15、units shall be of satisfactory design and as compact ana- i t in weigh as practicable without sacrifice of strength, durability, serviceability or efficiency. The electric motor operated valves shall consist of a valve complete with a handwheel, special valve stem, electric motor, drive mechanism, l

16、imit switches, and controller with electric control stations as specified (see 6.1). commercial standard suitable for the purpose intended. Cast iron or semi-steel shall not be used. ML-M-16576 as specified (see 6.11. 3.2.2 Stem. - The valve stem shall be made of nickel-copper alloy conforming to Sp

17、ecifica- tion MIL-N-8Kd shall be of the ttrisingJ type. It shall have Acme threads which shall operate in a nut 3f cast manganese brmze or gun metal composition conform:ng to Specification MIL-B-16443 or MIL-M-16576, respectively, upon which shall be attached the main operating gear. The nut shall b

18、e provided with suitable ball or roller bearings conforming to Specification 42Fk or 42B10, to take radial and thrust loads of the valve stem in both directions. The arrangement of the stem, operating nut, and bearings shall be such as to prevent the valve opening due to failure of any of these part

21、tian MIL-N-694 or MIL-N-20164. Integral seats shallbe bronze in accordance with MIL-E-16541. 3.2.5 Yoke. - The yoke shall be of galvanized class B steel conforming to Specifka- tim MIL-S-15Yokes shall be fitted to the valve body by zinc 3r cadmium plated steel bolts and skured with nuts of rolled br

22、ass conforming to Specification MIL-B-994. The number and Spacincf of the bolts or studs shall be symmetrical to permit mounting of the yoke and electric power unt in four psitions in relation to one another and to the valve. 250 pounds per square inch (p. s. i. ). 26、ted in accordance with table TI shall be subjected to each of the tests specified herein which shall be conducted or witnessed by the Govern- ment inspector, and the results of each test compared with specification requirements. Failure to conform to the specification requirements for any group A te

27、st shall be counted as a defect and the valve shall be rejected. If the number of such nonconforming valves in any sample exceeds the acceptance number for that sample, the lot represented by the sample shall be rejected. Rejected lots may be offered again for Government inspection tests provided al

28、l valves in the lot have been retested by the contractor for test(s) causing rejection and all noncompliance corrected. . In the event of any failure to conform to the specificatton requirements for any group C test the contractor shall correct the cause of failure on future productionunits and repair the d

34、eficiency in any valves nrt yet shipped. Group C tests Reference Operation at extreme temperatures 4. 5. 12 4.5 Test procedures. - 4.5.1 Each sample valve shall be examined by the Government inspector to verifycmformance to-all of the requirements of this specification which do not involve tests. Th

35、e fit of parts shall be observed with particular reference to the interchangeability of such parts as are liKely to require replacement during the normal service life of the equipment. 4.5.2 Repair parts. - Each repair part shall be subjected tc a careful examination to ascertain that the materials,

36、 workmanship and finish are first class in every respect and that theycomply fully with the manufacturers approved drawings. The principal object of this inspection shall be to determine if the repair parts are exact duplicates of those used in the equipment. If the Government inspector has reason t

37、o dcnibt the ready interchangeability of the repair parts with the original equipment parts, he may require a suitable demonstration of such interchangeability. 4.5.3 Electrical equipment. - Motors, controllers and master switches shall be tested as required by Specifications MIL-M-17059 and MIL-C-2

38、212, as applicable. - 4.6.4 Operating tests. - 4.5.4.1 Each sample valve selected in accordance with 4.3.1 shall be closed and opened twice by the electrical equipment. Each sample valve selected in accordance with 4.3.2 shall be closed and 9pened six times and the temperotures of the electrical equ

39、ipmeck observed. The line pressure shall be 225 p. s. i. 4 5.5 -wer input. - The electrical pwer input shall be measured during closing and opening. 4 5.6 Manual operation. - The valve shali be operated by hand to verify conformance to 3.6.2. 4.5.7 Locking mechanism. - The valve shall be operated by hand and by

41、 electric power to verify all requirements of 3. 6. 4. 4.5.8 Dielectric strength. - The test required by Specifications MIL-M-17059 and MIL-C-2212 shall be repealed. 4.5.9 Hydrostatic tests. - 4.5.9.1 Body tests. - Each sample valve shall be tested to 375 pounds per square inch hydrostatic pressure

42、with valve open to determine that casting is soEnd. Sweating or visible deformation shall cause the valve to be rejected. 4.5.9.2 Ti htness test. - Each sample valve shall be tested to 250 pounds per square inch In conducting this tightness test, a blank flange with petcock shall be secured on outle

43、t valve. With valve closed the hydrostatic pressure shall be applied under the valve seat in the direction to open the valve and there shall be no leakage permitted. 4.5.10 Torque adjustment. - The valve shall be closed and opened with the torque adjustment 4.5.11 Submergence test. - The completely

44、assembled power unt samples shall be given a hydrostatic pressure -9-r with va ve closed to determine that the disk and seat are sound and the valve tight. set at each extreme psition to verify conformance to 3. 7.4. submergence test f9r 1 hourein water under a static head equivalent to 3 feet of wa

45、ter. The pressure may be obtained either by using some hydraulic means, such as a pressure pump, air pressure or by means of a 3 fmt head of water. After submergence the unit shall be capable of operatng as spec:fied in 4.5.4.1. 4.5.12 Extreme temperature test. - Thevalve shall be held 2 hours at ze

46、ro degrees F. and then tested as in 4.5.4. The valve shall be held 2 hours at 150F. and then tested as in 4.5.4. 4.6 InsDection procedures. - For Naval purchases, the general inspection procedures shall be in accordance with General Specifications for Inspection of Material. 5. PREPARATION FOR DELTV

47、ERY 5.1 Preservation and packaging. - 5.1.1 For d2mestic shipment - immediate use. - The valves shall he preserved and packaged in accwdance with commercial practice. 5.1.2 For domestic shipment and storage or overseas shipment. - 5.1.2.1 Valves, power unit and controls. - 5.1.2.1.1 Mechanical compo

48、nents. - External, unpainted ferrous surfaces shall be coated with preservative type P-1 of Specification MIL-P-116. Gear housings shall be flushed with preservative type P-2 of Specification MIL-P-116. All openings in the valve shall be sealed with blank flanges or w3od or plywood covers. Barrier m
