Unless otherwise specified herein, all equip-ment, material, and articles incorporated in the products covered by this spec-ification shall be new and shall be fabricated using materials produced fromrecovered materials to the maximum extent practicable without jeopardizing theintend

The term “recovered materials* means materials which have beencollected or recovered from solid waste and reprocessed to become a source ofraw materials, as opposed to virgin raw materials. None of the above shall beinterpreted to mean that the use of used or rebuilt products is allowed unde

Valves shall
30、 include an internal travel stop in theclosed position to prevent disc overtravel. The internal stop shall be inte-grally cast, forged, or welded and shall be a part of the body of the valve.The stop shall be sufficiently rugged to withstand erosion by fluid flow.3.5 Fasteners. Flange fasteners for

Lug style valves shall have tapped flange holeswhich provide for thread engagement of fully formed threads to a depth not leaethan the nominal bolt diameter.3.5.1 Tapered thread plugs or fasteners shall not be used.3.6 Seats. Seats
32、 shall be designed to seal hi-directionally. Syntheticseats shall include a metal to metal backup seat for fire resistance.3.6.1 In the closed position of the valve, the seat shall seal overa minimum 5 degree included angle of rotation of the disc for valve size 12inches and less, and over a 3 degre

34、 be replaceable without removing the stem and discassembly,3.6.4 Seats shall be either reversible or shall be designed to physicallypreclude improper installation.3.6.4.1 The seat retainer shall be contained by a recess in the body ofthe valve to preclude a potential external leak path through the b
35、ody and therecess shall be within the flange gasket area. The seat retainer shall beattached to the body of the valve through the face of the retainer. Style Bvalves shall be designed such that the seat retainer can withstand the ratedpressure of the valve in open end connections.3.6.5 Synthetic sea
36、ting materials shall be compatible with fuels inaccordance with MIL-T-5624 and MIL-F-16884 (see table I).3.6.6 Synthetic seats shall be designed to provide zero leakage. Metalto metal seats shall have a maximum seat leakage rate of 10 cubic centimeters(cm3) per inch of nominal size per hour (see 4.3
37、.2).3.7 Stems. Stems shall be rigidly attached to the disc. Means shall beprovided to preclude stem or stem piece expulsion from the body of the valvein the event of part failure. The stem retention device shall be in the bodyneck or shall be so constructed that it is functional during stem seal rep
38、lacementand adjustment and cannot be disassembled during stem seal maintenance. Thisfeature shall be independent of the valve actuating mechanism.)3.7.1 Stem packing shall be replaceable without removing the valve fromthe piping system or removing an actuator from the valve.3.7.2 Stem seals shall in
39、corporate a fire resistant feature.3.8 Disc and metal seat facin. The edge of the disc and seat may becoated with abrasion and fouling resistant materials which are compatible withthe fuels in 3.6.5 and with seawater or mixtures of seawater and fuel.3.9 Position indication. Valves shall be provided
40、with a local positionindicator which shall be an integral part of the stem section that la exposedto the atmosphere.3.10 Actuators. Valves shall be actuated by electric or manual actuators.Manual actuators for all size valves shall be enclosed worm gear type. Manualactuator handwheels shall be in ac
41、cordance with Drawing 803-1385620 when thedepicted sizes are used. Actuator materials shall be in accordance with table I.The type of actuator shall be as specified (see 6.2.1).
