the housing. 6.3 First -article inspection. Information pertaining to first article inspedion of servamtors should be obtained as specified in MIL-S-81963. 6.4 Rated voltage and freuuenw. Normal toler- fo

、r field pawer supplies are -I 10 percent on voltage and frequency and -I 5 percent on harmonic content. unless otherwise noted in the specification sheet, the characteristics required in the applicable specification sheets for servmtors are based upon tolerances of -I 1 percent on voltage and freque

、ncy and -I 3 percent on. harmonic content (see 4.2.5) . Therefore, servmtor performnce characteristics may be degraded under nom1 field pawer supply tolerances. 6.5 Criteria for establishim the level of preservation and mckaqinq. The follawing criteria should be used in determining the proper level

、of preservation-or packaging to use: to be shipped to indeterminate. destinations or stored under indeterminate conditions for redistribution anywhere. to be given multiple damestic shipments with indeterminate period of covered storage. to be shim to damestic installations for inmediate use at the

、first receiving station. a. Level A. This level should be used for those item which are b. Level B. This level should be used for those iternS which are c. Level C. This level should be used for those items which are 6.6 Definitions. 6.6.1 Servamotor. A servomotor is a precision inaudion mtor desim

、to operate from two indeperdent AC voltages of the same frequency. Variations of amplitude and relative th phase of the two voltages determine the direction, speed and torque of the mtor. A high torque-to-rotor inertia ratio is an intended charactey.istic of a Servaanotor . 6.6.2 Reference winding.

、The reference winding (phase 1) of a servomotor is that windhc which is energized by a specified fixed voltage and frequency. 17 Provided by IHSNot for ResaleNo reproduction or networking permitted without license from IHS-,-,-6.6.3 Control windinq. The control winding (phase 2) of a senramotor is t

、hat winding which is energized by a control voltage with a time-phase difference of 90 electrical degrees from the voltage eneryizing the refer- winding. 6.6.4 Electrical breakaway tome. The electrical breakaway torque or minimum starting voltage of a servamotor is that voltage of the rated frequency which when applied to the control windirg causes the shaft to start and continue to rotate from any initial angular positio
