9、r of the plastics and tested by the contractor as suitable to meet the construction and performance requirements of this speci fi cati on. 3.1.1.2 C6enting.- Cemented plastic joints shall be free of air bubbles and stress crazing and shall have the transparency of the original plastic throughout the

18、ati onal boi 1 er. . 3.2.1 The display panel shall show a bar type diagram of the utilization 3.2.2 Power su 1 - The training aid shall operate from an external power source + of I 5 volts, 60 Hz. 3.2,2.1 The training aid shall be provided with a 20-foot, 3-wire. cable with plugs on each end, confor
19、ming to W-C-596, a cable receptacle, a main switch with red indicator light, and main 115-volt fusing. ,Stowage provisions for this cable shall be made on the inside of one of the rear doors of the training aid. 3.2.2.2 The lighting system of the display panel shall be powered from a 24 volts source
20、 supplied by a built-in step-down transformer. The 24-volt system shall be separately fused. 3.2.2.3 All wiring shall be identified by a color or number code. All wiring shall be neatly bundled and supported. A wiring diagram, enclosed in clear plastic by a pressure and heat sealing process, shall b

22、f the training afd. The design shall bfi such as to result in reduced requ-irements for adjustments and alinement, and low frequency of failure, while providing for simp1 ified maintenance. Replacement of parts shall be made easy, and accessibility for making adjustments or alinements or both shall
23、be provided. the training aid shall be constructed such that no fixed part, assemblies or subassemblies shall bind or become undesirably free, Degradation . shall not be caused in the mechanical or electrical performance stipulated for the training aid because of shipment, normal handling, or storag

26、 panel shall consist of aplywood panel approximate y 96 x 42 inches, mounted in a wood frame. The panel shall be covered with 1/8 tempered hardboard smooth on both sides. The panel shall contain three interrelated displays: a bar graph, a boiler pckup and a sectional view through the IM-type” boiler

28、coated nylon, equal to .the tensile, tear and flame resstance characteristics of Amor-Tite, shall be pruvided to protect the training aid when not in use. The covering and material used in the construction of the dust cover shall be compatible with all finishes of the training aid so that no migrati
29、ng solvents will adversely affect any part of the training aid or cover. The dust cover shall be permanently fastened on top of the panel framing and shall have snap fasteners or equal * at the lower edge. A secure temporary storage on top of the panel framing shall be provided for the dust cover. .

34、 be thoroughly cleaned of loose metal chips and other foreign material. 4. QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS 4.1 Responsibility for inspection.- Unless otherwise specified in the contract or purchase order, the supplier is responsible for the performance of all inspection requirements as specified ,herei

Except as otherwise specified in the contract or order, the supplier may use his own or any other facilities suitable for the performance of the inspection requirements specified herein, unless disapproved by the Government. The Government reserves the right to perform any of the inspections set
36、forth in the speci- fication where such inspections are deemed necessary to assure supplies and services conform to prescribed requirements. .- a .I .: ,. e 4.2 Classification of inspection.- Inspections to be performed are classified as follows: (a) in-process inspection (b) Qual i ty conformance i
37、nspecti on. 4.2.1 In-process inspection.- In-process inspection shall include such visual, electrical, and mechanical examinations and testing of materials, sub-assembl ies, parts , and accessories (including purchased standard items) during the manufacturing process as may be necessary to assure co

PREPARATION FOR DELIVERY 5.1 Preservation and packaging.- Preservation and packag
42、ing shall be ,Level A or C, as specified by the procuring activity. I 5,l.l Level A.- For Level A, each training aid shall be preserved and packaged for mechani cal and physical protection in accordance with MIL-P- 116, Method III, 5.1.2 Level C.- For Level C, preservation and packaging shall confor

44、A(TD) 5.2.1 Level A.- Units packaged in accordance with 5.1.1 shall be packed in exterior containers coriforming to PPP-B-621 Class 2, or PPP-B-601 Styles A or B, with steel banding.
